Creed's guitar parts will always be legendary to me. Mark Tremonti is a monster, and like them or hate them, it's his playing in Creed that first got me into playing guitar.

Dude, “Higher” was literally one of the songs that made me actually start asking my parents for a guitar. That opening riff is sooo much better than the chorus btw.

I don’t know about others but I was in high school when “Higher” by Creed came out and absolutely everybody air guitared the licks in the chorus when they happened.... I still do when I hear it.

The way I would put it is as follows: nobody makes terrible lyrics sound as good as nickelback does.

"Licks that will never be legendary because they were never officially recorded." Live licks that can be found in bootlegs and cell phone videos but have never been on an official album, live or otherwise, for the artist.

"Licks that are legendary in their own genre but you don't know them because you don't listen to it" or something like that

Creed gives me an interesting idea; Legendary Licks that you can't play because they're in weird tunings.

My Sharona is amazing. I love the little jam and solo. That song doesn't belong on here. You know this man!

"My Sharona" is a great song...a lot of people have never heard the full version with the guitar solo. What's so cool about it is that it came out in 1979 and it kind of bridges '70s guitar rock and '80s new wave. Great list as always!

I haven't listened to Creed in like 15 years, but I still find myself playing "Higher" and "What If" when I'm idly messing with the guitar. Shout out to Guitar World or Player for having those tabs back in the day.

You know what really grinds my gears? The fact his E string is wrapped different from the others.

According to many music historians My Sharona is "The Song That Killed Disco." So yeah, I'm pretty sure it's legendary just for that.

For us old farts, My Sharona has some of the best late 70s/early 80s power-pop guitar work of all time. That one stood out above all the others because that song is NOT lame.

John Mayer is actually a pretty darn good guitarist. He's got a lot of good stuff in his music.

Dissing Creed. In the words of Stephanie Tanner, “How rude!” In all seriousness Creed is the band that got me into rock music and was my gateway into so many great artists and bands and it all started when I listened to Higher. I honestly owe a lot to that song and the band as a whole.

For me personally, Creed wrote some amazing songs & Tremonti's riffs were & still are insane. Alter Bridge & Tremonti are seriously amazing examples of his playing & technique. Might be a fanboy but I personally loved Higher & for its time it was one of heaviest rock songs in the charts.

I was in an prog band for a while. As in inside joke, we’d try to sneak the Higher lick into our live shows.

The guitar solo in My Sharona - not what you played - but the solo that gets cut out in the radio edit is a collage of majestic rock lick greatness. Hands down one of my favorite guitar solos of all time.

What if by Creed is extremely underrated. The guitar work in it is amazing.

1. Fuck their feelings, Tyler. 2. Never heard the BSB solo before. Only heard the song radio edit. And even checking it on streaming it wasn't mixed in well (bad eq and level too low). A real shame cuz I agree, that's a badass solo.

My Sharona may be overplayed, but will always be one of my favourite rock guitar solos. It really develops nicely over the rhythm part and builds with intensity to a nice peak before it all breaks down to that main riff.

John Mayer is one of that last artist still out there playing like BB King and Clapton. Great guitarist

I think the guitar solo that rides the entire length of GG Allin's "I Wanna Piss On You" is often overlooked. Most people just hear GG talking about how he wants to piss on you, but fail to recognize how much that guitar solo pulls the song together.

My Sharona's guitar solo is really good as well. It's 2 minutes long and has a lot of shredding technique in it. It's usually cut down in radio edits too, so most people who have heard the song probably haven't even heard the whole thing.

When I saw Creed I felt FOR SURE this was going to he "Bullets." A proper middle of the road band but then suddenly they pull out this absolute monster of a song.

Mark Tremonti is an AMAZING guitarist. Plenty of amazing riffs in solos in Creed's music but his stuff in Alter Bridge is insane. The song Blackbird has one of the best solos of all time.

Legendary licks of the "insert decade" Legendary licks of "insert music genre"

I am a big Nickelback fan, and IMO I think they actually write a lot of good lyrics for most of their songs (ex: How You Remind Me, Savin’ Me, Far Away, Burn It To The Ground, and more) And I don’t always understand why a handful of people think they crappy lyrics and why they’d think that cause they have many hit songs sound amazing lyrically and musically. For example How You Remind Me is a song that resignated with lot of people because many people have had some sort dysfunctional relationship and can relate to the relate to lyrics in that song. Secondly, Chad spent a lot of time crafting the lyrics for how you remind me by studying every hit song on the radio at the time and by meticulously writing and thinking out each line because he wanted it to be a slap in his girlfriend’s face. And yes I know I may seem biased, which I’m trying not to be as much as possible, but everyone has a bias whether they believe it or not and who’s to say the people claiming nickelback write terrible lyrics aren’t being bias themselves. And before you ask, yes there are times where I’ve listened to a nickelback song and thought it didn’t have good lyrics in it but some eventually grew on me and have changed my mind for the most part. Anyways, if there is anyone that thinks Nickelback writes crappy lyrics, please reply to me because I’m very curious and would like to understand why.

Dude. For LAME songs Part Deux: You GOT to do the solo from Maniac from the 80s flick Flashdance. It’s literally the best solo in any pop song ever. And no one ever remembers that it’s there!
