Xiaomi Poco F1 drivers
(Windows Only, Mac & Linux users don't need drivers)
Download MiUnlock Tool - xiaomi-miui-ota-3rdrom.ks3-cn-...
Unzip the file.
Double click to execute the file called "miflash_unlock".
It will open the application, click on settings icon on top right of the application.
Click on check and follow the instructions. Once drivers have installed we can close the application.

Hello Munchy - great video and a big plus to manage the intallation of a custom rom. Problem is, that I don't get the Magisk App listed when I reboot the phone after all the TWRP installation went fine and I did the installation of the system again (min. 8 of the video) What's my mistake?

Hey Munchy, I want to install pixel 4 ROM on my POCO F1. These below questions are regarding that. 1. May be a dumb question but still.. Once twrp is installed.. I can reboot the phone normally is it ! It takes me directly to miui right ? Coz somewhere in the video (during twrp installation) u mentioned that reboot into twrp otherwise poco ROM is gonna rewrite twrp recovery. 2. Secondly, to install any custom ROM shud the mobile be on the current stable ROM or is it fine otherwise ? Coz right now I downgraded from miui 11 to miui 10.0.6. 1. you need to install MAgisk for TWRP to stick, if you dont then MIUI will replace TWRP with stock recovery 2. follow any of my latest custom rom install video and you will be fine. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/aMqBidGinr3GYp8.html read pinned comment as well if the video asks for it

Hello munchy, I followed your steps closely and I successfully installed magisk, twrp, and a custom rom (PE10+). I also backed up beforehand. I also tried to install a custom kernel. It was successful, however, I cannot install the kernel app because of an error that says magisk is not installed. I also checked it and the magisk manager was gone in my app library after restoring some apps and data. Although I still have all the .zip on my file manager. I tried installing the .apk file for magisk manager, and it also cannot detect magisk. What should I do? Thank you I hope you notice this. More power to you man

@Servant ccl you should look into command prompt commands. or just go to the folder where you have fastboot executable, press and hold shift key, and then right click ..in the popup window click on open command prompt here.

@Servant ccl if you boot Into miui without magisk you will have to, if you install twrp and then install a custom rom then twrp will stick ..bottom like ..on miui you need magisk to keep twrp ..

Hi again munchy, I was just wondering what are magisk and TWRP recovery ? And what does it have to do with rooting the phone ? Since, I'm gonna do it too but don't want to mess up anything, so I'm basically asking you this by precaution to know what I'm actually doing. All I know is that you can flash custom roms that's to say custom software, if I'm not... mistaken ? By using TWRP recovery, and so, it's like BIOS for pc right ? Like a hidden platform in wich you can do certain modifications to your phone, hence why you need to unlock the bootloader right ? I know that video is pretty old but I didn't wanted to do anything to my phone and stay with stock Miui stable Rom with locked bootloader, but now I would like to do certain things only achievable by rooting, wich are changing the linux kernel to extreme kernel, while changing the rom to pixel experience or oxygen os. Thanks again for your effort and constant updates about the pocophone for the comunity, it really help us out, hope you get to answer and if you do thanks again for your feedback :).

Hi @munchy I followed all the steps and everything, but my POCO can't be rooted. The Magisk app seems to be installed correctly, but whenever I check for root privileges (with the root checker app) the asnswet is that I don't have them. Please help!!!

Did it pass safetynet? I get failure with cts and already tried without magisk and every thing to get safetynet working. Is it because the bootloader is unlocked? I use official twrp official aospextended pie and magisk 18.1 with no module or other modifications

People trying this in 2020 before installing any rom will face a few hiccups. forme the solution was to use the latest Magisk, but only the twrp munchy used. I tried latest twrp and previous versions, all failed to install latest magisk as well as the magisk used in this video.

yes you can switch roms while you are on a vendor firmware. it is recommended to vendor firmware when switching from MIUI to custom.

Magis manager installed when I press it shows upgrade to full magisk manager to finish the setup. Download and install? Then i put yes! . But nothing happened just closed why? I selected all the permissions OK Then (tab YES) install apps from unknown sources... But the problem as same...

magisk is needed to twrp is not replaced by stock recovery on first MIUI boot. if you install a custom rom right after installing twrp without booting into MIUI then yes you can skip Magisk.

you will need to do a format data in twrp which will result in all data being wiped.

Hello Munchy! Me again - your advice to intall Magisk APK manually worked out perfectly - Thank you for this - I have successfully intalled Pixel Experience Rom on my device thanks to your help! I have another Poco F1 for my doughter. Issue is, that when the TWRP app gets started, it asks for a password and doesn't see the Magisk files on the root drive. All password settings are set to default. No PW is enabled in the settings. Any idea? Thanks for your help in advance, Thomas

do a format data in twrp. do note it will result in all data being lost. also, I am sayinf format data and not wipe data. go to wipe - bottom right (format data) , type yes and then bottom right check mark button on keyboard

Hi it seems like i encounter a problem when im flashing the twrp recovery img , its show this "fastboot: error: cannot load 'recovery-poco.img': No such file or directory " . Ive downloaded the img from the link and rename it just as the vid recomend me as recovery-poco.img . Btw im using powershell in this process

i even try recopy the original file and using the file original name recovery-20181012 on my powershell but it still load up as fastboot: error: cannot load 'recovery-20181012': No such file or directory

do a ls -l in powershell and see the name of the file. maybe you have recovery-poco.img.img

DFE is not needed for stock MIUI. that is part of custom rom flashing process.

never faced that issue but from what I read it looks like a driver issue. forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-5-pro/help/help-press-key-to-shutdown-fastboot-t3816021 may want to try the below try a different usb port try reinstalling drivers try a different computer

are these AMD based machines? I have read you have issues with amd machines ..Intel works fine. If they are Intel, then I have no clue how to solve your issue. best bet would be to ask in q&a sub-forum on xda.

touch takes time to load. give it 30 seconds. asking for password? remove password/pin from miui

flash Magisk after booting into twrp. if you do not flash Magisk after booting into twrp, twrp will get overwritten with mi recovery

yes, if you want twrp to stick on MIUI you need to install Magisk. else TWRP will be replaced with stock recovery on first boot.

Do dir /p and see if recovery img file is in same folder and also check the name of the file ..sometimes in Windows it is .img.img

after enabling usb debugging and connecting usb cable (which is connected to a computer) you will get popup to allow trust that computer. if you dont then you have an option to revoke usb debugging authorizations in developer options. revoke and then connect phone to computer again and you should get the rsa thing.
