Shia Lebeof definitely helped me back into the church. I’ve never heard someone from my generation want to join the Catholic Church, let alone someone I used to see on TV. That led me down the rabbit hole and one I learned there were actually people out there taking church seriously it made me take it more seriously too.

I have also watched follow up interviews with him as well and I do think that he has truly turned his life around and sincerely converted. I watched an interview he did with John Bernthal and it was quite good, besides the profanity. He was explaining to Bernthal how Catholics do not believe that mass is just a get together and meal but a recreation of the crucifixion of Christ. So he clearly has converted sincerely. May God bless you on your journey. I was blessed to be raised and educated by Catholics who took their faith seriously so I can not feel for where you have been as I have not been there but I wish you all the best. God bless.

That’s wonderful. I love to hear young people realizing the do whatever you want, casual sex culture is a recipe for a miserable life & turning to Jesus instead. I hope you make an effort to invite other young people to Mass. You should pray on other ways to get more young people involved in the Church without compromising or dumbing down Christianity, maybe you could start a Bible study, a young adult group, etc. The Bible Timeline Great Adventure studies by Jeff Cavin seem to be the best study out there to make the entire Bible understandable.

@@OanhNguyen-nl8mva beautiful Asian Vietnamese woman with a beautiful Asian Vietnamese man! Godly people as they say I always wanted to say that though I don't think I have a right to choose because if my desires are not wrong but inferior to Christs decision then who am I to say? I'm implying that I want an Asian wife who's Christian because In my own personal self mind I think since I'm Hispanic and half native American half white European in blood but I look Asian it would logically better if I marry an Asian Christian woman but I've never had any relationships with Asian people at all but I have had a cute Hispanic but white looking woman in highschool who was some what of a friend and I've reconnected with that ginger and she's Catholic bible thumping woman so It seems as though God is telling me this is superior since I already have this relationship in my palms and heart should I marry her? I've never had any deep relationship with a strange woman before but obviously we become less stranger time passing I guess if she says yes then it's obvious so I'll see to it. I want what your man is having a beautiful relationship with a woman intimately meaningful and worshipping God. I could've probably married her within the year of highschool graduation but I was a coward and in sin so I feared I wasn't worthy but life is gonna hurt later on with regret so I might as well cringe and do it now if she rejects me than doing it later and never knowing if it could've had been something more abundantly meaningful. Who knows but I'll stop pondering ill stop pondering for the next 3 years like I have these 3 past years it's time to get married I hope! Oh and pray can't become lazy 😅. But yeah I told the same to a Hispanic but Asian women whos name Anna Lam and I told her wow you're beautiful and I saw a Filipino guy with his wife and I thought hes not Filipino? Well God I guess there isn't anything wrong with that? Then I guess I'll be having the same but I'm a different man and I'll be having a different woman . I'm tired of being single though I'm 21 life it wasn't long ago when I was 10 years old so I don't trust what I do with wasting my time I should do what I gotta do and I feel it objectively on my mind and I'm gonna all things good for God amen I thought to that now I really need action it Lord.

While that is true, remember that in our personal lives, when those in our family and friends circle who look up to us, see us change and become devoted to Chrisr, they see the source of where that light comes from and aspire to follow us to Christ. Same with celebrities, there are people who are lost and look up to these people, but they will realize it is Christ who leads them. My spouse used to hate Catholics and tore me rosary. I was able to open him up to the faith little at a time, and almost every male celeb he admired all converted to Catholicism or were Catholics already thst he wasnt aware of. Now he understands where their strength during suffering came from. He has twice said maybe I will someday be Catholic. Remember, God can bring good from any source, even among the secular culture... I won't undermine God's way, we just have to trust His way and His timing.

It's crazy how last week I had watched a 2 1/2 hour debate with Trent and this really sarcastic atheist and I felt like I could never become Catholic (I'm not even Christian, just a deist I suppose) because I wouldn't be able to defend the religion or my reasons for believing against all objections. And just now Trent mentioned not needing to answer every objection to convert. I really appreciate what Trent does and this was arrived right when I needed it.

