Ever since the Dinas I have been searching for the ultimate plate amplifier. I think I might have finally come across it! Meet the Arylic Up2stream plate amplifier. This plate amplifier not only uses an infineon chip, but also utilizes DSP, bluetooth, multi-room streaming and even expansion boards for fiber optic and remote control. This can easily be transformed to work perfectly for your project. Which is why I think this has become my favorite plate amplifier.

This is actually super nice because I have lots of friends who are interested in my diy speakers, and they ask me to make them some, but they hate the idea of having to get a separate amp to go with them. So far I haven't found any plate amps that are intuitive enough for normal people to use. Normally they don't have any good corrections or limiters so I worry about my friends burning up the speakers. With this, I can make someone a simple pair of bookshelves, set the corrections, and not have to worry about them coming back with some blown speakers because they thought their small speakers could do the same thing as my dual 15-inch subs. For $170 you really can't find any integrated amp that has anywhere near the features this has. I'll definitely have to do some more research on this. Thanks for showing me that this exists!

I think I'm going to use mine in a new version of the Dinas. They will be passive speakers, so I can use any amplifier I want. But this would be perfect for them by the desk.

Could this be used with the dinas to use dsp crossover between the mid and sub, and forgo the top tweet?
@janus1977
@janus1977 2 жыл бұрын
I’ve used a 4 way dsp amp board for a set of 2 way active speakers, ie. 1 channel per driver. How do you use the dsp on this to control the crossover if both speakers are powered straight off the same channel?

thanks for the really great, informative overview. this board is quite impressive at its price point, no doubt - especially with the option cards - and arylic even goes so far as to publish schematics for some of the expansion boards if one is inclined to DIY them. if i were to take a dig at it, according to the manufacturer's website the final stage output DAC is fixed at a 16 bit word length and 44.1 kHz sample rate - it can _decode streams_ up to 24 bit @ 192k - which means that a good bit of material will have its dynamic range (bit depth) truncated and undergo sample rate conversion and downsampling to non-factor sample rates in order to reach 16/44.1k before being output to the amplifier. it also seems to lag recent(ish) trends in BT codec support, so _caveat emptor._ that said, we can debate all day under what conditions and with whose ears that might be audible - many people don't bellyache about the fidelity of Spotify's paid tier, and certainly not CDs - but it will turn some off. it looks like they do make a board capable of outputting 24/192 native, as well. always use your ears and judge for yourselves... the convenience may be worth it! be well.

I was thinking about building 4" full range speakers and didn't need a fancy amp. Just some way to get a 70Hz highpass. Now I'm thinking this could be perfect for it since it has DSP built in. A little pricey... but ehh. I love wasting money on speaker stuff anyway. BT/wireless is nice to have and sub out could be neat if that's DSPable. (If not that's a shame) I'll have to look at my box design and see if it'll fit on the back of one of them if I add a box on a box area.

@Toid 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I think that's another really good place that they would fit at. Especially if you're using higher-end full range drivers where you want to get the most out of them. But it's nice to be able to get rid of all of your physical components and then make any changes when you want with the DSP. That's one of the reasons I really like it hooked up to the computer with USB. Then you can make changes anytime

bit.ly/3hwyett it is $20 per computer. You can dsp as many boards as you like with that computer.

its certainly interesting but to be honest with that wattage its only really suitable for a little carry about boom box or a small soundbar. that said they really missed the mark by not having a lithium battery option/add on board. then here comes a problem in that diy low wattage portable boom box market. Parts express has that all tied up, look at the little mk boom for example, that little thing will bust out tunes in the back yard all day 12 hrs straight for the tiny price of $120 for everything (batteries amp speakers crossovers cabinet you just have to assemble and paint it), and its decent! it actually sounds really really good for its price and size plus you can dsp it! When it comes to retrofits there are very few pre-existing speakers i would want to put this in as it just lacks the power. Something efficient enough that can unleash the sq of that chip would be worth too much money to hack up and anything you would be prepared to hack-up needs more power. basically for a retrofit i want the same thing with 100-150watts 4-8ohm per channel with 200-300w 2-4ohm built in sub channel with dsp dac and Bluetooth and for not much more money than this then i will be excited.

fyi i have built a pass f5 and several other low wattage amps so i know what can and cant be done with low wattage ;-)

Yes. The Mkboom is a great little kit. In fact I built one. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/psuDipSK18jFoJ8.html having said that, the difference in wattage is almost identical. But I completely agree that they missed the mark I'm not being able to have batteries. On one hand I really like the fact that it has the built-in power supply, but on the other hand if they didn't have the built-in power supply, they could easily add a battery pack to power it. That would have definitely brought this over the top.

Said the word 'cost' twice in over 9 minutes, without actually telling us the cost. Nor did you tell us if the amp was provided to you for free, or if you bought it yourself. You failed to advise if this was a paid review or a personal opinion. You CERTAINLY didn't tell us the links to the product (and the only way we could find out the cost) is to click on your undisclosed affiliate links. You definitely know your stuff, and this looks like a great product, but youre missing a few things...

If it was a paid review I would have disclosed it. As far as cost, I used to put costs down, but it changes so frequently that I've stopped. As far as disclosing the affiliate links, they are disclosed you just have to read the full description.
