There's a noticeable and remarkable difference in them now and the day she was rescued. Then, they looked dull and hopeless. Now, they literally glow and do resemble pearls.

I remember when my dog got an ear infection but he didn’t act very different at all, he was still just as playful. My cat started laying down with him and sometimes tried to clean his ears. My cat isn’t the most affectionate cat so it was kinda strange that she was around him so much and we decided to look at his ears because she was paying so much attention to them. She really helped him out by drawing our attention to it and we were able to get him to the vet and everything.

Cats very much help each other clean hard to reach places. They’ll clean out each others ears, behind the ears. And much to his annoyance, they try to help my elderly cat groom now that he’s not keeping up with it. I always know he needs a bath when the younger cats start trying to clean his hind quarter lol

If KZfaq and your immediate family is your only socialization, of course that will take a toll on your mental health. No need to apologize or explain wanting to be a normal person with acquaintances and a reason to leave your somewhat stressful environment once in a while. Good for you for setting some boundaries.

Glad to hear Toby is doing better, my cat went through something similar last month and is close to fully recovered now. As for content ideas, something akin to "herping" or checking out parks and wildlife etc might be interesting. I know lots of folks are interested in New Zealand and its lovely native species, plus it would get you out of the house more :P

When I started working from home I got the exact same feelings with like being stuck in work mode all the time. Its really hard to create a work life balance when your work and life occupy the same space and there’s less of a separation. It rocked my world when I finally moved and had a spare room to turn into an office because now it’s just like. Turning it off when I leave that room and I can be in chilling at home mode instead of work mode lol

I absolutely can relate to the guilt of "not working" in your home workspace, I also don't have a separate office and work out of my living room. It's like you're supposed to be in work mode at all times and even when it is clearly not work time and you KNOW you've finished all you needed to do already, you still feel super guilty, like you are being lazy and doing something wrong by not working right now at this moment. It is very hard to explain, but I'm sure a lot of us working from home can relate to some degree.

As someone who works from home and whose office space is her bedroom, I understand entirely wanting to find ways to get out of that headspace. It is really difficult to separate work from home when work is in the space you’re supposed to unwind. I’ve unfortunately driven my room mate insane because I’ll spend the majority of my free time in the living room for that precise reason 😅 just know that what you’re feeling is valid, and you in general are valid ❤️ I hope your retail job is continues to help with your mental health.

My ferrets have had a couple infections throughout their lives. (One of my ferrets has a very bad habit of eating things he shouldn't) It's instantly noticeable how their behavior and appetite changes. For them, bacterial infections can be life threatening because of fluid loss, so I'm always very emotional when I have to bring them to the vet. Luckily they've always made a full recovery within a week, but I understand the stress and anxiety during that time.

A similar thing happened to my Chihuahua a few week’s ago. She would just randomly yelp when she was in my lap when I wasn’t even petting her , she was keeping to herself more than usual. I was feeling the same as you, I just knew something was up. The worst part was that this was happening in the middle of the night. I waited till morning to see if it would get better but it didn’t. I assumed she was constipated so we got her same pumpkin and a walk because it’s supposed to help with that . Soon after that she was feeling a lot better. It was extremely stressful though. I know how it feels. A video idea I had is that you go to your local pet store and give us a tour, I would love to see how they treat their betta fish.

I'm so happy it was something minor/easily treatable. Whenever your dog act strange or odd of a behaviour than you're used to, I'd advice to take them to the vet even if it's nothing, I made that mistake due to the behaviour/symptoms being the same as a past problem which was a blockage. I had so many red flags too and I'm still beating myself up for not listening to them, thinking that if I just waited a day he'd get better. My dog, he passed away a month ago, it was discovered he had cancer in March (his cancer symptoms looked like a bee sting or allergic reaction at his face) but went on medication and treatment to see if his life could be prolonged as there was no indication he was in any pain, still acting like the 2 year old mentality pup as usual vs his age of 9. It turned out he had a pancreas infection which originated from the cortisone medication's side effect, since he had cancer + infection, the body just couldn't manage to recover... Loosing a pet, which basically is your loving family member, sucks so much :'(

Me and my mom have 2 pugs (please don’t hate on me for having pugs, it was my moms choice of breed and I was 13) and we noticed the adopted one was much slower than usual. He usually walked pretty slowly but he started barely moving at all and since he was only 2-3 years old we decided to get him to a vet. I thought it could be something in his stomach but the vets told us a bunch of stuff that we had not heard from the ones we adopted him from. He had some sort of hip issue that is very common in pugs plus restrained breathing. Luckily he was not in pain and surgery wasn’t needed unless we notice he starts showing that he is in pain. I’m really sure no one would’ve noticed something was wrong but I’m glad me and my mom did. We knew he always moved slow, we even call him Eeyore but this was way too slow. He’s doing good now. He’s 6 years old, still slow but not in any pain.

