I love this module so much. You can get awesome polyrhythms by sending it a steady gate pulse and modulating it using sync'd LFOs.

Got one of these years ago when I got into eurorack - was all above my head and sold it for more standard oscillators - just got the Atumbra Atom version today - what a great module - amazing the sounds you can coax out of it. Bravo Émilie - you have created a timeless instrument.

Karl Hiner yeah it is, totally nuts like all the Mutable stuff. Mix in Shelves and Ripples for EQ and filtering along with the analogue VCA clipping possible in Streams and you have a real sonic landscape, not to mention adding in Peaks, Braids and Clouds.

***** Yeah give it a good go, it's a totally different sound and synthesis method to most. It's worth spending some time with and digging through all the content you can find for ideas. Also try out the 'Ominous Voice' easter egg mode. Which is a dual two operator FM full synth.

Is Rings part of Elements? Haha never mind Ben, you answered my question in a response to someone else. I just got Elements, I started with Tide v2 and then Clouds and Warps. I’ve mostly been into more straight forward modules like a lot of WMD stuff, but after using Mutables modules I’m a fan. Great video, I’ve seen it 3 or 4 times now 👍
@DivKid

it came from the right hand side of Elements yes. Modal Synthesis (aka Elements) requires an exciter and a resonator. Left side of Elements in the Exciter (interesting/tonal/samples/clicks/noise sources provide a lot of the shaping in Modal Synthesis) and right side is the resonator. Rings is just a resonator. With a bonus little click/pulse produced internally to turn into a full voice without much patching.

Hello from Toronto, Canada. Sub'd to your channel. I'm just getting started with Eurocrack, Elements is my first hit. I'm trying create warm, long ambient tones (generative, soundscape kind of stuff), do you think this module is a good fit?... I've also got a Rainmaker on order, and taking advice on what to get next. Please let me have your thoughts, and thanks!

Do you think there is potential for interesting sounds if adding an Antumbra atom to an elements? I have a nano rings & elements & I've heard that a few people have experimented with 2 or more rings. As the latter mainly processes, the benefits of multiple ones is more obvious but I'm still curious about using multi elements, not just for separate sounds but cross patching/ modulating each other. That's a side avenue for exploration that fascinates me. Antumbra's compactness makes this more practical as 2 originals would take up too much space.

if someone were going to just experiment on this it would seem like they would need a good limiter or at least a volume control, Div or anyone else: any suggestions for a good limiter or compression module that would pair good with something like this, something that can go bonkers if you're not careful?
@DivKid
@DivKid 7 жыл бұрын
Audio Damage Kompressor works well as a hard limiter for something you can go bonkers with. But I haven't felt the need to compress or limit Elements. Just been aware of levels and potential levels has been fine so far.

don't know..sometimes it convince me much..sometimes not..it is possible to have some convincing bow like violin/cello sound demo?
@DivKid
@DivKid 9 жыл бұрын
darkfaerytales I won't be making any more videos for Elements soon I don't think. Got Clouds demo to finish, Streams "5 more things" and then other manufactures like the ALM Boss Bow Tie, Manhattan Analog MA35 and CP3, AniModule XXX_Or and a lot more. I do have ideas for other videos but they will be later on. I can say it does some very convincing sounds of bells and cello and all sorts of real acoustic sounds. But you have to tweak a little bit to get the most realistic ones. There's always a more synthetic sounding one just a slight knob twist away if that makes sense. So you can do it with tweaking.

Has anyone found a source for those LED PATCH CABLES YET? The link mention below was from 5 years ago and gives the dreaded 404 not found
@DivKid
@DivKid 4 жыл бұрын
The LED cables moved along to mushi.one (web link) www.mushi.one/led-cables/ but they're no longer being made either. Surprised no one seems to be making these. I think Igor that originally made them (not the link and the Mushi ones, both him) was looking at his options to make more as it was too labour intensive to carry on.

@DivKid
@DivKid 6 жыл бұрын
Hey Jeff, not really. I don't really get the comparison unfortunately. Elements is a one voice module where the Modal is an 8 voice poly. Is it something tonally you're wanting to compare?
@wackenthaljef
@wackenthaljef 6 жыл бұрын
Oh ok!! i thaught it was a 4 voice;.thks!
@DivKid
@DivKid 6 жыл бұрын
Elements isn't 4 voices. It's a single voice. Newer firmware has a chord mode but it's preset stacked chords. Single gate and single pitch CV input so monophonic. Rings has polyphonic overlap where the release of one note can keep playing while another is played. This can be 4 voice overlapping. So imagine slowly strumming across four strings to form a chord. Still single inputs so effectively monophonic.

Can this module do everything that rings can, poly strum with rings timbre for example?
@DivKid
@DivKid 7 жыл бұрын
there's no polyphonic strum / overlap mode that Rings do. However newer version has stacked chord memory type sounds built in. Elements is a full modal synthesiser exciter and resonator. Rings is just the resonator. However Rings has the input pulse generator to strike the resonator so does still function as a voice. Although more basic.

I didn't realise I had to use my right hand exclusively. Left hand - to keep my arm from covering most of the video leaning over the module, could also have been how I was reaching around tripods and stands filming the video.
