Just an American trying to learn more about and Germany and the rest of Europe.
Today we're gonna check out My FIRST TIME at Germany's BIGGEST Concert Hall! The Elbphilharmonie was a structure that I'd always admire from afar while visiting Hamburg, BUT today we finally get to see what's actually inside this ABSOLUTE WONDER OF THE WORLD!

My friends and I had so much fun exploring and filming our adventure through the Elbphilharmonie! I just wish we had the opportunity to visit the opera house portion but of course it was closed off for big events (which makes sense). I might drop two more vlogs from the trip later on this week, so be prepared for that 😂! Also, what other things would you recommend doing in Hamburg? I have a video planned for when I come back where I review the Hotel INSIDE the Elbphilharmonie! Thought that would be pretty fun to film for you guys 😊!

Would you like an at least as impressive view over the roofs of Hamburg? Visit the Michel. That's one of the churches clocktowers you saw from Elbphi. You may take the elevator up there, but you'd miss the famous stairs... take the stairs at least one way.

Go to a St. Pauli match next time you are in Hamburg!. And the best view over the city you will get from St. Michaelis/Michel, the clock tower you mentioned in the video. It was Hamburgs No. 1 landmark before the Elbphilharmonie was built and i would argue it still is.

Worked in the lion king theatre for 15 years. Was a stage technician there. So if you want a glimpse of backstage area would not be a problem. Still have some contacts there. And still after 15 years it is a beautiful play. And the lion king in Hamburg is the most successful in the world. Also beating the broadway show. Fun fact, "Simba", the name of the little lion... Ok, there is the same word in Kisuaheli (an african language) and the meaning is... Little lion. 😂

For your Campertour a nice location to visit. [Lüneburg] Feel free to come to Lüneburg. Lüneburg is a small town near Hamburg and worth a day trip. Lüneburg has a beautiful, old Hanseatic city center with lovely houses, alleys, and an ancient Hanseatic harbor. You can park your motorhome on the Sülzwiesen, a park in the city center, and walk to the city center.

About living in the Elbphi: 2018 one of the flats was sold for 11 Million Euros, 39.000€ per m^2. In 2019 one of the flats was offered for rent: 12.000€ per Month. Hotel rooms start at about 250€ per Night...

And our previous major Ole Van Beust has an appartment there which he received under extremely fishy circumstances (surrounded by the smell of corruption). That same person is known for child abuse, it's been an open secret that he was having sex with that boy since years but he waited until the 18th birthday of that boy for making the relationship public. He got away with it, just as the later major and current chancellor Olaf Scholz got away with supporting some banksters to steal huge amounts of tax money (Cum Ex) and giving the now bankrupt Benko fraudster corporation the order to build the Elbtowers (now ending up as a building ruin) despite already being known as a fishy business at that time and despite the fact that it by far was not the best offer, Now the Elbtower building ruin is called "kurzer Olaf" (="short Olaf") by the citizens as construction work stopped way before reaching the full height of the building.

Hamburg, the city of my birth and one of the most beautiful cities in Germany (IMO Munich and Hamburg are tied for #1). The Elbphilarmonie is simply stunning. Fun fact, initially it was initially projected to cost 77 million Euros. It ended up costing about 866 million Euros. Which is more than half of what the Burj Khalifa cost and the Elbphilarmonie is only 110m high. IMO the #1 landmark of Hamburg is the harbor. By volume it's Europe's biggest harbor, it's Europe's third-busiest harbor (after Rotterdam and Antwerp) and the 15th-largest in the world. It's called the 'Gate(way) to the world'. A gate is also the emblem on the flag of Hamburg. Fun side fact: Bremen (which is another city-state) have a key on their flag, so the saying goes: Hamburg has the gate to the world but Bremen has the key to it. And you really have to take a ferry round-trip around the harbor area, it's so worth it. I'm glad you like Hamburg, great video as always.

The "clock tower" you saw is is called the Michel and it's kinda important to Hamburgs history. It's a really old tower. It was build in 1912 and got destroyed 3 times during its construction apparently. Iam not sure. The tower is part of a really old church and it's probably the only tower in Hamburg, that has been coted and build with copper plates. The first time it was destroyed, it was because of lighting striking it. Which is really ironic, because a good chunk of it is made of copper. You'd think they saw that coming lol.

