i'm an atheist, but i would never refuse, for example, a christmas celebration at a friend's place - if they invited me, it's important to them to have me close on a day like this. i won't go to church or pray, but i won't act all high and mighty as if other cultures/religions are somehow bad and inferior to mine (that's exactly the vibe i get from muslim ppl in this situation)

"I have no beliefs so I can go anywhere and do what I want. But also, Muslims are wrong for acting like they shouldn't celebrate other people's holidays" 🫠 Of course if you have no religious beliefs, you don't mind partaking in their "fun" celebrations. For Muslims, we have 1 holiday (technically 2 Eids) and its a test of our faith that we don't go out and celebrate those other holidays "just for the fun of it" when we are specifically told not to do so. You can respect people and their holidays while also not partaking in them. I don't tell people Merry Christmas. I say "happy holidays" and I am very polite about it. Even after getting screamed at "Merry Christmas! God bless you!" By the Salvation Army charity collector outside the stores or the cashiers and people standing in line in the stores. It's to the point I don't even want to leave my house the whole month of December, but yes, "Muslims" are the ones being high and mighty about it ☠️

Don't think the people in the Mosque next door got the memo. They had a Halloween party where they gave kids candy. Then again, neither Halloween nor Christmas is religious here in Denmark. We just do it for the fun of it. Food. Candy. Beer.

its also the end of the harvest beginning of the new year. i want to clarify ITS NOT SATANIC. its literally just the day of the dead celebration/new years celebration. but i appreciate that you are not bashing it and not telling people it's evil. and the candy aspect is actually Christian. i respect that Islam just lets other religions do their own thing. i wish more regions would have that aspect.

@@Hiba-ux2my I totally understand your point but these are very small children who don't understand and they are so happy to see me everyday that I wouldn't want to disappoint them or explain my faith, it serves no purpose to such small children. It's valid to not want to celebrate due to religion but I would say the satanic rituals bit is not accurate. Samhain (pronounced Sow-en) is a religious holiday many pagans celebrate. And paganism is an umbrella term that encompasses many religions, and some Satanists consider themselves pagan, so they might celebrate the holiday Samhain. But Samhain is not really Halloween, although the secular modern version of Halloween is tied to some pagan traditions.

I'm Jewish and also don't celebrate Halloween because of its origins, though my family celebrates it. I sometimes feel like my family doesn't fully support that I don't celebrate halloween as I'm not an orthodox Jew. I barely keep Shabbat as is. (but that's also because I go to a college where the Jewish population is at most 100, and my school schedules a lot of music events on weekends and a lot of them are mandatory, so for the sake of my major and not falling behind, I'm not shomer shabbos.)

I know this is a touchy subject in general but im very curious what things like divorce and remarriage is like or if its a concept in islam at all. Is it allowed? What if a married couple realized they are absolutely incompatible? What if they become widowed? Are there different rules for men and women? Also, this is a slightly sillier question but during the pandemic, despite wearing the veils that covered your face, did you still have to wear a mask under it?

Looking only at the origins of a holiday for whether to celebrate seems narrow-minded. It might be more productive to look at whether the holiday or aspects of the holiday celebrate your values. Does the holiday make the world a better place? Are we better off as a society if people are engaging in this holiday or not. What parts are it are worth celebrating? I think the tradition of circling the neighborhood with our children and asking candy from neighbors and loved ones is worth celebrating. It is a wonderful wholesome activity that only dentists should argue against. Turning your lights off and turning your back to your neighbors is not the way to build community.

Hollywood movies make it into that. But like they said the origins of the holiday are very old and it wasn't to praise the devil but rather to repel the evil as the border between the lands of the living and the dead are very thin the spirits come back , but just as Dia de Los muertos shows you ( as it was adapted by the Christian Church in Mexico) it is about the spirits of family members and friends and it's a positive idea of remembering and honouring your dearly departed. Also Catholic church built their holiday over this tradition mixed in with celebrating the harvest so the Church created All souls and saints days for people to reflect and those days are again not to worship the devil. Wearing costumes came from trying to hide from the evil spirits who could also come by mistake. Candy is mostly American invention ( kids back in the old continent would sometimes get soul cakes). So this is just to prevent the misconceptions, but like I said traditional Christians are not allowed to celebrate Halloween per say but rather remember the dead and saints of the Church.

First you identify that the holiday has become secularized--that the vast majority of people you meet aren't using it to drum up support for pagan-style practices and worship to other gods. Then you claim that because it has these roots, you cannot (will not?) participate, even though the roots are entirely impotent to those enjoying the festivities. Let me put this another way: In another video, you say that even if we're not Muslims, we can participate in Muslim events, festivals, etc. As such, all others of different cultures and beliefs can still enjoy and interact with Muslims during their events. However, according to this video, Muslims can't (won't?) do the same in return. This is literally segregation. Rather than appreciating cultures that span the globe and what they believe, you'd rather deny them under a thin veneer of claiming to accept other people's practices while actually never participating in them yourself. i.e., it's okay if others come to you and enjoy your culture, but you can't (won't?) offer even the simplest hospitality in return.
