I walk around by the beach in Colombo and meet many Sri Lankans and they all were very welcoming to me as a foreigner in Sri Lanka. This happened on my first day in Colombo, Sri Lanka. I also try some Sri Lankan snack by the beach in front of Galle Face. Colombo is an amazing South Asian city.

Sri Lanka is economically lot more prosperous than the rest of South Asia and thats why it looks clean and modern. Despite the recession, the SL GDP per capita is more than twice that of India/Pakistan, Bangladesh, has a high Human development index with very high life expectancy, literacy rate etc

Bro, Sri lanka still lags behind the most developed states in India ie KERALA. Literacy is still below Kerala. Kerala's poverty is less than 1 percent while Sri Lanka is 14 percent. Kerala has more population (35 million ). I commented this because Sri Lankans are forgetting this.

Galle Fort, Mirissa, Yala Safari, Ella, Little Adamspeek, Nine Arch Bridge, and Then Ella to Nanuoya Train Travel best part of the train journey. and the world's best. Then Nanuoya to Little England (Nuwaraeliya) Loversleep waterfall, Hakgaa Botanical garden, Horten plains national park, and World End hike(4 hours up and down). Then Nanuoya to Kandy Train Travel. Explore the town and Kandy Palace. Then Sigiriya(lion rock) or Pidurangala, Then Anuradhapura Historical City, Then Minneriya National Park (Many Elephants there). Then Polonnaruwa (Another Historical city), Then Trincomalee Beach (Marble Beach, Uppuwel Beach, Hot water well). Then Jaffna another Culture and Fort.

Myer Rs.650 for the calamari wrap is reasonable. We locals gladly pay that, don't be so frugal, food in Sri Lanka can be more expensive than some other countries you been to. Also your conversion is off, Rs.650 is not USD3 its 2.

Agreed-if you eat in local restaurants and not junk food places like KFC etc or tourist restaurants,then prices are about the same as the equivilant in Thailand but of course generally salaries are higher in Thailand making food more expensive here for locals especially those with low paying jobs.

That's right, food in Lanka is expensive, food is not a detail, everything is expensive, the country's Janadi Pati is responsible for it. The salary in Lanka is very low, food and other things are very expensive for that salary, but Lanka is the most beautiful country I have ever seen. Love sri lankan 🖤🇱🇰

You did the right thing by leaving when you feel it’s expensive instead of bargaining. You might feel like things are expensive in SriLanka but remember Srilankan rupee is less than Indian or Pakistani rupee and it’s normal here to pay Rs 200 for a king coconut. Specially when you’re in rural areas, people don’t try to sell you things for higher prices. More often than not they tell you the usual rates in SriLanka.
