There are 3 different legal classifications of Ice Cream in Japan. The classification needs to be clearly added onto the packaging. The frozen treat is required to have a minimum percentage of cream/milk depending on which of the 3 categories it falls under. The best is "アイスクリーム", literally ice cream. This is the quality ice cream that you were probably expecting. It tends to be the most expensive but highest quality. Next is "アイスミルク" literally ice milk. It has a higher content of milk in it than cream. "ラクトアイス", literally lacto ice. As you mentioned it is good for the summer heat, but it's more ice than it is dairy. You can easily check the katakana on the packaging to easily figure out the category/quality of the frozen treat.

As a Swede it hurts to say, but yes, you do have the best chocolate, probably in the whole Baltic region. The classic blue is great, but there is one that comes in a slightly smaller package that says "made with fresh milk" that's even better, do you have it in your domestic market as well?

I am an American who knows the taste you are talking about, though I have only noticed it in the taste of M&M's in levels I considered noteworthy. I don't always taste it when eating american chocolates, but it blows my mind we add a chemical from spoiled things to a food for *reasons* but don't allow unpasteurized milk.

Try out the local sauna culture, also known as bathing. There are at least couple of old school public sentō bath houses in Asakusa. Akebonoyu has an ok looking exterior façade for the vlog shot. Interiors look mostly the same in every old school sento. Obviously filming might be a bit tricky. You need to be there when no one else is, to even have a chance at filming some b-roll. If you go and film guerilla style, not asking permission (witch I recommend as asking for permission is a hassle and you will most likely be turned down. But it's kind of ok to film if there is no one in the bath or in the changing room. Right?) you can't really do vlog shots inside cause the cashier is close enough to hear you speaking... alone... to your self... in a bath. 🤐 But obviously filming in a bathhouse is still technically breaking the rules, even if there is no one in there. And sometimes viewers seem to be stickler for rules here on KZfaq.

Also I really recommend this one ice cream bar, I had to google translate a pic of it and it said "Kikyo Shingen mochi" flavour, it has a pic of that said mochi on a plate and the packaging is red with small white flowers (I think I found it either in FamilyMart or Lawson). There's so many layers to it. The Lipton milky earl grey tea ice cream was surprisingly good too, if you love tea! : D

Royce is the brand you should look for if you want good chocolate in Japan. Japanese chocolate follows the American (USA) school of chocolate craftsmanship more closely and is therefore quite mediocre. Good chocolate in Japan can be found in two types: "European chocolate" and Hokkaido chocolate.

There's other variants of mochi ice cream with fruit, I used to get same brand you showed but with a strawberry in the middle, it's was pretty nice. There's also ice cream with different wafers, but the one you should really try is the frozen ice cream from glico called "ice no mi" they are small frozen balls with fruit flavours, cost like 140 yen or something like that. They are awesome, even more so on hot days.

Mudan, video ideas: 1. Make a video but the order of events is done in reverse--like Memento 2. Make a vlog but have no cuts in it--it's all one long shot. 3. Make a vlog but have no dialogue in it. The purpose of the vlog is done entirely through cinematography.

Whenever I visit Japan, I always get the Super Cup ice cream. You can't go wrong with the basic vanilla flavor but my favorite by far was the banana cookie flavor. Think oreo cookies with banana flavored icecream.👌However, I don't know if it's still available because they seem to have seasonal specials too and I couldn't find it anymore last time I visited.😢 (They also had choco mint at some point which I found pretty good.) I really like the mochi ice too! I absolutely adore the Haichuu/Hi-Chew candies! We have maoam over here but they're so shit in comparison. lmao Best Hi-Chew (imo) are the sour suppaichuu, green apple and grape ones. They must be soft tho! If they're kinda hard, they're old or maybe were badly stored. One of my favorite chocolate snacks are the coffee chocolate tubes that you can see in upper right corner at 3:02, the small choco caramel balls with the bird on the package and the chocolate covered macadamia (one can be seen on the left side at 3:07 but I think there was another version in a dark brown packaging that I liked more - it's been a while). Obviously, they're not as great as fazer chocolate, but I feel it's pretty difficult to even get close to that.😆I'm also from Europe so I might have similar tastebuds. lol

For favorite snack candy in the USA, Riesen by Storck (chocolate-covered chocolate caramel bites) are good and ginger chews by Prince of Peace that has a big kick of ginger and chewy sweetness that can also soothe an upset stomach. Buy these individually wrapped candies by the pound, but it takes a long time to eat if you limit yourself to a few a day (requires more discipline for the Riesens).

The Storck Riesen originate from Germany, so of course they should be at least decent, haha. Be careful if you have any tooth fillings though, we lovingly call those chewy candies "Plombenzieher". xD (Plombe is filling, Zieher is the noun version of "to pull sth. out")

One Cup Ozeki is fine. I had a lot of sake at similar price points and some were much better, others were worse. There was one I got from an ekiben store for about Y700 that was better than some expensive ones, but it's worth giving some of the two litre cartons a chance. Out of everything I tried though, the best was about Y1000 for 350mL from a liquor store in Kyushu. Could be worth commenting on liquor stores btw, as it's something most tourists probably never end up seeing, as alcohol is so readily available elsewhere.
