Ride with me as I drop off the 5400 to get an upgrade and then stick around as I unload and learn how to use the Lane Shark.

Just a couple of suggestions..............If your rear tires are'nt filled with ballast fluid, that would be more beneficial than making a ballast box for the rear. Nothing to hook up, nothing in the rear when backing in tight places, and would have plenty of rear weight for that implement. Second, get a spinner for your steering wheel. Really handy when doing lots of maneuvering. Beats the heck out hand turning the steering wheel. And makes turning much eaiser and quicker. And third, wrap those hydraulic hoses with hydralic hose wrap. Will have better protection and keeps both hoses tightly together. Less chance for snagging and puncturing a hose. Thanks for the video.

Great info about the 3rd function switch. I have an MX6000 with a grapple and was looking at this setup wondering what I'd need to change and your video had everything I needed to know! I like the idea of the toggle switch + the normal grapple 3rd function switch. Thanks for taking the time to share your experience!

I've thought about getting an attachment like this for my Massey 4708. It's rated at I believe 17.2 gpm on the hydraulic flow. I've heard that it would cause the hydraulic oil to overheat causing internal damage to the pump. Just curious what LaneShark, or your dealer told you about this? Have you experienced any issues? Great video. Thanks!

I’m about 30 hours in with the LaneShark and no issues. My dealer plumbed the return straight to sump to keep the fluid cooler. There are 3 different motors for different size tractors. Mine is the middle one. Looks like you would need the ‘bigger’ one. You can contact LaneShark directly and they will gladly answer any of your questions. Good luck!

Very Cool. I to have a MX5400. I really need one of these. Have you tried it around drainage ditches, pond dams, ect.? And what is the Cost? Thank you. Great Video.

Thanks for your reply. Yes I have used it around my pond and it works well. You kinda have to think ahead and visualize what it will be doing when it is in different angles but I just don’t go too fast. As far as cost… it may be different with yours but I already had the third function but there were still some things to add hydraulic wise. It needed a switch and an extra hose that returned directly to sump. After the cost of the unit, the plumbing, and labor it was just shy of $5k.

I have 250 acres and with just all the roads and paths that I have cleaned up in the 7 months that I’ve had it, I would have spent more paying someone than the cost of the unit. I cleaned up a road through one spot that was just under a mile last Monday. It was worth every penny to me.

I priced one this week $5000 plus tax and that doesn’t include installation or their valve kits about $700 cheaper last year

Overall, I really like this implement. I would rate it a touch higher than 4 out of 5. The only reason I wouldn’t rate it a 5 is because sometimes changing positions can be a bit cumbersome if it’s not in just the right place. Out of the possible 11 positions (I think), I really only use three. I use the ‘home’ position, and the offset horizontal, but mainly the offset 90° vertical works best for most of my needs. I have a couple of miles of roads/trails that run through my farm and the LaneShark keeps them nice and open. I’ve never really measured it but I feel like I can easily reach limbs up to 12-13 feet high.
