Hey Cameron, thanks for the round up! A few days ago you asked for content ideas and I think you have a strong candidate in absynth. I'd really like to see how you mess with it, so a extended series about that synth would be more than awesome. I really like your practical approach instead of just showing how to dial in a patch. Great stuff! \m/

Hey dude! For sure, glad you liked it! And definitely a good idea, I'll have to sketch out some ideas and get some kind of walkthrough guide together for it for twisty goodness. I'll be sure to give you a shout out as well! Thanks for watching!

what makes a reese bass so satisfying? why do I go to make a pad in harmor and always end up with the 900th iteration of a reese bass I'll probably never use?

Damn, this is quite an awesome comparison video, and it's amazing to see how you've grown over the years as well 😳 definitely inspired to sit down with various plugins now and create same patches in different plugins. That's gonna be my homework, and I've definitely learned something from this video 😋😌

Cool to see fabfilter in there. I have it, and I guess I've bought into the rhetoric that its a good, but polite synth. I've been demoing Strobe 2 for a heavier solution, but maybe I should be looking at what I have a bit more.

For sure, it's a neat little synth! A lot more than meets the eye to it. I don't use it all that much, but it is definitely really capable!

People are always hating on Absynth, and idk why. I've always liked it for a rompler, I think it just plain sounds good. I'm quite over Serum as well, its just too cpu intensive. If I want to spend all that processing power, I'll fire up Arturia Pigments, which I'm blown away by every time I fire it up. One of my favorite soft synths that NOBODY talks about is Largo by Waldorf. Nave is pretty cool too, and so is Wiggle and Spire but these are CPU hogs as well. People just like Serum because Kanye uses it, cracked versionto boot! I had a Waldorf Pulse at one time, so I'm pretty partial to anything Waldorf. Regarding people hating on Absynth, like Too Short said "you gotta let a ho be a ho"

fm 8 sounds so thin though
@VenusTheory
@VenusTheory 6 жыл бұрын
FM8 doesn't really handle stereo panning all that well, but still an excellent synth! Not really a daily driver for me, but it definitely has its place, especially with bell sounds and digital pads.

What's on the processing?

Dope. Thank you. Are you band splitting on this chain?
@VenusTheory
@VenusTheory 6 жыл бұрын
Hey dude! Nope! No frequency splitting at all! I used to do that, but honestly it became such a tedious pain in the ass that I focused on refining more simple sounds with just a single processing chain. However, I sometimes utilize frequency splitting when doing more heavily resampled work. But, more often than not I'm just using what I can get out of a single strip + maybe some effect tracks.
@hrlysctt
@hrlysctt 6 жыл бұрын
Dope. Love the processing you have on there btw. Sounds nice and classic. And thank you for taking the time to reply!
@VenusTheory
@VenusTheory 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks dude! I find that keeping things simple usually gets better results rather than drowning yourself in hours of processing. Occam's Razor and whatnot. And no problem at all, feel free to hit me up if you have any questions or requests!
