I love your videos Carla! The decluttering brought me but your kindness, positivity, and calming voice keeps me coming back! I also get pretty bad migraines but I went from 2-4 of them every week to have one every other months or so when I got my Daith pierced. It is a part of the ear that is supposed to have acupressure points to help with migraines. I had a friend that tried it and then a coworker did it and both had great results so I thought couldn't hurt to try for $25 (I don't do very well on the medications either). The right side stopped hurting and started the itchy healing phase within the first hour and I never had a problem with it after that, unfortunately the left side got infected - my own fault for playing with it so much - and I had to take it out. Even with just the right side still pierced it has worked wonders! Plus being able to wear cute/dainty jewelry is never bad.

I watch because it's realistic. Not everyone can afford an apartment that has just been built. Not everyone can afford to buy an older home let alone a new home. But it's our home while we are there and the clutter is the part we own and hold us back. It's the piece we can control.

I'm a childfree woman, I like your channel because it's for adults without kids. A lot of the home/declutter channels revolve around kids and families. There's nothing wrong with that but it doesn't apply to me. I also just really like seeing how people live/what homes look like in other parts of the country. I also love the charm of your apartment. I personally own a home that was built in the 80s so I'm sure someone would say the same about mine lol Hello from Orlando, FL. :)

100% this, I also like seeing real homes. Some KZfaqrs have real homes but they essentially look like they are cleaning a clean home which actually isn't that motivating. I also like your apartment too! I think it's neat and your bedroom feels like a treehouse with the big window.

I'm tired of seeing people my age live such lavish lifestyles as influencers. Tbh even if your home is "run down" I definitely like it better than something brand new. Here you have a 58 year old, conservative, married white guy with 3 adult kids from TX. I subscribe and enjoy your content because of your calm demeanor, you are always encouraging and you seem very approachable. I like that your videos are real life…houses get cluttered, life gets busy or we get lazy and it seems to me stuff multiplies 😅. I am working on myself and while my wife pulls the heavy weight of her career funding this nice lifestyle, I am positioning us for the next phase by decluttering, getting us healthier and getting us to what I hope will be a more simple retirement lifestyle (eventually). Now, I will say I do have a negative comment and it is your laundry situation….what you go thru to pull out your washer/dryer set would leave me needing a nap and no laundry would ver get done. Anyway, don’t worry about the naysayers, keep doing you!

I watch because I'm in my late 30s, single woman, no kids, trying to simplify and live minimally. I find your channel and content realistic and motivating. I'm trying to use what I have and have less debt. I also want to just love my home, now it being decluttered, I love coming home. I have a few things I want to pair down but over the last 1.5 years I'm living better and 65lbs down too!

Hey Carla! And everyone else... I'm in my early 30s, married, no kids (infertility), and I watch your channel for cleaning and decluttering motivation/body doubling. Also, I'm a fan of your personality. You seem like the type of person where if I were to meet you in person, you'd probably be the same as the person you present on the interwebs. Also, I'm a super big fan of making spaces beautiful without the "Pinterest perfection". It makes it feel achievable for myself. And I really like when you declutter other people's spaces.

I watch your channel because I find you very likeable and open - I'm a natural introvert so I admire how you can chat on the internet and open your life to complete strangers. Also, I'm about the same age as you, single, no kids (which I am perfectly happy with), and looking to buy/rent somewhere nice but everything is unaffordable (in the UK) despite me saving for literally decades... Similar , I’m a little younger and I like having someone similar to me to look up to during the times I question where I am, my age , my house and appearance .. everything. Many of us have to recreate and find ourselves after life events so it’s good to have positive role models that are living in ways that seem POSSIBLE vs fantasy lives many portray on social media. And of course Samson. None of this would be possible without his hard work. 🥰

I'm 45 without kids and can relate to you so much! Sometimes I feel like I am watching myself. I used to live in an apartment that reminds me a lot of yours. I love the character and charm your apartment has. For years I struggled with creating routines and keeping my house tidy but after a year of hard core decluttering I feel like things are improving for me. I'm a middle-aged divorced woman with no kids. I almost never comment on videos, but I find you so relatable I wanted to share. I'm a homeowner and also a freelancer, so I can relate to your journey and thoughts about potentially buying a house in the future. The mortgage process is not an easy one when you have your own business. People don't really understand the tax machinations involved in order to get a bank to even consider a loan. I think your apartment is really cute! When you do finally buy something, you're going to miss the freedom of not having to spend on major repairs. Your personality is what keeps bringing me back to your videos. I, too, have been on a decluttering journey. I'll never be a minimalist. There are plenty of channels with young moms, but not many with people like me. Keep on posting and ignore the rude comments. Some people have the "perfect" gene. Then there are the rest of us. :)

