Yellow ribbons have traditionally been used here in the US in support of troops currently serving overseas. It's also used to represent missing or KIA soldiers. The Jews wore a Star of David.

Yeah, Rage has never sold out their beliefs. They’re still out here fighting for workers rights, the marginalized, and against genocide. They are the most politically consistent band I’ve ever seen. Most people that accuse them of raging “for” the machine now never understood their message.

The element of sell-out to me was that they speak out against capitalism and mass-consumption of goods/information in many of their songs. However in 2020 they were set to perform at Coachella. Although they have performed at Coachella a few times previously, it was before it became so heavily commercialized the way it has been in recent years. In essence they would participate in the very system the vehemently speak against. Coachella was cancelled that year due to the pandemic but still seen to sell-out.

Tom morello literally campaigns for establishment puppets. These guys rage FOR the machine in 2024. What a terrible take guys. Rage fucking blows. Tom wouldn’t even play a concert if you were vaxxed. Fuck those guys

You are listening to the demo version my friend. It’s on the deluxe version of the album, but the final cut is waaay better production wise. Fun fact: when this album came out it was launched on a major label with the production quality being the best that had ever been put into an album at that time, which a lot of fans thought was double-sided from the band as they were supposed to be more «street/original» sounding, given their overall message.

I’m 51 and been listening to them since the beginning. You see the impact it has on you today. Imagine living that when the music came out! lol! Insane. Being a skateboarder and listening to this music in the 80’s and 90’s…harassment was a daily occurrence. Either from parents, schools, the public, or police. It was daily. But we all stood firm

For me, their first album was such a big part of my teenage and young adult years, bc I had the cd and it was always in my car, then when I started working out of a pickup with a tape deck, I found it on cassette randomly, and it continue to be an essential piece of the soundtrack of my life. But, no need to rank them imo.

You need to do a reaction to the live version of Testify from Finsbury Park (2010) for a few reasons…(1) the energy of the performance and crowd is off the chart!; (2) the way Tom Morello turns his guitar into a magic wand and plays it in mind-blowing ways; (3) lyrically and musically one of the best songs on their 3rd album. Self-titled is a perfect album. Evil Empire is great with some of their best tracks, but I prefer their third effort Battle of Los Angeles and think it's a better album front to back.
