I could definitely smell the scene with the Craftsman screwdrivers. When I started buying tools in the early 90's, those red and blue acetate screwdrivers were the most popular at the time. I still buy them at flea markets and yard sales. I've never busted one in over 30 years!

Those 3/4" drive large Proto sockets are for Chrysler screw in ball joints.

The Raybestos wrench is for loosening/tightening brake bleeder screws. The large Proto sockets (6549-L, 6550, 6551) are for larger ball joints. Your grandfather had good taste in tools, for sure. Looks like he also had some specialty one-off tools he made on the spot for certain applications he didn't have the necessary tool for.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane, I can't help with identifying anything because my father used the tools, I wasn't allowed to touch them. I am 83yrs old in the UK.

That RED 3 in circle deal with tiny holes is a cast metal Yard Sprinkler you attach to a hose. Save it. it can be used as a shower head.

I recently inherited my father's roll away tool box. He worked on the flight line at Boeing Field in Seattle. He was a crew chief and they maintained 747's. He started there in the 50's working on 707's. He was there for 45 years. He had some really nice stuff.

The long s shaped box end wrench is for loosening/adjusting the car’s distributor to change the engine timing. The first flashlight looking device is for checking the engine timing.

The screwdrivers have a clutch tip for clutch head fasteners. When you opened the Snap On catalog, you were on a page that listed clutch head drivers. The CP air tools are Chicago Pneumatic. (no relation to Harbor Freight) CP was established in 1901 - industrial quality tools. Any tools make by Kraeuter are top notch.

I had Chicago pneumatic air ratchets and die grinders I bought new in the 2000’s off the Cornwell truck. Great tools, not sure if they’re still around.

Some of those are things are potential sellers at high price or at least you know some are desired. I personally love the nostalgia of Craftsman screwdrivers and any acetate handles like the yellow ones. Anything in reasonable condition that Craftsman/SnapOn sold from 80-90’s because the current people buying them from missing out or nostalgia are at that age.

That light with what looked like a thick lens and a black cable out the bottom I believe has to do with engine timing of a particular cylinder. The ends look like one goes to the spark plug and the other to the rotor.

a lot of the unopened stuff your grandfather likely received as gifts and hadn't got round to needing them...the first light is a timing light..one end goes on the distributor cap and the other on the spark plug.

My grandfather loved to buy things on sale even if they weren’t something he needed so I wouldn’t be surprised if many of these were impulse buys 😂
