@RsX714 she transforms in to dark phoenix when she runs out of health if her super metre is on level 5. when she's dark phoenix her health goes down slowly, thats why she keeps using that healing shield.

@spyrousseraphim It's about Balance.. Phoenix is immensely powerful, so she has to do a ton of damage. But for balancing issues, she must then be a push over in the defense department. This is also not far-removed from the comics, because although she has immense power, even Dark Phoenix doesn't seem to be very "tough".

@Kuribohchaos8 dark phoenix loses health as time passes, which is why it'll kill her, she's taking damage just from being there while shes getting hit by it, that's why its common to see X-Factor used with her, it counters that health loss

@RemiusTheAwesome Theres a really cheap trick that most people may know about now. Normally its random to counter the air crossover combo, but you can circle the joystick and press the SA button ONCE and it will work no matter what direction as long as you circle it a sec before the Yellow flash

@spyrousseraphim She has lost control and "died" several times, and one would assume that a direct punch, from say the Hulk, would put her out of commission. The catch is that she is so powerfully badass, that he he would probably never have a chance to hit her. But IF, theoretically, she was distracted or something, and Hulk snuck (possible? lol) up behind her and clobbered her over the head, she would more than likely be knocked out cold. In lamen's terms, she's all offense, no defense.

@jfari101 Agreed, she's much more of a threat on the ground than anything, people just got really used to her easy air fireball to stall, and they get blown up by it. I think her restriction is more for Dark Phoenix more than Phoenix, because you KNOW it's free chip damage in Dark Phoenix mode, regular Phoenix just has to deal with it. I'm REALLY happy that X-Factor isn't so much of a comeback factor, since damage is lower across the board, we'll have more legit matches, and that makes me :D

Just to clarify Pheonix has -420,00hp Dark Pheonix has half of that -so about 210,000 Thats why a proton cannon wont kill pheonix but would kill dark pheonix

@Kuribohchaos8 It only gives you a full super meter if you land the Meteor version (down special), so if a phoenix is on your team, you can counter down at all costs if you want to. (although being hit upwards is just as dangerous, since it's what does the most damage) If you really are afraid of Dark Pheonix, use Snapbacks and KO ASAP. That way they can't save her last. It's more than worth the meter, since Lv3 X factor Dark Pheonix is a team wrecker.

@Ryogen Not completely true, i think that air Tag combo is uber cheap because if it's not countered it gives like 70% of super, and they if they continue it and tag out to the next person it gives 1 full super meters, so do that twice and you got Phoenix ready and since you cant do anything about her transforming you can hold the tag button and switch.

@mmking9999 I don't think it's that Dark Phoenix players don't know this. It's that those who don't succeed with her get her killed before they can even build back up one level of meter...or they expend so much life doing it that the healing doesn't have benefits. One confirm, one combo and she's dead.

@MentalGinger Some of you might want to check out that manual or read more about the game. I can't switch in YOUR Phoenix with doing a quarter circle and pressing Assist button. Your phoenix will be dead before you ever get to 5 bars.

Instead of spending your meter for healing field, just attack. There was a reason why X-factor level 3 Phoenix is preferred.

@howlbigbadwolf there actually is, CVS2 (capcom vs snk 2) simply because you could use ANYONE in that game with ANY groove type and be good with that character, instead of everyone using top tier characters all day.

@Kuribohchaos8 She'll be underplayed, and harder to play, but not trash. People abuse her fireballs in the air, especially as Dark Phoenix, so what's the problem with just staying mostly on the ground? She'll still be a good character, just not as prone to spam and forced to think more logically.

How does one do air combos successfully? My air combos suck and the opponent gets out of place....

@AzumangaFan13 IMO they should have kept the current x factor numbers, but instead, make the xfactor levels relevant not only to how many members left on your team, but ALSO on the enemy team. i think its fair to say when theres one character left on both sides, a lv 1 x factor would be appropriate right?

