Completed my first Tour in a 57 Chevy, spent months prepping and she did not skip a beat in 1600 miles… however I did redo my brakes because of a pull to the left. New soft lines, calipers and pass….. wanna guess what happened… it started pulling left again half way through.

As a person who lives in Hawai'i...and cannot go on a decent road trip...I truly feel for you. All these part failures you and others undergo seem to be endemic now. It's as though manufacturing in the preceding decades got so good that failures seemed less commonplace. Investors in manufacturing seem to believe there's no money in making parts that WORK and seldom FAIL. Perhaps investing in manufacturers who have NO SHAME and produce garbage is a safer bet for a lasting, profitable revenue stream. Just look at the toll this has extracted from YOU and your friends. Wishing you all the best. Aloha.

@@LunarOutlawsGarage It can be a challenge. Back in the 1960s and 1970s, we actually had Hawai'i Raceway Park and actual "speed shops" out here. Sadly, I was actually too young to have ALL the fun that entailed. We have even had our old hot rod scene in my youth. We DO have the JDM scene out here, big time, though. That's something. Here in Honolulu, though...where is there to go? So those who can fly to the mainland sometimes just to enjoy all the fun out there. I have to admit that the FLOCKS of cargo airliners we have DO get us the stuff we need; there are way more jets now than when I was a kid. Oh...the FedEx guy's pulling up to the neighbors' house. Is that..an...an exhaust system I see? LOL! Please take care. Aloha!

Great rant! Seems were all getting bad parts nowadays more than usual, it's great to let everyone know what's failing, we can all learn from each other of the bad parts.👍

Unfortunately, even the soft lines have been custom made because Mercedes-Benz uses a bubble flare, and we live in a time that parts stores no longer stock anything in store
@captaindew3106

not everything can be get from part store or online parts these daze and I still can not find the oil pan for my project online cause a 1989 Shelby Dakota or a 1991 Dakota V8 don't have any engine oil pan in stock and a 5.2L Magnum or a 360LA or 5.9L Magnum will not work on a 318LA engine and a 1st Gen Ram oil pan will not work either cause the Dakota got a different type of truck oil pan. So my work is on hold for till I actually can find one either a junkyard perhaps.

@@oscarwalton1188 well basically it can not be a 5.9L know as a 360c.i cause the rear crankcase bearing is bigger than the 318LA and before 1991 cause the 1992 they went Magnum using a 5.9L Magnum oil pan my lil brother show me the difference on it and the Dakota does not use a full size truck or van oil pan for a regular 318LA engine.

We hear you, about 1/3 of what we buy is either manufactured incorrectly or mislabeled/mispackaged, alot of time returning parts. This is way more than a hobby it's the way people feed their families and pay their bills. Wilwood has nothing for you? From what I've been told, they like to work with builders to create more systems to widen their customer base

No reason to be sorry for ranting. You have poured heart and soul into your car just as many of us have only to be let down by a company that should care more on quality. I have had a run of 4 power steering pumps on my one F150... garbage. I am working on my video now about how the Mustang developed a huge exhaust leak and I had to take the 02. Stuff always happens in the car community, but its something else entirely when it isn't your work or actions that cause it.

So disappointing,Brian. Not really understanding what the failure is. Is it shearing off the retainer, then the pins come out? Maybe brimbo is the answer.
