I’ve been meaning to do that! I have basically all of the stuff, chemical trays, enlarger, focuser, etc. I just need to buy the chemicals and build the space out. But it is very much on my “to do” list!

@@michaelmarshallphotography5515 developing negatives is nothing. . It’s about printing in the darkroom. Thats what it’s all about. Scanning seems lame when you compare it to making real prints in the dark

I totally agree. It is a very inspiring machine. I literally have to take it with me everywhere because I want to shoot with it. Where'd you get your M4? And what's the shooting experience like on the M8 and M240?

@@michaelmarshallphotography5515 I got the M4 off the Facebook Leica group for a nice deal. A little risky since no one knew if it had ever had a CLA and it does have a dent on the top plate but it was inexpensive enough to factor that in. Nevertheless I got lucky as it exposures are great and I tested the RF and focus is dead on. Film M's are a stable investment and using ones is a timeless experience. The practicalities of digital married to an M are worth it for a lot of shooters. But it's different. The M8 isnt worth $1500+ that people are asking for them but it is a wonderful object in it's own right and I would still love to have one as a walk around camera. I don't buy into the CCD hype but it is probably the sharpest sensor I have ever shot a manual lens on. The shutter sound is disturbing though. The M240 has a couple of faults, both I can live with (heavy/bulky, bad screen even by 2014 standards) but I love the output and handling. All the other improvements, LED lit frame lines, 24mp CMOS, make it a much finer camera. IMHO it's worth the used asking price of 2k-2500. I sold mine after a year of ownership and didn't lose a cent. Both cameras have unsophisticated TTL metering so don't expect to just shoot aperture priority without a care. It still requires thoughtful exposure like a film M and the highlights will blow out unlike a Nikon or Sony.

I have the one that holds 2 rolls of 35mm or 1 roll of 120. I have never developed LF myself and it's been a loooong time since I've shot 4x5. I completely understand that. I've never shot a digital Leica...how is it??? HP5 is literally top shelf in B&W film stocks. I do find I like FP4.....and of course.... my favorite 125px. (Bring it back Kodak!).

@@michaelmarshallphotography5515 It’s exquisite. I prefer it over the m3 due to the closer focusing rangefinder, but they feel so solid, substantial and dependable. Don’t get me wrong, the one you have is excellent, too.

How different is the Nikon F2 from the Nikon F with Photomic T view finder? I have the latter. Is there a big difference? Because I love the Nikon F!

Fantastic question… so when the 40mm is attached it sets the frame lines to 50mm. I find myself using the frame line adjustment to switch back and forth between 35mm and 50mm for composition purposes. I’m still trying to figure out the best practices to nail the composition though. And thank you so much for watching!

To answer you question, the developing tank I use is one by Kalt. I got it about 10 years ago, so I'm not sure how available they are. But it is by far my favorite developing tank!

I introduced a rule into my routine that I develop the same day as I finish the roll. Previously, I kept the film for a long time, sometimes 2 months. This is not good as it turned out.
