I'll at least say I have not recorded anything for the game, haha. Honestly I'm glad they didn't ask, I would be worried anything I do would be shoe'd in and feel awkward, like some other youtuber cameos have been in the past for other games.

I’m also going to buy this game. I don’t care about the negative backlash the trailer got. I’m a huge dragon age fan and I even enjoyed Dragon Age 2 and Inquisition.

@@samflood5631Inquisition is actually my favorite Dragon Age game. I love Dragon Age: Origins deeply, don't get me wrong. I played the absolute hell out of that game. But Inquisition will always have a special place in my heart. I know Veilguard will, too. I'm still furious at Bioware's higher ups for getting rid of their hardworking veterans but even those veterans had high praise for this game. I don't trust Bioware but I trust them.

The trailer that released today didn't exactly inspire confidence, but knowing they were roping fans and lore experts like Ghil Dirthalen in gives me that little glimmer of hope. This news allowed for a small sigh of relief. Thank you. 🙂

I don't get why BioWare is doing this. To have playtesting is one thing, but I'm guessing this is more to do with the writing/story? Regardless, that makes me feel like the designers of the game have so little confidence in their ability to provice a satisfying and suitable entry to the series that they need fans to point them in the right direction. Like, this is the fourth entry into the series, where they've already got over a decade of feedback and experience to work with.

Except you have no idea how many of the people working on this installment are the same people who started back with the first games that Bioware made going back to which ever game you personally think is "Bioware's best." Also let us remember that these are people trying to satisfy a 'parent company' that cares a whole lot about the 'market' which at least in part contains a bunch of people with nothing to do with their lives other than spend their time in youtube comment sections losing all faith in a game they haven't played based off a short trailer the watched earlier that day instead of going "I'll wait to see what more enthused fans have to say about it before I buy this thing I am under no obligation to buy or play or rent." and moving on with their day.

@@ConclusiveConfusion Yes, we're all gamers that sit on youtube and intentionally make ourselves disappointed about upcoming games even though what we want are good games to get excited about... yeah, that logic doesn't work. If people are upset, there's usually a reason. I don't blame fans for being skeptical, and BioWare has a lot to prove these days; they completely messed up the Mass Effect series with Andromeda (that game was a failure in almost every way), Anthem was a huge flop, and Inquisition was a pretty divisive game in the franchise as it was a big departure from the dark fantasy and quality we were used to from the series; and now after years of radio silence and a project reset, we're shown something that looks more akin to Fortnite than Dragon Age... I don't think the gamers' fears are invalid here. And no one's drawing any conclusions yet, we're just not seeing anything that makes us feel like we can trust this to be a good installment in the franchise. Plus, it sounds like you don't have much confidence in it either as you're already trying to justify any questionable design choices.

The trailers never looked like the games though, but personally I'm indifferent to it. I still haven't recollected my mind after losing it to a freaking Warden companion with a young griffon at his side

There was no dark grittiness. Dragon Age has always been a story where a tree says the line "Perhaps a poet's soul's in me. Does that make me a poet tree?" Veilguard is just less brown than usual, and people are so media-blind they can't tell the difference between "brown" and "gritty".

Partially explains why she was so negative on the leaks last year and refused to cover them. She had already seen them and couldn’t legally talk about that, but I always thought it was crazy that after years of radio silence so many creators refused to cover actual gameplay with so many small lore details. It’s because the creators weren’t actually on radio silence like the rest of us 😂

It is so frustrating seeing a comment section that thinks Origins is gritty and Veilguard is fortnite, as if the only thing that defines a genre is the colour palatte. Paying no attention to the updated darkspawn designs, the fricken griffon, Harding, Neve, Lucaris, the griffon...

@@LordSusaga Man, it doesn't take a lot to piece it together. The reason why people think that it's because graphics and tone create something people don't like/are tired of. We haven't seen gameplay yet, nor actual story beats with different tones but most people in the world are extremely emotionally driven, which is to say, they saw a trailer with cartoony graphics(Which by itself is not bad, case in point:Dishonored, Bioshock) with quippy humor, which to be fair, was always part of Dragon Age but nowadays Marvel's popularity combined with their excessive use of this style of humor has made people weary of it, therefore their minds are set on it being a Fortnite or Overwatch-esque wannabe. I don't agree with judging the game before we have even seen what it properly looks like in-game, for all we know that was just a marketing team blunder, but it's not unexpected that people would react that way to such a trailer.

@@Hysorn If people click on a Dragon Age trailer, they should expect to see Dragon Age. That's exactly what they got. People claimed this was a betrayal to the genre because it used to be dark (no it wasn't) and now it's just too quipy (there was, like, one joke, made by the character who tends to make jokes). You can make whatever judgements you like, but if you need to make shit up to do it, then why are you even talking?