I'm really glad to hear that Toby is doing better and that Petunia is doing so well! Also I am super happy for you and to hear that you are thriving in your new job and in a new environment! Sometimes we do just need a change of space and I completely understand what you were saying. Its hard to constantly be in the same space and interact only with the same people and have your rest space be also your work space. That definitely makes things difficult. I hope that you continue to enjoy working at your new job and that it only makes you feel more energized and inspired.

I had the same issue with my pomeranian and turns out it was an infection due to a bad tooth it the very back. I would always brush his teeth and give him bones to chew on but it is very common for small dogs to have teeth issues. Especially in the back where it's less reachable. I would highly recommend keeping an eye on that if you dont already! 😊❤

I feel you on the gut feeling thing. I have the same thing with my cat. You just know, even if others disagree or can't see it. Edit: I also wanted to point out that working from home is a little different for you since your channel is all about your pets...it means that way more of your home space is 'work space!' Remote working is super great for accessibility and also freedom, sure. But having boundaries is super important and breaks maybe even more so. I hope having the pt job makes it easier to do that, and it sounds like it is, so that's great.

Your pets are so lucky to have an owner like you, even if it was only a few days of your dog being sick, you were on it when it came to noticing unfamiliar behavior with him. I think you could totally make some videos of your birds just being birds! Playing around, perhaps videos of you training your birds or other pets, how to socialize (if you haven't) with your birds, etc! I think it could also be fun to have some reviews on certain pet products like dog foods you prefer with Toby, different brands of Axolotl foods, etc. It could keep your channel pet related and help you generate new content. :D

Don't feel like you are boxed in by your name " Soda Pets " if you wanna upload a video of paint drying go for it! It's your channel, you changed from my little pony stuff, you can change from pet stuff if it's gotten to draining. It can't be good mentally to view bad pet tiktoks all the time locked up in your room. Never feel guilty about going out in living. I agree with you 1000% on trusting your gut about your pets! When my sweet girl was a puppy, one morning I noticed she was just acting... Weird. A bit lethargic. I had a gut feeling it was something serious, so my partner took her into the vet and it ended up she had caught parvo. We couldn't afford for them to keep her at the vets for more than three days, so once she came home we took turns taking days off work to take care of her around the clock and we even learned how to administer IV fluids in case we couldn't keep her hydrated. It took a week before she started really getting better, but she survived. That was... 7 years ago now? And she is still thriving. I don't think she would have made it if we hadn't immediately gotten her into the vet for those first few days. We eventually realized they she likely caught parvo when she went in for her first round of shots, so that kind of sucked.

On the topic of insurance, I really wanted an insurance for my cat, who´s a rescue I got as a foster and adopted when I moved back to my home country. As she´s old (she was 19, when I got her, now she´s 21) and I was still in university I wanted to get an insurance. But I soon learned that the insurances in my area don´t insure cats older than 8 years. Well. The perks of getting a rescue...😅

Yup it's soo stressful if your pet needs to stay at the vet! Our late cat needed to stay once overnight too... I cried the whole way home and was extremely worried. We could visit him the next day and he was already so much better, heard him loudly meowing from afar 😂 and he just wanted to bolt out of the cage (being locked up was the thing he hated the most, he went berserk in cat carriers and we used leash and an open bag for that reason) that's when I knew he was going to be okay again ❤

My indoor cat got a random infection out of nowhere once. He was the same, not himself at all and when I touched him I could feel the heat of his tempeture just radiating off him, the poor biscuit. We brought him to the vet and they had to keep him for 2 days on fluids. They did bloods and xrays as well, but couldn't figure out the cause, just an infection he picked up somehow. Was so scary though.

For content ideas, I have to suggest 2 things that are related to your current content, they both need research but I think they are interesting. One is scientific presentation and analysis of the evolution history of animals, and domestication history of animals that are hold as pets. The other one is the opposite, and is presentation of animals in fiction, fictional animals, and how existing animals have influenced fiction in books, movies, anime/cartoons, games, or traditional cultures.

You definitely need to take care of your own mental or emotional health first, which you are doing. At this point Im happy to stay home and not interact but I think maybe you lose the ability to do that if you don't try. Little Petunia looks amazingly healthy! Was so happy to see. No, I took vacation and my dog swallowed a lot of seawater and got sick, but it didn't occur to me that's what happened. A vet suggested it and was right. Have had one dog go from heart failure which still makes me cry. Anyway have you ever thought about studying to be a vet? You'd be a natural.