Yes, thank you so much for your comment! The part about getting a loan as a Solopreneur and the tax piece is so true. A few of my friends who are in freelance but coupled/double income bought homes over the last couple years but in other states and I see the amount of repairs and even minor renovations they’ve been doing and it’s a lot! Being a homeowner is a serious commitment. I idealized it for a long time. It still is a dream of mine, but I know I need to be in a really solid place financially. Anyway glad to be amongst the rest of us imperfect mere mortals lol

I am a 64 year old widow of 15 years now.... I live on my own with two cats 🐈 (tooo much fluff all the time 😂) I am extremely happy. I have been decluttering for the last 3 years and enjoyed every minute of it. Now everything is really easy to keep clean and ordered. I watch loads of cleaning videos but yours is kind of special because you are sooo up front and I am always interested in how you are getting along. I see a lot of me in you. A word of advice from an older lady....If you are comfortable and happy and feel safe in your home...stay there. You never know what complications can come with a new place. How about getting a stairlift for Samson?? xx keep the videos coming, I look forward to every one xx

I’m sorry to hear Samson is struggling on the stairs. I hope the shots bring him some relief. I am 55, married with two teenage children… and two cats, two dogs, two rats and a bearded dragon. I live in Toronto where homes are routinely upwards of a million so ours is small and old and in desperate need of a renovation but I like its personality. I came for the decluttering motivation and stayed for the vibe ❤. Your home is real and the projects you take on are realistic. I love your humour and warmth.

If I go to the outskirts maaaybe 750k which is still out of reach for me. I’m 28. My husband and I just moved into our first apartment together. Currently decluttering as we used to live in a duplex. We live in Kansas City metro and we currently do not have kids. I watch because I love how realistic and relatable your content is. The charm of your apartment is a reflection of my childhood home for 19 years. Ok. I do love your channel, and I raised my eyebrows in shock at that comment. I've lived in NYC, in not-new apartments, rented houses, and owned houses too. I recently sold my house in SC and moved to a nice, large apartment in Virginia Beach. It's got a lot of what I want, lakes, green spaces for walking, and no more yardwork! By the way, although I'm 73 years old, I am drawn to much younger people and I see life as new possibilities every day. I love your realistic videos, and that by no means is a detriment. I definitely feel you about feeling when the universe is giving a kick! When I avoid it, it turns into a kick AND a shove lol! I, too, love your apartment - it's quaint and cute with so much natural light! I wouldn't say it looks used, just old I guess, since it is. But old doesn't mean bad, y'know. Your apartment is suuuper cute. That window in your bedroom is enviable. Sounds like that comment came from someone who's never lived in an apartment in a bigger city. I'd much rather live in a place with character than a cookie cutter home that's perfect. Anyway... I'm a 40ish partnered person living in small mid-century ranch house in Portland, OR. We purchased our home during the pandemic, and I love watching to see your low key renos, decorating, and organizing to get inspiration for our own space. Also love seeing someone living a minimalish lifestyle that's REAL and not just a staged video from the one or two section of their homes that are bare white and perfect. Hi 👋🏽, I watch your channel precisely because you aren’t like most other cleaning declutter channels! I’m almost 36, indigenous/Mexican American, married for 15 years and raising 3 kids and 2 cats in the same apartment for 12 years in Austin (where the price of houses is nuts compared to wages haha). Nothing against those channels but it’s so hard to find this kind of content that’s about a woman of color, no pushy religious agenda or hyper consumerism. Your channel is so refreshing and chill. I have a tiny and old apartment that I have a hard time keeping up with and it requires a different approach than someone who owns or rents a large house.

We live in a really great location with land and wonderful neighbors, but the house…. Is falling apart and our landlord hardly wants to do repairs either. I’m 46, Canadian currently living in Warsaw Poland. My Hubby is military and works at the Embassy and is busy as heck due to the current sitch in Ukraine. We don’t have kids, but an amazing 6yr old American Bulldog pup named Piper. I love watching your uploads cause you come across as genuine and authentically yourself. I'm almost 30 and I'm so glad I found your channel. I don't have any kids but I live back home with my mom and my adult sister. I found your videos and fell in love because it was the first time I'd seen videos in this genre in a house that looked REAL. Most videos in this genre are big houses with granite counter tops or big white boxes that were basically already immaculate when the video started. It was so refreshing to see a home that looked lived in and real and not perfect looking. Your apartment has so much charm, almost as much as you do!

Hi Carla! I’m 60, widowed, no children, live in mid-Illinois, and I’m very fortunate to own my home. There are definitely pluses and minuses to home ownership but I prefer it to apartment living. I enjoy watching your videos because you approach everything in a realistic way. Your apartment is beautiful and I especially love your vintage stove! My home is over 100 years old and when I purchased it 9 years ago it hadn’t been touched in decades!! And when I say touched I mean nothing was updated or CLEANED!!😬 Now she shines as the Gem she is!