@kevinlemus95 Using L attacks causes you to start moving away from the opponent, so stick to mostly M and H, followed by Team Aerial Combos by using a directional input + S. Rinse and repeat and you can get some pretty good damage without even knowing how to use a character's specials.

@Ryogen LOL you need 5 levels to be Dark Pheonix, it would be the same if she was the last person so i just made it so i didn't have to wait for the team to die and i never used the rest of the team so you could call them already dead

@Fullmetal392 She's really not that bad. She was a pain when the game first released, but now whenever most people see Phoenix on a team, they just snap her in and kill her before she can get five meters, and right there you got a 3v2 advantage.

@Kuribohchaos8 also all the characters have lower health and since she was pretty much able to be killed in 1 combo in the original she will probably die in 3 hits on ultimate.lol

@AzumangaFan13 honestly from really extensively using her, i find her more powerful on the ground than in the air. the methods of starting some huge damaging combos are insane closer to the ground compared to her air game (which would only consist of her downward beak attack) i think it would be smarter to nerf her one special in air restriction with a small loophole in which you must air dash after to get another special in, and then nothing after other than that nerf x factor all together!

@Kuribohchaos8 I know storm is definitely like that after three lightning spheres in the air she comes down and there is very little that can be done you can't even block! I'm a storm fan for life so i've used her long enough to notice that flaw my only resort is as soon as she hits the ground hit low for an offensive defense so if Phoenix is the same way I'm not surprised...

@spyrousseraphim I think she like that for balance issues. She is insanely powerful with attacks and for her to have high defense would make her too powerful. Trust me I played with people who own others (including me) with her so fast defense is usually not an issue.

the messed up part is, when UMVC# gets here, shes trash. She cant do more than 1 special move in the air, like Fireball then teleport. Even cant block after. Shes just open all over.

@londonbon nah, i cant say that, because MVC2 was broken but it knda took still to do the broken things. Like infinites and assist resets. In this game you press 4 buttons at the same time and you kill each character in 1 combo. And Dark Phoenix if you x-factor with her, a baby can mash buttons and win literally.

Phoenix should be the ONLY character that has her life continuously draining, and CAN NOT recover by using healing field or rage mode. Then she would be fair to play with.

well 1 issue with this vid is that whoever was on the other team just failed to attack. so thats why maybe phoenix won. maybe if dormammu attacked when he lifted her it wouldf have been over and we wouldnt be commenting on this video 1 min and 16 sec later....

(assuming the opposing team stays with 3 characters) as long as each team is equal in terms of live characters, it stays at lv 1 x factor. 3v3, 2v2, 1v1 if the player is lacking one character, that player gets lv 2, the other guy stays at lv1 if the player lacks two, then that guy gets a lv 3. the other guy stays at lv1 if its 3 v 1, and the losing team kills a character (and hasnt used x factor yet hypothetically) then instead of lv 3, it will turn into lv 2. etc.

@YumeiX94 i wonder how many ppl who post dont realize i made this BEFORE the game was released therefore there was no online or ppl i could play against. and yes i can do even better on a real player now, but this game doesnt have replays so i cant record. and i dont like this game anyway

@bigtooth1333 yeah, he did it to this person he was playing. now if you're playing someone who is good at defending, and timing they can punish mistakes in her uses. pheonix is a glass cannon... and dark pheonix is an eggshell cannon...you can't get hit much before your dead.

@cardiacthapoet its not just her though, you got Wesker and Sentinel too. Also the main thing i dont like, that made me give up on this game, is how many times you can get lifted up off the floor and you cant roll to escape like MVC2

@FearSRK notice how i said phoenix as opposed to dark phoenix? contrary to the possible argument of, phoenix has the ability to resurrect as dark phoenix, thats only if you have 5 bars. players who use phoenix in higher level play get snapped in or are forced to use phoenix without 5 meters and know that a glass cannon is always a glass cannon, no matter where she is on your team. yes, she is dangerous, but sentinel is a way more stable character. i use both anyways so i dont really give a shit
