My autistic son was nonverbal & a flight risk when he started preschool. Once he got into kindergarten he blossomed. He started talking & making friends. Now you can’t stop him from talking!!! 😂 I’m praying in due time baby girl will find her voice. Either way she is such a precious angel! 🙏🏾🥰

My bf's daughter became "verbal" when school got involved when she was 5. Now, at 27, you'd never know she'd ever been nonverbal. Often, intervention is awesome & necessary!❤ I know Mikko will talk their ears off one day😂❤

@potatuhtot51254 ай бұрын
@@7227YES hello☺️. Non-verbal doesn’t always equal “can’t speak”. It has mostly has to do with verbal communication. For example in this video, when Mikko when was using echolalia she was saying “yeah!”, she had no connection with what she was saying vs what she really wanted to do, she was just repeating the response she’s heard before to a question such as that. I hope that helped somehow lol

I have noticed that when I'm playing with my daughter, other kids seem to gravitate towards us. So I try to kind of be her wing man, so to speak, and then I kind of help translate until they are comfortable enough playing together without me but staying near enough to help as necessary. ❤

I was going to suggest this too. Just play with her on the equipment and generally other people start to join in. Play catch, or tag, start little games together and a group of kids will inevitably join in. At this stage it isn't so much about making friends. It's more about being in a situation where you can play in parallel to other kids and perhaps there will a connection with another child. Maybe there won't be, but being a part of a social situation regardless, is a great thing.

As an O.T., I’m so glad you explain things to people, like echolalia, and why it seems that your dgtr is verbalizing / answering when it truly isn’t an actual « answer « . It can be heartbreaking as a parent to go through this, and honestly, as a Therapist also, but there are those beautiful, unexpected rewards. I started working with a 2yr old nonverbal severely autistic boy that started to make some verbalisations, but his mother and I couldn’t understand him. Then one day at the age of 9 we finally could piece something together, « What do you got? » (He was referring to some toys I had for him on the clinic floor ready for our session) . He had been speaking so fast that we couldn’t understand him! We sat on the clinic floor crying we were so happy. It was the first time he had said anything intelligible, and relevant, to what we were doing . He is now a young adult and primary nonverbal, but is able to use a computer for communication for some things. It was my privilege to work with this family for so long, and I hope that you’re getting the supporting Therapies that you need for your daughter to thrive ❤😊

I'm so thankful that you have decided to share your story and hers with the world because like you I also felt so alone. Watching the kids in her daycare and school try to engage with her with excitement and her in turn yell and wave them away or run away makes me feel so horrible. Just trusting in God that He will lead her to the people she needs and opens her mind and mouth to community better 🙏🏾 I love that Mikko is saying HI and acknowledging others. She is such a joy to watch overcome things and Watching your Gentle Parenting is a blessing for me to see someone else on this same journey with their little one.

Normal: what were taught by NT society. But when I look at what's NORMAL, I see the world calling us abnormal because we don't care what they think. Normalize our differences because autistics are the ones who bring innovations to the world BECAUSE they are in touch with their inner world. Who knows, inside that quiet mind may be the next thi g that changes humanity for the better.
