this seems like a perfectly reasonable first 500 but i do not think it will dissuade me from my current plan of starting with lord solar + 30 rough riders

I will say that I wouldn’t take triple sentinel because I think my opponent would probably stake me through the heart with a crossbow. Watching 180 pts coming back to the board would probably cause an aneurysm lol.

Wallet-wise, I'd recommend an el-classico battle cannon russ over the sentinels. 1 russ kit vs 2 sentinel kits is easier on IRL funds, and the battle cannon variant gets full hit rerolls against targets on objectives, making it FTMP independent of orders. My philosophy on small armies is leader, battleline, damage-dealer, and designated big thing.

For the tryhard will bottomless pockets, a Death Korps Marshal w/ death mask, 20 Kriegers, bombast FOBs and a battle cannon russ would be frustratingly tough and intimidatingly powerful

I think a russ/heavy vehicle is too big for a 500pt game. 500pts should be infantry/light vehicles imo.

Fantastic! I played two 500 points games and won them both hands down with minimal losses. Key was always Straken with 20 Catachans. One list complemented this with Creed, Kasrkin, a sentinel and rough riders. The other complemented it with a sentinel, a hellhound and 20 DKOK. I have way more models than gaming experience at this point :D

Dont go for the combat patrols, but look for cadia stands boxes. I have found them for $110 which saves you $50 per box. Same contents as the combat patrol box

For new players I think an Armoured sentinel has some more tankiness for some margin of error, and its ability only really being for itsell might help with information overload of not having overlapping buffs

•1 command squad, officer with powerfist and plasma pistol & Kurov's aquila. 2 melta gunners, 1 medic, 1 vox & nork deddog all in a chimera •10 shock troops 1 flamer 1 meltagun in chimera x2 = 495 points if you want to make it 1500 points add a shadowsword, enginseer and 2 rogal dorns and thtas my armageddon steel legion army

I'm a bit nervous about only having one infantry unit. I think I'd consider dropping one or two of the sentinels to put in an additional infantry unit, maybe scions or kasrkin.

Yeah, I probably would have split the 20 man blob into 2, just in case. You can still attach the command squad to one of them.

How about Creed (55/55) attached to an infantry squad /w mortar (60/115) and a Basilisk (150/265) in the backline. One lasgun scout sentinel (60/325) spotting targets. Plus 20 DKoK (130/455) with a regimental Enginseer (45/500) attached? Not being able to bring back a whole stack of three sentinels hurts a bit, but I think this list is better value when you try to expand to more points.

Lot of anti tank at 500. My escalation league is limiting to toughness 10 at that level. I’m thinking elite troops.

What do you think about the new and improved Grenade Launchers instead of Meltaguns in the Infantry Squad? Yeah they’re not as good against vehicles but they’re good against everything else and they have the same range as all the rest of the weapons in the squad.

Cool. Hello there, a question, I want to acquire mi first army ever. So far I have wacht the, SP(Love the Blood Ravens) , guards, Tyranids and eldar gameplay since they the most appealing aesthetically and lore wise to me. If a have to cherry pick one faction to start I would prefer the Astra Militarum. The idea of just regular dudes facing the crazy stuff of 40k is very appealing. I just don't know if the are good for a newbie. Can I start with guard, and learn everything with this faction (and win😂)?

Hi i have a question. i just get 1.6 points sheet for units and it should be most newest one and there cadian command squad is 65 points, here in your video you have them on 80 points.