I already guessed something like this was happening with your review of the Netflix show. The way you spoke was very similar to Lilsimsie from the Sims community, also owned by EA, that community has a Creator Network, that does official builds for packs. So- just being blunt, the main reason I dont sound like myself is because I recorded parts of that video while having just lost a pregnancy, so my heart just wasn't in it. I did actually think the show was ok, I had fun with it. I get if you think I'm just shilling for EA now, but I'm not going to say anything I don't think is true. We are not held by any contracts to say only positive things. You can see in my review of the Missing that I will be a hater when I think it deserves it.

If we're being existentially real about this, they Ugly-Sonic'd us. GD's video's are great at bringing in people who love deep-dive lore and meaning in-game narratives (I rebought Origins last week on steam after listening to ferrelden's nation history video)...but that trailer, come on, "magekiller!" ???? Folks who are reading this: Genuinely watch the Veilguard trailer, than Origins trailer.

To learn they had a Community Council is wonderful news! Such Fan and lore fanatic input in the game can only mean good things. I am even more hyped for it than ever now, and any concerns can be waylaid. You cannot really know a game until you've played it, and so to know they did this interjects they are taking the concerns and wishes of the fans seriously. It's more than I can say other companies have been doing.

Did anyone speak up about the Mobile-game looking art direction being a bit too much for the DA community? There are a LOT of comments on how it looks like a Diablo/Mobile RPG with a Fable-but-Netflix'd art style, was that a choice run past the community? Do you have any fears/concerns regarding how the game is going to be received? I know change can get a lot of pushback from gamers and fandoms, but I'm honestly curious how much feedback was given- and if it was heard- if the game looks the way it does and the comments are how they are right now.

as someone who has worked alongside a lot of bioware's employees over the last decade for various different projects and as a fan of Dragon Age since origins I can tell you now that most of what you are assuming is a bunch of bullshit. They had to scrap their ideas and stories twice and start over from the beginning. If any of you are seriously hoping that some of the same plot threads are still going to get the payoff that you think that it will; I'm telling you now you're wrong. Along the way a lot of the people that laid out the plans for the original story for how this game was supposed to go left the company and along with the most of the vision and focus that was needed to make sure that you this game would be the perfect conclusion to the Dragon Age series as it was supposed to be the last one. Now it is definitely going to be the last because from what I've heard from their own employees this game is going to most likely be either mid as hell or downright bad for most players. Because they are directly making decisions for the story and design of this game that they know a good chunk of their player base will not be happy with. Such as the Veilguard name change being mostly due to the tonal change of the story. This story was supposed to be one of the darkest and most important in Dragon Age history with choices that would forever leave the world changed. Such as whether or not to help the Qunari invade and conquer Antiva. Or leading a slave rebellion in the capital of Tevinter. Or the ultimate decision on if the veil should be torn down. All that got thrown away. So I do not have hope for this game. Most of the people I have worked with told me to hold out for this trailer and for the gameplay reveal. Now that I've seen the trailer it infuriates me. I held out hope is that one of the series I love the most would get a good finale. And now...... If that gameplay trailer is anything like this I know this game will be forever remembered for ruining the franchise completely.

Considering that I'm in game development and have worked alongside the people who made this game I wouldn't call it unsourced since a lot of my information about the game came from the people who made it and what specifically they got rid of. Although nobody really cares and I'm just stating my own gripes that I have. People can have their own opinions about stuff. You don't have to try and put down my opinion on what I feel about the game just because you don't agree.

I would love to know the opinion of a community council member on the new reveal trailer to see what kind of feedback you're (You personally and you the council) giving BioWare. These kind of councils made by companies tend to be echo chambers with people that have no negative opinions and always agree with the company. I've never seen any of your content before so I cannot say, I hope I'm wrong and you guys are giving good feedback to BioWare but the recent trailer is not reasuring on that front.

To be honest that does worry me a little bit on the authenticity of the content that you will be putting out, mainly your thoughts about the game, its direction and looks. Personally I value and enjoy hearing your opinions and feelings on past dragon age content, how much of that could potentially be more swayed from now on?. Regardless congrats again! This gives me some hope because holy shit. I didnt realise i assmebling the avengers or suicide squad with that trailer. It was completely tone different to the cinematic reveal trailers from DAI, DA2 & DAO. Hopefully the gameplay is good because that trailer massively missed the mark.

I am very concerned about DA:IV. It has modern looks, but the tone of the trailer has me very concerned. I will withhold further criticism until the gameplay trailer is out, but... I cannot hide my dissatisfaction with the direction of the tone and writing - if that cinematic is indicative of the rest. It might be a spectacle, but I was hoping for some BioWare Substance behind it as well. Time will tell.