Thank God. None of us have all the answers to everything… yet at some point we trust enough to have faith. I don’t fully understand electricity, or how medicine works - yet I “believe” because when I flip a switch a light comes on, and when I take an Ibuprofen my headache goes away. As we study Catholicism and pray, it can all come together for us, making more sense than the alternatives - even if we haven’t studied every single aspect of it for decades. That’s just not needed. For most of the history of Christendom (up to the last hundred years) most believers were not even literate. Yet, they knew enough to have faith. They believed in the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist. They opened their hearts to Christ and allowed His grace to transform their souls more and more into His image. Of course Christians have always struggled to overcome sin - and you will find no shortage of examples of this throughout history - yet, the fundamental driving force of this faith for over 2000 years is that of a love story… this all powerful God who created us loves us and wants to draw each of us closer to Himself every day.

I didn't revert back to my Catholic faith because of some celebrity's fame or fortune. I reverted back to my Catholic faith because God used Shia's conversion to guide me back to Him. And I'm not a follower of any celebrity and I couldn't care less about any of them. But Shia's testimony that he shared with Bishop Barron was so powerful, impactful, and in-depth that I found myself listening to it countless times. Because he spoke on so many truths and things that it would be criminal to oversimplify his testimony. He touched on so many important aspects about life and about our faith that it really spoke to me. And God knew how serious and adamant I was about wanting to be excommunicated from the Catholic Church. Because one day while in mass, I had this thought of wanting to permanently leave the Catholic Church. But God heard my thoughts loud and clear and He had other plans in mind for me. Because literally the next day while scrolling through my phone I saw an article mentioning Shia's conversion to Catholicism. So naturally, I followed that rabbit hole. And then so many other things started happening in my life at that time that I couldn't deny that God was reaching out to me. And sure, the atheists and agnostics and naysayers may say that it's purely coincidental. But I know that it wasn't, nothing is coincidental. And what truly brought me back to the Catholic Church was stumbling across adoration and sitting in silence in front of the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ. He alone is what truly brought me back. But God uses people to do His will, so let's not be cynical about who He chooses. If anything, I think it's amazing that God transformed the lives of these people. And now they can spread God's gospel to more people because of their station in life and the platform that they have. I find that to be a huge blessing. I see Shia not for the fame that he has but just as my fellow human being and brother in Christ. And I'm thankful to him and to God because I am reborn again in Christ's love. I give all praise and thanksgiving to our Father that I was born a Catholic and that I am blessed to be His. The greatest inheritance that I have ever received is my Christian faith.

When I reverted (cause I was a lukewarm Catholic) during the rona lockdowns. I was all feelings and excitement, if not for videos like these and my dad to keep me grounded I might've been a bit too extreme in my views. And years later the honeymoon phase is over. Now comes the hard part. I hope that all these converts get lots of prayers because once the high feeling wears off, now comes the 'marriage' the struggle, the cross.

Very true. I was baptized 12 years ago. After 3 years i kept praying the rosary, but i stopped going to Mass and had a doubtful lifestyle. When corona hit i started going to confession and Mass again. Had some up and downs until last year when i started to going to Mass multiple times per week, praying everyday and being more public about my faith. And now i know...nothing is guaranteed...everything is Gods grace (without it we cant be good) and like you say the cross comes. And im getting a lot of Cross but im learning to love God because He is God and not because i get a fuzzy feeling.

Yeah, it can be hard to keep up with the faith sometimes, especially when life changes happen. I felt really on fire as Catholic in college, mellowed when I started a new job, caught the flame again in lockdown, picked up and dropped certain prayer practices and meditations depending on my schedule and mood, and am in a spot where I can go a couple of weeks in deep mediation and then drop back down to some bare minimum prayers. It really is a journey and I think we should try to develop more on a dynamic prayer life as we go through life. Trying to get an Advent and Christmas plan going as my life and work situation has changed again 😅 never a boring moment when being a Catholic

There's a wealth of information online to learn about Catholicism. I listened to priests, homilies, these apologist channels and if I had a specific question, could always look it up. Lots of Catholic sites to read things, or channels to watch interviews. Catholic answers is great for quick answers. I did this, not to convert, but to just find out about it myself from Catholic sources. I've always been Christian, but decided it was time to find out about the RCC, not from how protestants view it, but from actual Catholic sources. It did not at all move me to want to become Catholic. I like Trent and some Catholic channels though and am ecumenical.

