Finally installed the passenger side Inner Rocker Panel and Torque Box. Very time consuming. If you are tackling this project, please be patient. #mustang #mustanggt #convertible #fordmustang #eastwood

Hello there brother, loved the details, you showed on your convertible rocker and torque box job.. I added torque boxes to my 65 FB last year. They were made by Spectra, in Canada.. From NPD, they cost quite a bit, though I also had to cut them apart, rebend multiple flanges, cut one side down as well. The point is, there almost always going to be some real hard core fabrication required, no matter what you spend. The side benefit, for the motivated, stage two, stage three thinker, is the fab skills and education you get, from working on old cars, and figuring it out, yourself, is invaluable... You get your car project done, for way less money, and mad skills, and confidence to get into to way more trouble, on the next project !!! God bless..

You are absolutely right. I wish I would get a clean rust free car once, but if I didn't have these projects, I wouldn't have the confidence to tackle jobs like this.

Once again another well put together video. Amazing how far off the new torque box was. Soo sad the poor quality.

Anyone looking for Torque boxes, Spectra Premium brand, is darn good.. I did them on my 65 Fastback, I got them from NPD.. pricey, and I needed to drill the welds, and separate them, then beat them into submission.. Depending if your toe boards are still good, you'll need rebend, cut and reposition the upper portion flange, if ya don't want to cut up yer good toe boards.. They're a pain in the ass to do em, though you will very, pleased with how it stiffens the car .

Impressive work. I thought the aftermarket torque boxes did come in parts. Maybe that was just the ones for later models.

I’ve had one of each, together and in bits. I did end up splitting the one piece though. Fortunately fitted pretty good though. Any tips for welding the rockers given they are galv? I sometimes struggle for good penetration

@ProjectMustang I drilled holes in most of the rocker to weld the spot onto the inner rocker. If i need to weld to the Rocker, I grind the area. Make sure to wear a mask.

@@torqued7601 that’s pretty much what I ended up doing. Putting tech screws through and then removing to weld. Great videos! When informational! 👍🏼👍🏼

There were 3 sections in your car ... the outer rocker,, the plate in the middle, and an inner rocker panel.. I think you forgot to replace the middle plate in between the outer and the inner rocker sir !!!! that's why you had to fill in those gaps!

The NPD inner rocker comes with middle plate welded on. It runs the entire length, top to bottom.
