Well said. How is the team improving when we finished in the QF at WC 02 and 06 Don’t forget the French team had players injured / missing. Also people were saying France weren’t all that, now they say…. Ahhh they are the world champs. We beat a poor German side the other year and people now count that as we beat a big / hard team 😂😂😂. I actually think Keown did well there. Had Simon on the ropes. Simon bangs on about Elite managers will make the difference. Luis Enrique? Semi final and a last 16 exit. Conte with Italy? Quarter Finals. It's not like we're being blown away in these 50/50 knockout matches. A more 'proactive' manager could have us 2-0 down in 30 mins. Southgate isn't perfect, got it wrong with the subs against France, but produced a performance where we had better XG expected goals, reduced them to few opportunities and touches for Mbappe in the box. Were ahead on most things, not to mention one of the top sides in the tournament for goals scored and conceded. Just got stung by elements outside of his control.

Rodgers is a very good manager - promotion with Swansea, top 2 finish with Liverpool, treble and unbeaten season with Celtic, top 5 finishes and FA Cup with Leicester. Southgate - relegation with Middlesbrough.

wrong.. with that team and talent you should be doing more. Give Klopp or Pep that team.. they would have already have won a trophy with that setup. Your team has overall imo better talented squad than both Italy and Crotia for example. France and Brazil.. No.. but it's up there with around in top 5 talented squads in the world easily. As an England supporter for over 40 years I’ve heard and seen every excuse going as to why we haven’t won a tournament , we’ve had world class players world class managers and still won nothing..if it were up to me I’d keep Southgate for the next tournament but in that time get someone else in place for 2026..but I don’t think it will make a difference on who you get ..we are not good enough!🤷‍♂️

As an England fan as soon as France made it to the quarters I knew we were doomed. I just hoped we wud play well and to be fair we did.