My main concern with actors and other artists converting is that artistic personalities are often very volatile and emotional. I've experienced that in my personal life as well that artists converted and then stopped practising shortly afterwards because it just didn't engage them emotionally in the same way as before. I am a convert of almost 19 years myself and I know it's a struggle to stay focused - and even more so if you are a very emotional person whose whole private and professional life is full of people who are against the faith. Then it's very difficult to stay determined. There are artists like that of course, who walk the walk their whole lives, but many, especially celebrities who are very fragile or those who converted for shallow reasons tend to fall away.

Public figures such as entertainers especially have pressure on them. I really enjoy Trent's commentary on different issues. He's even corrected some misconceptions I've had about the RCC. I'm non-denominational and I've attended an Evangelical Free Church in the past, but I've become increasingly interested in Catholicism. It seems the most logical and researched.

I know every time I find out there is a celebrity that shares my faith, it’s a little endearing. You know, something outside of our normal, “they share my birthday!” Or “they’re from my state.” Sometimes, you can even feel it in the way they behave, or maybe it’s the Holy Spirit granting some sort of spiritual connection. At the same time, there’s a weight that has to come with being openly Christian in such a secular (maybe even satanic) place like Hollywood. And, there is even a skepticism that’s there too.

When examining individuals associated with pop culture (which has a huge effect on society at large), the percentage of people that prominently promote Christian values and beliefs is very small. This has been trending in the wrong direction for decades. I believe that examples such as the individuals mentioned in this video give hope to Christians that this trend will reverse.

Yes we should pray for anybody that comes into the church a lot of times. It is a struggle when you come across some thing that you may not understand or necessarily agree with. I also wouldn’t be too critical of Miss Ali’s statements, only because from hearing her speak in interviews, debates, or just talking about her personal life. It seems that that is just The manner in which she speaks. all the points are still well taken, because I think we all fall into the category. I’ve been so happy for conversion of anybody that we might just take it for granted, and forget to pray for them. and yes, remember to study and routine. What is good that is how you can defeat things that you might not understand or disagree with because of lack of knowledge it is a race to the finish. May we truly seek To honor God

Catholicism is an odd religion that oftentimes attracts the scrupulous, yet scrupulosity impedes actual practice of the faith. Keeping this in mind with celebrity converts: they're scrupled not only by themselves, but by their fans (including ones that may have become their fans specifically because of their conversion). There's also the concern of celebrities doing this for the sake of generating attention or cultivating a new fanbase they otherwise wouldn't have, leaving many to question their sincerity. Think of the Parable of the Sower - with celebrity converts, my concern is that they are especially susceptible to being rocky seeds or thorn seeds. I'd say these celebrity converts need our prayers especially, both for their own soul and so that they may be good stewards of the Faith overall.

Did you mean soil when you said Rocky and thorny seeds? The interesting thing about the parable is the seed(s) are all the same. The parable is really about the various kinds and conditions of soil. There is some terrific symbolism as to what makes our soil stony (roots unable to grow) thorny (roots are growing but nurturing fruitless plants) or fruit bearing at the 30/60/100x levels Jesus mentioned. This corresponds to Christ's teaching that in His father's house are many mansions (ie kingdoms)
@newglof9558
@newglof9558 7 ай бұрын
@@HaleStorm49 yeah, I was using "rocky seeds" and "thorny seeds" as shorthand ways of "seeds that landed in rocky soil" and "seeds that landed among thorns". Interesting point about the seeds being the same - I hadn't considered that. Within this context, that stresses our similarities to celebrities and to all other humans (i.e. we share the human condition, including the fallenness). With this said, celebrities operate in an environment ("soil") that's generally rocky or thorny (I'd say moreso compared to anonymous persons), which is why prayers for them are so vital

