So many bad situations in these stories can be easily avoided by just being honest with your damn kids instead of assuming “because I say so” will magically make kids *less* likely to ignore odd requests, especially as they grow up.

@John Doe The author gave an explanation and a payoff. To go into detail about every little loophole would just bog down the story and turn into a huge exposition dump. Why would these people try to gain the system when the risk is high that whatever loophole they "found" doesn't even work. All they'd be doing is getting themselves in danger.
@JohnDoe-pc1qf
@JohnDoe-pc1qf Жыл бұрын
@@plantenthusiast3052 Maybe, but the ones I mentioned aren't part of "every little loophole". Glass doors, automatic doors and similar stuff is one thing but locking and staying far away from doors is like the first thing that comes to mind. The author doesn't even need to go into detail for this. A simple "We tried, did't work." would be enough.
@plantenthusiast3052
@plantenthusiast3052 Жыл бұрын
@John Doe I thought it was implied that "a lot of things were tried but didn't work" by simply indicating the amount of time that this has been going on. Hell, going to the different dimension was tried before as well. Also, it would be an insult to the audience's intelligence, and the premise as a whole, if a locked door was all it took to stop these things, so I figured that was implied as well.

If you have a curse in your bloodline, why wouldn't you just adopt instead? Problem solved. Also, does this also apply to cupboard doors? What about large drawers? Windows? Rotating doors? Automatic doors? Curtain-doors? Not enough was answered in this story!! It would be great as a longer one. (Still, I love interdimensional stories, soo much and it's always nice to see that Lighthouse has a new vid up.)

Why did she have to prove it by not knocking? She could of just told him. My nan believed in knocking not to this extent but we had to knock each door when we got home after leaving the house. It just made me scared that people could be behind the doors. It was more about the people that used to live there and my nan believed they lived there still. (Ghosts/spirit's) she never wanted to explain that to me until I was old enough not to be scared. Miss you Nan. ❤️ Thankyou for the great story by the way.

@@learninghowto101 of course not, I am not 'hating' the story whatsoever! I enjoyed if very much and this is one of my favourite narrators. The concept itself is really interesting, but the choices the author made are... certainly choices. Why in the world would their mother let herself be taken, which would mean a fate possibly worse than death for her, leave her children without a mother AND traumatize her granddaughter? It would literally only take talking about the forgotten until they start banging on the doors and her son would have no choice to believe her. Same with the uncle, different versions of the "there's no way we'd all fit!" is used all the time by writers who don't have a better idea but want a character dead.

Damn cognitohazards. How are we supposed to do anything about them if we're not even allowed to know they exist or talk about them?

The music in the intro is giving me flashbacks to that one story about a guy being haunted by this young boy (because of a family curse) who he sees every second of every day even when he blinks, and is not- under any circumstance- allowed to acknowledge his presence. Just that one part where this music starts playing. I don’t normally get phased by these stories but something about that one was just so creepy to me.

His mom is like 90% of movies. If they communicate, just a little bit could have solved every problem and end of the movie in the first scene

I liked this story. The one choice I didn’t like *spoiler* is that Derwin was about to leave his family behind, and stay in the realm,in order to off his mom. I don’t believe any rational parent would do that.
