I have been knitting for 60 years and this is the best demonstration of heel flap knitting I have ever seen. I will no longer try to teach my Grands how to knit heels. Sending them to you. Thank you for another great video. I only wish the Red Heart Chic Wool yarns were still available.

I'm half way thru the heel flap! I can't believe I have made it this far! I was terrified of using dpn's and started and stopped this project more times than I care to admit. BUT, i tried again yesterday and I'm actually doing it! Yesssssss! Thanks for the very clear instructions and explanations. I'm loving this! 😁😍

Ok you’re an incredible teacher. I’ve never used DPN this long. I’m actually making socks. I’ve taken your advice and I’m doing the second one at the same time👍🏻. You’re very helpful when you explain each part and extremely thorough in letting me know why we’re doing each section. Excited to finish up the heel flap then do the second sock’s heel flap 👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻 🧦 Socks are becoming less scary 🤣🤣🤣🧶🧶🧶🧶TY🧡

I love this tutorial. I have not posted my socks because I have been a knitter for over 20 years and chose this year to learn sock making. Totally understanding the dpn use, I prefer magic loop. Because I am not conforming, I have not posited my socks. How I love them and excited to make more. I want to make 6 pair of socks for 2018. You have greatly increased that goal. Thank you.

I love the idea of having a second pair of #5 needles to do the second sock at the same time as the first. I already knitted a sock that is so comfortable and now need to do the second sock but because it was so comfortable I don't mind doing the whole sock but I will surely buy a second set of #5 dpn's. Great job. I love it.

I've started on my second pair of socks, the first was for a friend now I'm knitting one for me and my son asked for a pair. I'd really would love to be able to knit the poncho you're wearing in Part 3. My supervisor asked me to knit her a poncho, this one would be perfect.

Hello! I’m currently working on this project and I just wanted to say I love your videos!! You are amazing! Is there any chance you would be willing to make an instructional video on how to knit continental style? I’ve only been taught how to use the English style and it seems to be much more time consuming. I have tried to learn continental but I can’t figure out how to get my hands right and how to hold the yarn properly. Thank you!!

Your videos are AMAZING. You are a delight to watch. I love the style of heel, heel flap and gusset. I have a pattern for different size baby socks. The method is using wrap & turns. I honestly hate it and have ripped them apart dozens of times. My question is: could I replace W & T heels to this method???? And how would I go about doing it? (If it’s possible). Thank you Marly

Ok... I have a question Marly. I knit with very fine yarn/fingerling, needle 2.75mm/2us... I am doing the heel on one of my socks... I checked and over checked... everything is done exactly like it should BUT it don't do the alveoles of the eye of partridge... there is some ondulation but not more than that... the thickness is there though so... what is happening? Is it because my wool is to thin? Have any idea?
@amyahdocq8835
@amyahdocq8835 6 жыл бұрын
But, when I put it in front of the light, I see the little eyes... so why it is not doing the alveoles like yours? I saw too that several other knitters who put their work of your page have similar to me... you don't see the alveoles... why?

Marly the knitting -warehouse has chic sheep yarn @7.99 per skein of 186 yds.but yours is @ 9.99 not sure how many yards, but knitting -warehouse says 100% mercerized wool yours says 100% merino wool is this the same as the mercerized wool? Also Knitting-warehouse says they try to match dye lot but sometimes they can't please advise .
@kerigiddens4557
@kerigiddens4557 6 жыл бұрын
Its the same yarn. They are both RedHeart Chic sheep. In the listing I saw on knitting warehouse it said the fiber was 100% mercerized merino wool as does the listing on RedHeart's website. If you were to order 2 skeins of yarn and they were from different dye lots the color may not match exactly but since each skein will be used on a different sock it probably won't be noticeable.

Needle 4 and needle 1 are for the heel? I’m confused-why wouldn’t it be N1 and N2? Is there a logical reason I’m missing?
@MarlyBird
@MarlyBird Ай бұрын
The start of the round is at the middle of the heel. So when you knit in needle 1 it is the left side of the heel. You don’t get to the right side of the heel until needle 4. Hence 1 & 4 are the heel.

You said and on a right side row does that mean do not do the last purl row back? It states its a 24row pattern so if we count the first row as the one where we get the 24_stitches on one needk e as row 1 then the 4 pattern rows start but the last purl row is NOT done that end on the right side and is a 24 row section. So no last purl row back???

Yes writing on my tablet is difficult. row one purl. row 2 slip one knit one. row 3 purl. row 4 knit one slip one and repeat for 24 rows. looks like a regular heel pattern . but it is still a sock and I never thought I could make a sock and heel part was the easiest part to learn.

It sound like your slip stitches may be on top of each other. In the video she talks about making sure your slip stitches are over the prior row's knit stitches and vice versa. But like you said, it's still a sock, that's what I keep focusing on. Good Luck! :)
@ritadixon3107

Yes I think so, but the pattern says to start one row with a slip st. and the next with a knit st. but you cannot do that on an even number. so I figured the ss and the knit st. is the problem. Thank you for answering the question. I ready to start the gusset and heel now.
