@arkman117
@arkman117 4 жыл бұрын
Yep the detriment of that band was Scott stapp, first his high points, his lyrics were well written, and he was very charismatic live and gave a good performance as a front man in terms of showmanship. Now the reasons I say he was the detriment, drug abuse, self explanatory. Poor cohesion with his band mates, he did not get along with most of the members, him and mark probably had the best relationship and even then you could tell mark was being kind with how he spoke about him in interviews. Very inconsistent voice live sometimes his voice would be on point and next night way off, and I really don't know why. And finally his voice was great but he focused to hard on certain aspects of his voice to often and it got old and almost became a meme of sorts. He needed to be more dynamic and work on diversifying his vocal performance. Same issue really that nickleback has with Chad Kroger except Chad is not a good lyricist imo, in a way Kirk hammett also has a similar issue because of his use of the way pedal on nearly every solo he plays.

I am a big Nickelback fan, and IMO I think they actually write a lot of good lyrics for most of their songs (ex: How You Remind Me, Savin’ Me, Far Away, Burn It To The Ground, and more) And I don’t always understand why a handful of people think they crappy lyrics and why they’d think that cause they have many hit songs sound amazing lyrically and musically. For example How You Remind Me is a song that resignated with lot of people because many people have had some sort dysfunctional relationship and can relate to the relate to lyrics in that song. Secondly, Chad spent a lot of time crafting the lyrics for how you remind me by studying every hit song on the radio at the time and by meticulously writing and thinking out each line because he wanted it to be a slap in his girlfriend’s face. And yes I know I may seem biased, which I’m trying not to be as much as possible, but everyone has a bias whether they believe it or not and who’s to say the people claiming nickelback write terrible lyrics aren’t being bias themselves. And before you ask, yes there are times where I’ve listened to a nickelback song and thought it didn’t have good lyrics in it but some eventually grew on me and have changed my mind for the most part. Anyways, if there is anyone that thinks Nickelback writes crappy lyrics, please reply to me because I’m very curious and would like to understand why.