Hi Trent…love your videos and have recently subscribed! That being said, I’d like to offer a small critique on this one. I think you should have more trust in faithful Catholics…We are not all starstruck by celebrities and put them on a pedestal. Instead, when a famous person converts to Catholicism it gives me hope that not all famous people are destroyed by that fame. I have a lot of respect for those in Hollywood especially who can swim against the cultural tide and have humility before God. I’m writing this 15 minutes in, and you haven’t mentioned some famous Catholics who are not converts, but open about their faith- Jim Caviezel comes to mind. Of course all famous people are sinners like the rest of us. The failings of my fellow humans-including famous ones- does not shake my faith. If it did, or if I came to belief because of a famous Catholic, I would possibly be the seed that fell on rocky or weedy ground. I pray all those in the Church let their roots dig deep into the rich soil of the truth of Christ’s teachings. One way to do this is listening to a learned apologist like you! 😎👍😇

Exactly right. I shudder to think of the nature of the backsliding some celebrity Christians fall into... Kanye West, Bruce Cockburn, Jennifer Knapp, Bob Dylan (I don't mean the transition back to non-gospel music, I mean recording a gay-wedding song, and his general reticence to be a public Christian) come to mind. Underneath the layers of hype, they're just people who are subject to very rare temptations, and a lot of them also have major personality problems. I'm glad I didn't have the chance to make a bunch of zealous promises in the media when I first started to believe, I embarrassed myself enough in front of my handful of friends and enemies. We have to pray for famous Christians, not parade them around at their most vulnerable point.

Hey Trent, I am well known in my own head. I became Catholic on 31 May 2009. Also, please stop saying "Catholic and Christian". Catholics ARE Christian, as you well know. I am mentioning this, because I do think that some fundamentalist Protestant will take this out of context, to "prove" Catholics aren't really Christian. Constructive criticism, instead say, "Catholic, or other Christian".

Yeah, Anne Rice, of Interview w/ a Vampire books and series, also made a big splash as a Catholic convert (I think it was revert). She did interviews and wrote a few Catholic themed books, and stopped writing dark supernatural books. She left the RCC as well, due to her two sons coming out as homosexual. Looks like she might be back soon, w/ the latest Vatican document on blessing same sex couples though.

If someone is a celebrity but not a leader I don't particularly care about their religious choices one way or another. If they don't lead a organization of some sort that creates or possesses a culture then their influence on others is likely to be a net negative regardless how genuine their conversion is. I had the great fortune of working in a publicly traded business for a regional VP who handled about 600 employees. He was a radical man of faith and ran his branch based on Christian ethics and it was amazing to be a part of it. It actually informed my reversion to Catholicism in a very dramatic way. Inversely seeing celebrities join and leave different denominations has no real impact on me unless I grant them as total strangers an unhealthy influence in my own life. The "Celebrity" in its modern form is not a great thing for society or the celebrities themselves.

@@Denis.Collins what? Oh no I didn’t know about that. Her interviews I’ve heard I got the impression she had a real spiritual conversion by encountering Christ in her battle with cancer and that she developed a deep devotion to Our Lady. We must pray that Our Lady intercedes so the bonds to yoga are broken for Tammy. However knowing Our Lady and by taking Tammy for her word that she is praying the rosary daily I am sure Our Lady is already doing work. We must remember that just because someone converts that doesn’t make them a Saint automatically nor that they have broken all bonds with their previous life - that is part of their spiritual growth

I think you’re misunderstanding Ayaans position. She’s not just saying that she believes in the utility of Christianity (although this is a factor for her). But she also believes (through reading dominion) that her values were always Christian in the first place. She’s recognising that she was living on the branch tree of Christianity but was cutting the trunk of that tree at the same time. Agree we shouldn’t idolise celebrity conversions though
