It’s always fun to hear people’s takes on “the best…” in music. One song that I never see on these lists and don’t understand is Sultans of Swing by Dire Straits. Super unique sound and identifiable immediately

In my opinion, a list like this isn't complete without Money for nothing by Dire Straits on it.

Great list. Some riffs i was hoping to see here. Dire Straits - Money for nothing Van Halen - Ain't talking bout love Peter Frampton - Do you feel like we do I heard you say in another video that your consider the beggining of Layla more as a lick, so I kinda expected not to be here. And there could be a lot of other Zeppelin riffs.

At 1:43, I didn't knew the Dave Matthews Band made that song called "Satellite" and I didn't knew that title yet when I listened to it in my childhood, even after it was released in 1994 (2 years before I was born). I'm glad you gave me my childhood back with that song. Thank you, Tyler:)

Problem with these riff things is you cant number the amount of great riffs. Its endless and you will always miss tons of them.

As massive of a Tool fan as I am, Schism is definitely driven by Chancellors bass. Also, feel like Bush - Machinehead deserved to be on that list more than some others.

Cool list. For some of these bands, I would replace the songs you picked with: 1. Dazed and Confused by Led Zeppelin 2. All Nightmare Long by Metallica 3. I'm Broken by Pantera 4. Paradise City by Guns n' Roses And I would also add Layla by Eric Clapton which is the riff under the part that everyone knows which you said is more of a lick than a riff.

Of all the riffs to make a tiny mistake on, I think that damn RHCP riff is the most understandable.

"Welcome Home" by Coheed is one of my top riffs and openings to any song. I can hear the first note and know what it is.

That amp sounds great, when you hit that chord during “Airbag” i was shook.

When I come around by green day is the song that got me into playing guitar and also got me to listen to their entire discography.

Here's my list of things left out that I love: Stooges "I Wanna be your Dog," Dead Boys "Sonic Reducer," Van Halen Runnin With the Devil," Dire Straits "Money for Nothin," Black Sabbath "Electric Funeral," Judas Priest "Livin After Midnight," Buckcherry "Lit Up," Alice In Chains (there's soo many I can't put one)

Glad to see at least one Radiohead riff on here. That must have been a hard choice! I'm sure these days they're probably better known (and arguably more popular) for their more "experimental" and less guitar driven stuff. But OK Computer and The Bends are full of amazing riffs! Planet Telex and Subterannian Homesick Alien are two of my personal faves. A couple other honorable mentions: Muse - Hysteria & The Small Print But you could make this list 1000 long and still not make everyone happy! Haha Edit: Freaking awesome Les Paul!

The most impressive part for me was being able to navigate all those tones from one board/rig in sequence without a fancy loop switcher or midi control.

I think an appropriate drop d riff would’ve been Higher by Creed

What this really shows is how versatile (and awesome) P90s are Also: FINALLY seeing some The Darkness love!

muses matthew bellamy has written so many great riff like on new born - plug in baby - stockholm syndrome - knights of cydonia - unnatural selection - supremacy - psycho - the handler - and so on also robert fripp from king crimson has written some crasy unplayable incredible riffs

Tyler - giving credit to Coheed automatically makes your list better than all the other lists regurgitating the same songs year after year. Coheed's catalog is full of amazing riffs and "Welcome Home" is definitely a gateway to them, so thank you for including it.

i think the prechorus riff in tomorrow by silverchair (the part where he goes 'very hard to drink') and the clean guitar solo bit before the first chorus are some of my favourite guitar riffage ever.

Blue Oyster Cult: "Don't Fear the Reaper". One of the coolest and most rewarding riffs to lean early and one of the most iconic and eerie guitar solos ever. Also, Iggy Pop and the Stooges : "Search and Destroy". The riff that kicks a neat infinite amount of ass!!

Love that one of my favorite under-appreciated 90s bands, Collective Soul was included here. Also, The Darkness are CRIMINALLY underrated. They are truly a modern day badass two guitar rock band that absolutely shreds.

My all-time favorite riff is Hey Man Nice Shot by Filter, nobody ever has it on their lists lol. That said, this is a great list. Also your tone on Sunshine of Your Love is insanely close to the original, very cool.

Awesome Video! I have been playing for about 9 months, but i recently had to start focusing on school again. I love guitar and it is honestly one of the greatest energies to experience running through your finger tips. I've just been depressed lately, because i'll probably have to sell my telecaster to pay for school... it's okay though i can always get another guitar :)

Lack of representation of 80s heavy metal bands is frankly disappointing. There's no way I wouldn't have: Judas Priest (Electric Eye), Iron Maiden (2 Minutes to Midnight), Megadeth (Symphony of Destruction), Slayer (Raining Blood), Def Leppard (Pour Some Sugar on Me), Motley Crue (Kickstart My Heart), Motorhead (Ace of Spades) and many more.

I gotta get me one of these gibson specials. I love my epi one but the color on yours is spot on.
