This deck is sick as a budget brew but holy crap this deck is craving a sheoldred

Seth, probably better known as "Seth Probablybetterknownassaffronolive" looks like if I sat across from him at fnm, he'd be super chill, but have a terrifyingly good deck.

Was thinking a bit about arena budget an I had this thought: One of the cool things about Budget Magic is that it gets Seth to build decks around cards people are not using much and sometimes he finds cool sleeper strategies, like Hammer Time. I think it's fine that the budget decks are a little expensive on arena, because that's just the arena economy. I still think it's cool to watch videos of weird decks using unpopular cards.

Deck also benefits from opponents not knowing how to play against it. It was funny watching mono-black grottos (match 4 game 1) let Seth put a counter on the anointer to put it to 4 power instead of removing it right away. I also really liked the stats data at the end of the video.

I’ve been running Gixian puppeteer in pioneer Rakdos and I’ve been very impressed

I’ve been doing something similar and breakdown heavy works pretty well with it and invoke despair is good removal and card draw in one

I have been down on standard since the meathook ban but this deck is sick, definitely gonna try it out

Looks like Thirst can work in 2-color Blue decks too. Seems like it should see some play outside of Mono-U.

The first thing that popped in my head when you cast Stroke on Invoke was Sheoldred. It’s tough spot but I think it’s a punt. Sheoldred is just so good against your deck. While Negate plays around more cards, I think those cards are less relevant. You can beat spot removal or another Path.

This deck gets a lot better as soon as ONE drops, with the Phyrexian Arena reprint

I know it’s kinda hard to record at the perfect spot but I feel like high diamond/numbered mythic is a much more informative data set than sub 90s mythic where your opponent scoops twice in 5 minutes.

I have a very similar deck to this but I use vohar as my draw engine. Just wondering if it’s a better alternative to something like consider?

Match 3, a classic. Playing against an opponent with no skill but god tier luck and the most busted cards in standard. Good times.

I think it actually would have been correct to play the counters in opposite order, not just hindsight bias. Without the active graveyard hate I don't think you lose to the path of peril because of the recursion in the deck. I was more concerned about losing to sheoldred/ felt like the stroke was maybe wrong before you actually got punished. Deck was sweet!

its absolutely just a punt, they would have cleaved the path of peril..... meaning its cmc is also 4 or higher, you saw zero non creature spells that were below 4 mana except uncleaved path, duress, and hearse, hearse does nothing there, duress does nothing there, and sheoldred would be hard to beat, saving distainful stroke was just always correct with the information you had.

That last opponent does not know how to play aggro. You don't wait against a midrange deck you go attacking as soon as possible.

Let me tell you, I tried your budget deck in Arena standard. I got literally eviscerated. never even had the slightest of chances. Even a crappy mono blue deck that all I seen them play was thirst for discovery, the blue serpent with ward 2(dom card) consider, and the blue djin with power equal to the instant and sorcery in their grave; beat me. It was a real 💩 show. Of course I only got to go first in one game, but that’s just arena for you. I haven’t bought the pass or anything this season, so I guess I should expect to do nothing but loose. But Jesus Christ, I’ve put 260$ into the game since I started playing a few months ago. You’d think that would be enough. B4 ppl tell me I just suck. I place top 3 in 99% of the drafts that I play in paper. I’m not terrible at the game. Arena is just rigged; and in a number of different ways from what I can tell. So I guess I just want to say; thanks for trying to help me have a decent deck in arena. But it’s definitely not the one. I got stomped every game. 😡
