True .. that is why Marx said that Religion is people's opium. Just like doctor gives chloroform or any other anethesia to suppress the pain, bhakthi may act as a medium of diversion. But once that bhakthi mode is discharged ( it is difficult but not impossible to be in bhakthi mode always while being in domestic life), the pain will reappear ( just like when effects of pain killers diminish after the operation)..It is better to learn to handle pains in normal way rather depend on artificial routes..

He is not an allrounder scholar. He is a strict vaishnavaite Iyengar ( that too only vadakalai).. He will never talk about Siva and his "isms". He will only talk about விசிஷ்டாத்வைதம் but not அத்வைதம். ( நாலாயிர திவ்ய பிரபந்தம் but not திருமுறை). All his discourses are based on Vaishnavism ( except may be common like Bramhasutram, vedhas which could be interpreted in anyway)..In that way he is follwing sashtras only which says one must be true his community and it's rules. One thing is appreciated that he does not hide( பூசி மொழுகுதல்) the facts mentioned in the scriptures . As per history Ramanuja could not accept அத்வைத philosophy and modified it by taking examples from Upanishads and Brahmasutraa as per his convenience.( Upanishads are not consistent in this matter and so anybody could interpret in their own way).

This is how your comparison is my friend. He said there are two meanings for vainavar. Here you are already assuming that vainavam only means Vishnu. Thats why you are bringing in Siva here. One of the meaning for vainavar is Vishnu bhaktar. But the other meaning is empathy. So when you are taking the second meaning, Vishnu doesn't even come there. It's just another word. You need to look at it clearly

அடியேனுக்கு ஒரு சந்தேகம். Who proved rebirth theory sceintifically. Impossible. Science even does not accept the concept of " soul" . The soul concept and karma theory is the easiest way to explain the descripencies and differences found in the society. That doesnot mean it is correct. One has to read all the explanations and apply and compare with our experiences and conclude ourself. Just reading scriptures and vomiting one particular portion as per requirement is not going to help in finding the reality. Karma theory can easily be disproved . ( Firstly it was not proved by anybody rather it is used to explain the society,period). The explanation given for karma theory ( by every religious leaders) is by the example of a child born with defect in birth or a child born with extraordinary talents. But why not .. is it required by the law of the universe that every child should be born perfectly with all the organs intact and doing their duty as required. No there is no such law. Since we are emotional people , we take pity on the child and try to console them with one theory or other. But the universe does not have any special emotional attachement with us because we are the universe..

are u referring to the diabetes story.. If yes, he is hypothetically quoting but it happened to my neighbors that their daughter was born with insulin deficiency so that the child should have insulin injected twice a week for entire life. I don't know whether their parents or any relations had history of diabetes in the family. Though I had witnessed this, I don't believe her karma was the reason for this. ( Karma theory is the easiest way to explain to console the parents as most of the people could not think of any other explanation. But of course there is explanation why this happened which everybody knows but unable to digest or in the state of refusal ..)
