We get introduced to a bunch of heroes in this episode. But the two main kids we get to focus on are Katsuki and Izuku. I don't think the show ever really explains it but because Japan uses honorifics(Chan, San, Kun, Sama, Etc), Izuku combined Katsuki's name with Chan. Chan is typically used when the person speaking finds the other person endearing. Most commonly used between children, really close friends, or lovers. So even though Katsuki is a bit of a bully, Izuku actually considers him to be a really close friend. And he calls him Kacchan as a cute nickname.

“A bit”? He’s as much of a bully as a bully can get lol. Beating someone up, tearing them down, destroying their belongings… that’s the definition of a bully. And despite that Izuku still doesn’t hate him and uses nickname because of how much he looks up to Bakugo.

Watching anime as an adult is a whole different experience than it was as a teen and in college. In my 30s, everything hits so much harder because you see these characters as the children they are, not peers. Seeing Izuku being bullied just makes me want to jump through the screen and hug him. He's so adorable.

Super late here but I think this is an anime that you specifically would enjoy. Especially the characters; coming from Attack on Titan where no one was “good” and everyone and everything was in shades of grey this is a very different pace

Here we go! Funny how everyone complained about watching dubbed for other shows, but this show actually has pretty good dubs😅👍lol either way I'm sure you guys will love this one. Especially AllMight as he is the "Superman" symbol of this universe. Midoriya(Deku) is so kindhearted and emotional, but Bakugo(Kacchan) is a total bully and just the absolute worst. Hyped for this journey🙌

Oh, yeah, new show! Love you guys, you're a very sweet couple. I would definitely suggest the Dub, too! Lots of casual talking with people talking over each other or exposition during fights. Emily, the mom-feels are coming on strong already. I hope you have some tissues, nearby, because this one likes to tug at the heartstrings, especially in seasons 1 and 4, to really make you love all of the teenagers at Izuku Midorya's school.

Thank you for reacting to this! I generally prefer more dark stuff too but MHA is a really fun show. It does a good job with balancing the humor with the serious stuff. It took me a few episodes to get into it, but once it picks up it doesn't slow down. Sub and Dub are both amazing, so I'll follow along if you stick with sub or switch to dub like others have commented. Just a warning though, Izuku's voice in the first few episodes is a little whiny in the dub (it is here too but it's a bit more in the dub) so don't be surprised!

Fantastic reaction, if you manage to have a clean slot at some point, you _should_ watch *"ONE PUNCH MAN"* , a superhero parody anime. It may be a fantastic companion to MHA, it's incredibly funny and the first season (it has 2 season of 12 episodes each) is greatly animated !

actually love the dub! sub is amazing tho loved your demon slayer reactions and now MHA!! season 3 and 6 is my fav (season 6 is still airing)

@@KalElCanFly Dub for MHA is actually pretty good but I prefere Sub myself. Some Anime's actually have really good Dub But usually if you don't mind reading the subs the JP version is usually better imo. I will watch Dub when I'm not paying full attention to it otherwise I choose sub over dub. Some Animes it's very noticeable that the sub is far better than the dub still. For example SpyxFamily. Trying to watch that in Dub after the Sub was actually painful to listen to lol.

@@KalElCanFly sure the sub is basically always better. But the dub for MHA is very very good. Also, a lot of us watch YT reactions basically In the background as we go about our daily life's. Cooking, cleaning and stuff like that. Not really actively, constantly watching the screen or cell phone. With the Dub, we can listen to what part of the episode you are at. But with the sub, we are basically just listening to you guys react and half the time we don't really know what part you are reacting to.