I think the Reeperbahn and the dom are the most iconic parts of hamburg but the elbphilharmonie is up there too but not on the same lwvel like those two and also the elbe (with a fähre) or the alster and the harbour are all more iconic for me than the elbphilharnonie but as i said i also like the elbphilharmonie bc its a one of a kind from architecture to location or even the view to the elbe and city its really cool 💫

I'm commenting here not to be nitpicky but just because I know you always want to improve your German skills. "Tasche" in Apfeltasche means pocket, so it's the same concept as "Hot Pocket". Other words in this context would be Jackentasche (jacket pocket), or Hosentasche (pants pocket). Another usages would be Taschengeld literally pocket money or allowance. Einkaufstasche would be a shopping bag and a Handtasche would be a purse/handbag. So both literal translations are correct in the right context. BTW. your German pronunciations are getting better and better. For a lot of words you can barely hear an accent! Thanks for all the good vibes you bring to Germany! ♥

James, may I tell you about the most outstanding and somehow uncommon event ever that has taken place in the Elphi? I guess it was 2 or 3 months ago. A very famous German KZfaqr and Streamer named Staiy went there with all his own streaming equipment to play two indie computer games. The thing was: He played them with the sound muted! All the sounds and the background music for the two games were created by an orchestra and a foley artist. The original soundtrack from the games was used. The Elphi was sold out, and there are various videos about this event on YT. Since nobody knows exactly what the course of the game would be, the conductor had to watch the game closely on a monitor in order to adapt to what was happening. This meant that nothing could be rehearsed. That was completely new and extremely impressive! I watched that stream and ... it was mind blowing!

Hi, James! You guys have only been on the Plaza level. Didn't you know that you can book a 10 Euro tour to get into the large and the small concert hall? It's worth it, they explain all those acoustic details to you. After that, you can pre-book having 5 o'clock tea at the hotel lobby, and that's how you get to see the hotel part of the Elphi. Last week, I enrolled for a condo sales tour, that's how I got to see what get's you roughly 4 million Euros in Hamburg. View over the port included. Next time you're in Hamburg, book all those little things in advance in order to see more of the Elphi. Grüße aus Hamburg!

You really need to check out the 5 biggest cities from the Ruhrgebiet a lot of history and a lot of people out here its maybe not as many good looking Architecture out here but we also got that and we got old industrial plants turned into a family park( landschaftspark nord in duisburger) or even more cool shit in Dortmund Essen Duisburg Oberhausen Bochum are all big cities in the Ruhrgebiet so all really close next to each other and every city got its own charme and place to check out (also here are way more big cities you could check out Ruhrgebiet is like berlin but not as one city so similar population and area but splittet in many centers/cities) i think you would love the Ruhrgebiet if you would know which places to check out i could send you some btw like Centro Oberhausen, Landschaftspark nord.......... too many to write all in that comment but i hope you see this and maybe think about getting here its the most dense populated area in germany and also near cologne and düsseldorf but still its whole own vibe the Ruhrpott vibe (for excample duisburger got one of the biggest binnen harbors of the whole world(was the biggest for a long time and i at the rhine river) and waaaay more great stuff out here Dortmund Essen Duisburg Oberhausen Centro maybe Bochum or Mühlheim are all worth a visit and got so much stuff to see we are underrated as a vacation spot bc of the old industrial times but as i said its more like a post apocalyptic vibe out hete bc most of the industrial parts are getting taken over by nature and that looks fr post apocalyptix and cool af ( best exsample is the "Landschaftspark Duisburg Nord" in Duisburg ho check out some picture of it the Ruhrgebiet is really worth a detailed visit so you can see the best parzs at least of every city (like in berlin hete are also no ho areas like Duisburg marxloh or essen altendorf so really dangerous parts but just dont go there at nightime and you should be ok or just dont go there and stay at safer places like in berlin and hamburg too 💫💫💫

So we ( Hamburg ) dont have a dom because we arent Catholic, we are Protestant. We had a dom when we were Catholic ( a few hundrets years ago ) but when we got Protestant the dom got tored off. The place where the dom stand is named "Heiligen Geist Feld ( Holy ghost field ). A amusement park is held there, three times a year named "Dom". The clocktower you saw is named "Michel". In terms of capacity the Elbphilarmonie is not the biggest (classical) concert hall in Germany. Elbphilharmonie, Hamburg 2,100 seats Festspielhaus, Baden-Baden 2,500 seats That's esp. strange if one keeps in mind that Hamburg has 1.84 million inhabitants and Baden-Baden 55,000 inhabitants.
