I was thinking the same thing. Maybe that snake is her spirit guide during this whole makeover. 😇🐍 It will be interesting if he hangs around her next build or a different critter pops up.

Honestly appreciate the real life version of a house diy. It overwhelms me when I watch the channels that have the flawless process with the beautiful reveal and pretend like it took them a day. I am like you and first purchased a house as a single female, realistically it can take me months to finish a project.

Once I saw a professional floor video explaining how to level the floor by the easiest way. He explained that all the tools that companies recommended to use in order to make the job easy just double the work. His technique is exactly throwing the cement or whatever to the floor and let the gravity makes all the work. I was struggling seeing you suffering and then you figured it out. Less is more! You did a really great job!

Someone once told me we don’t realise what we give to other - knowing you take a step back , regroup and keep going is why we watch your channel. It’s especially important for women to see other women doing something new, finding out it doesn’t work, then going back at it. You’ve inspired me to take baby steps to do my own upgrades, but also to step back and let it happen, and be ok with that.

Oh my! My grandfather owned a cement company for decades. So it ran in our family but you usually have those strings of chalk going down the ends and then smoothing it out with a 2 x 4 to level it and you do have to wet the cement so it doesn’t dry so quickly even for the first 24 hours so you don’t get big cracks.

I admire your perseverance! I had similar frustrations trying to refinish a hardwood floor for the first time. Your final room look is award worthy 💕

I could feel your frustration!!! that was a whole lot of work. Going by the bags of cement, you could have built a small house with that amount. Glad you got it done in the end. That is the problem with DIY and fixing cars, something always happens that delays the end result!!! I didn't realise this was your very first project as I have watched others, I can imagine with this being your first, it was difficult not to just throw in the towel. WELL DONE YOU!!! Posted 3/6/22 (continuing my binge watching). Self-leveling concrete - really means what it says. Oh my, Rachel. Well, as you've said many many times, you learn by your mistakes. I think it looks great, despite the trauma it took to get to the end point. I have to tell you, I love that you feed peanuts to what look to me like chipmunks (some people call them ground squirrels), here in SE Wisconsin where I live. The one you've "adopted" looks like an albino chipmunk, I haven't ever seen one like that around here -- they are a light tan-brown with lighter tan to white stripes/markings on their back, and they are the cutest and boldest of critters. They're hibernating here now because of the cold, but they'll be out soon and hungry. Once hibernation is done for the season, when I whistle, they come out because that's the signal I've thrown peanuts out on the patio.

Omaggaaaahhhhd!!! I fricking just love your style, your esk, your back breaking hard work 😓 thank you this made my day. Very inspiring. With my apartment, I’m trying not to be boring, instead of having everything white. I died my shower curtain fluorescent yellow. I also have a gigantic canvas that I’m going to be painting something…
