So I have learning difficulties, like a bunch of them, and after on-off driving for the past 3 years I’m doing the actual driving test on Wednesday. If you struggle or feel worried about driving manual here’s some tricks we developed through trial and error: 1. When finding that balance between the clutch and the gas, take off your shoes to truly feel it. 2. Find a big PAVED lot or road, we had one that trucks use but was public which was perfect size for learning to switch gear. 3. Have the teacher check how much gas they use when increasing, staying, and shifting gears. Those numbers can help you understand the use of the thrust. 4. When driving long distances DON’T keep your hands in a strained position. Teachers are firm on how you hold the wheel but when you’re alone or with a parent you’re gonna end up exhausted and it shortens your effective learning time in the road. 5. Don’t enter into traffic until you can easily shift between the first 3 gears, know how to slow down, and can appropriately react to “stop” commands. (If you can’t slow or stop when asked you’re gonna crash one day). Remember to let your teacher and guardian know that despite it being hectic that adding fear and raised voices will not help you regain control and confidence. (For us that was the biggest hurdle. After about a month practicing at home on not freaking out I went from barely being able to make a simple turn to picking up cues and lessons instantly)

Everyone was once in his position and it’s nerve racking. I get he’s been learning but hasn’t been consistent at it (I don’t think) yet lately he’s been learning to drive in a manual and auto. To learn quickly he needs to learn in a manual only if that’s the case

I recommend your brother to also get contact lenses. When I wore glasses, it was awful to drive, it was like tunnel vision. With contacts, I was instantly such a better driver.
