@00:26, is it possible to remediate, repair and replace severe salt water intruded electronics? I'm Retired US Navy Aviation Electronics Technician, a chunk of my time was addressing salt water related corrosion on and in avionics systems. The #1 thing that can be done to mitigate salt water damage? Immediate flushing the area and electronics with fresh water, if able remove the electronics boxes, remove any batteries on the boards or in the boxes before hand and toss those batteries and then literally dunk the electronics and electricals in fresh water, open the boxes, dunk the boxes/boards/panels several times, agitate the water, if the water gets cloudy or just use constant flow of water (fill at the top, drain from the bottom because salt water is heavier than fresh), use a plastic soft bristle tooth brush and... I think the old NA01-16-540 US Navy Avionics Corrosion Control Manual is on the internet someplace. That tome is filled with information on how we do that job.

On one other of these car repair channels, the guy had similar issues to Sam. This chap washed all his electronics with Ionized water and only had to replace one computer. This fellow I think had previously worked making computer circuit boards and they were always washed with Ionized water after manufacture to remove all the soldering flux and corrosion they can cause.

All I could think of was taking a pressure washer and some anti corrosive/salt cleaning chemicals and just powerwashing the interior and electronics. After removing the carpet and seats of course haha, probably has some drain plugs you can take out so would drain. Would make working on it a lot more better.
@802Garage

If you ever have to use that seat motor trick again, see if you can get a drill chuck around the motor shaft. Then you can get the drill to spend the motor instead of your hand doing it for 15 plus minutes. Usually, you probably won't be able to fit a drill, but you could get one of those flexible extensions for a drill and get a small chuck on the shaft that way. Even a flexible extension on a Dremel meant to hold drill bits for example.

It is not a surprise that you found Ford and Volvo parts in the Aston. Ford used to own the Jag, Volvo, and Aston back in the 2000's. When I was an intern at Ford Global Purchase, Ford sourced their parts to be interchangeable in their product lines (economies of scale to push the parts price down). Even if the genuine parts are not available from Ford, you might be able to find an after-market compatible part. Good luck, Sam, and looking forward to the next video.

Hey Sam , Just experiencing the same issue. no power for me as well , removed the Bcm on F-pace its destroyed with salt water. One possible solution that MAY work looks as follows. If you still have the dedicated bcm , you can try to send it out to the electronics board repair shop and try to swap memory module from original bcm to the new one. If the memory part is not damaged , you may get lucky and run the car with no problems. Regards from Georgia . Really looking forward for this project.

I love that even after not being able to fix the flooded Viper, Sam is ALL IN to give it another go with a flooded Aston. Man, I know the feeling of excitement and enthusiasm to want to buy the next project and hopefully have it turn out great! SO many beautiful flood cars that seem like they have great potential. Some actually run and drive but have a certificate of destruction. I was really excited about that $250k 2019 GT3 RS flood car that just sold for $63k! So tempting but like Sam said, it could need an entire new power train. That's quite the gamble but SO tempting! Tavarish just couldn't resist buying that P1 and so far NOBODY has told him he got a killer deal. But, maybe it will end up as a killer deal. I hope this car ends up as a killer deal for Sam. Great content, Sam! Keep inspiring me NOT to buy a flood car!😁

Yes, it's just a matter of how much money you have to spend. This would likely need a complete wiring harness plus any fuse block that got any water on it. Also, the engine may need rebuilt if the water got inside. Would also likely need new exhaust and catalytic converter if they were under the car where water could flood it.

The wiring harnesses has to be toast. If salt water was able to wick in because of the stranded wire, that car will be a nightmare a few years from now. I know some of the pinball guys actually place old wiring harnesses in the dishwasher to clean and the results are pretty amazing. Granted, not from salt water damage, more about decades of grime.