All of my favorite places I have lived in were old, including my current place. In Chicago I rented the first floor of a house that was 100 yrs old. Your apt is so cozy and you have done an amazing job taking care of it. Home 🏠 prices are frightening. Don’t let any negativity bother you much, you are such a positive and uplifting person and you have quite a following because of that! Because of you, I love my home more!

Really want to downsize to a one-level home and am trying to convince my honey that we need to. I have lived in many styles of houses, apartments, condos and actually have had 3 new homes built in my life and realize that no place is perfect. I get the urge to move about every 7-8 years. I love your channel because of your warm personality and that you are “real” about how people actually live in their homes and all the clutter we accumulate. I'm a 39 year old child-free lady with a cute pet snake named Charlie Chaplin. I used to live in a 357 sqft studio in Seattle Center that was built in 1940's for 4 years, it was a noisy neighborhood but I still loved my old apartment (it was not updated $1260/mo). For the past couple of years I've lived in Edmonds, WA in my nice condo that I still haven't done anything to. I enjoy watching your channel because there aren't many channels like yours where it's just normal childless folks that are being organized, tidy, and have great style/taste. I do also love watching Midwest Magic Cleaning because he talks about depression and mental illness and helps clean houses of those who suffer from those problems. Samson is amazing, I hope his medication helps him feel better. I wish you all the best in your goals Carla, you seem like a chill person.

I love seeing people making their current spaces work for them. Huge makeovers are great, but not realistic for most of us. Thanks for the inspiration you provide for us.

Yes, your hair looks fabulous. I love the couch you got. I'm 44, soon 45 from Germany, no kids (don't want any). I live in a little appartement with my husband and two cats. I watch your channel because one you show realistic things and struggles everybody can relate to. I'm struggeling with organizing, so it is always nice to get a some inspirations. Your place looks used? Yes, so what? So does everybody else's when you live in it for a view years. But it is obious that you take good care of everything. In Germany the landlord has to do renovations whenever necessary. Isn't that the case in the US? But one thing is completely different here compaired to the US: here most places don't have a kitchen or washing machine or dryer. If you want those things you need to buy them by yourself and you take them with you when you move.

Almost 40, single woman with an older dog living in Virginia. I live in a 1930s apartment building, which I love for it's light and charm. it does not have washer/dryer hook-ups. Desperately long for a washer/dryer and have considered your set up several times but haven't figured out a storage solution for them yet. You've done an amazing job decorating and organizing your home. I love the charm of your kitchen tile and stove. Why would someone want a home that doesn't look used? I'm most cozy when I'm sunk into the couch with a stack of books, using my space. I enjoy all your videos and how thoughtful and uplifting you are with the people you help declutter. Some of the most useful content has been your packing for trips because, my gosh, you have that down to a level I didn't even know I could aspire to.

Hi Carla, 67 year old retiree living in Utah for the last year. I lived in So Cal when I was 21 and then moved to Alaska for 47 years. Hated the cold/dark. Stayed. Why... well meet the love of my life! Went from a 3500 sq ft home to a 1460sq ft home (in Alaska) to now... my husband (a builder) is renovating a 470sq ft unattached garage at our kids. Everything is not perfect or cookie cutter. When you are done it is much better each time. I watch April too and came to this channel because of her. Carla, since you said your apt. is under rent control then I’m sure you understand why management won’t remodel/update/barely do repairs. At least I’ll assume that’s why as they won’t make extra money off of their renters. That’s a crummy way to treat people imo. I love your apartment, especially the stove. Hi, I am 38, married, no children, also have a dog, live in Copenhagen. I found your channel a couple weeks ago and have been watching every video since. The first was about getting up and tidy when you feel depressed and it was the best video I have ever seen, so honest and uplifting. Thank you. I have been living in different cities all over Europe, the apartments, sometimes furnished, sometimes not, some where new and others old. I loved every single one for what it was, but the current one got the first declutter treatment. It is amazing how much stuff we managed to move around and added, even as expats.

What I like about your channel is the inspiration it gives to work with what one has and make the place look charming. A lot of ppl do not have a modern or new space as we see in most videos, and yours is very relatable to many that are renting and cannot make the upgrades most people are able to get done. So thank you for being an inspiration, for sharing, loving and making beautiful what you do have at hand :)

My lifestyle isn't that similar to yours - I'm a single mother of a teenage boy in the South and I work outside the home - but I love your content. Your decluttering projects are so motivating and I love seeing another Black woman living her best life in another part of the country! I live in a vintage apartment that had some renovations and updates but is not perfect. Cracked ceilings and walls and original creaky hardwood floors. I watch because your home is nice and bright with good bones and you make the most of the space regardless of the flaws. Seeing a realistic and minimalist home is more relatable to me and is inspiring. Your kitchen updates are really cool. Keep doing you.
