I review one of the cheapest hydraulic RC excavators currently available. It's a 20kg unit, not small!
And of course, "one of the cheapest" doesn't mean cheap. These things cost some serious coin, even the relatively budget ones. Are they worth it?
(Oh also, it's our 2nd birthday on KZfaq! Hooray!)
Let's dig!

@RCTNT it's been a while. How are ya? I've been busy and small fleet of rcs but I've built a couple diy ones that are worth a fortune . I got a new 3d printer and I'm doing a 10 scale purple and chrome chev blazer. It's going to be a true scale trail rig and a hauler. I have a friend who owns the Nathan builds robots channel and he told me about a cheap awesome elegoo neptune 4 printer a while back and it's truly plug and play super fast printing

Hey man, that's awesome. Going good thanks. I just grabbed a Bambu printer last week after taking 18 months off from my Enders. Too much messing around. I've just scratch designed a chassis for the UTB18 yesterday. Been iterating today, it's fun to be back on this stuff. Enjoy your new printer! It's so nice when they just work eh!

I could lose HOURS, if i had one of these!! There's something very calming about this video!! It takes me right back to my childhood, sitting in the dirt on the cliffs in Folkstone, in Kent, playing with my cars, and a digger just like this (minus the hydraulics and radio control!!), loading dirt intonthe back of a tipper, and miving a few feet along the path. Happy days, and this cheered me right up. Thank you. 🤗

Congratulations on two years. It seems like only last week we were at the one year milestone. How the weeks do slip by when you're sharing incredible content. I feel both fortunate and honoured to have discovered your channel fairly early on, though it took a few months (the RC4WD TF2/TF3 video and suspension discussion) to drop my first comment. You started out strong and have only gotten better with time. From the first video I saw, your channel climbed to the top of my favourites list, and it's still there today. I can't imagine anything knocking off your crown. Even after two years of successful creation and building the channel and the audience, it still feels personal, friendly, casual and cozy. This is as real as it gets, as real as it needs to be. I've said it before, I'll say it again, your delivery is spot on, every time. And my wee lad still climbs up on my lap, points at the screen, and demands to play one of your videos. Very insistently. You're a favourite in this household, for sure. Once again, heartfelt congratulations on your achievements. Both in the success of the channel in general, and in the benefits it has brought you away from the channel. Thank you for all the joy you have brought my family and all of your viewing audience. Here's to another year of increasing success. And more years after that.

What a beautiful mile stone Craig. It’s hard for me to make time to watch videos. I am out in the shop rebuilding shocks watching this video!!! There is something oddly satisfying watching an RC excavator. Dig a hole. I spent many of summers with my Tonka trucks building roads up on mountain/dirt hill. I was nine. Lol. In that same fascination is still with me and I’m almost 60. I love you channel, you always have great content !!!! I’m pretty sure I’ve been here with you for a couple years ? I have the Element Sendero HD thanks to your series on it. Very little left stock by now lol. It sports an am32 esc + holmes revolver, NSDRC steering servo, NW Scaler Designs chassis rails, metal sliders/bumpers, and servo winch. Still rocking the stealth transmission, Element shocks and axles, and the original body. Never did point out the rig but gave myself a little more padding for mediocre driving 😂. Fun fact: construction sites are now equipping them with gps locators so the guys running the excavators etc can precisely dig exactly (to the cm) where they're supposed to dig. Now I've never seen it, but supposedly for buildings like condos, they can use the same system to place all interior walls, holes for services etc as well. I know farmers have been using a similar system for tending plowing and seeding their fields but it's getting into construction as well.

It's hardly budget because if not for bulk commodity prices just the linear actuators would put you a hundred a piece. It's awesome. I loved the brown cab over big rig. You don't see them anymore. They were a safety hazard but I miss seeing them. My step dad owned a small trucking company when I was a kid and he had one for a while but the insurance rates turned them into scrapyard haulers and they still make a couole specialized ones for automobile freight hauling

I only have experience with the 1580 and this one. What I've learned is that the 1580 wasn't strong enough for more than light duty, so I upgraded it. Hydraulic is well better. Therefore, I wouldn't stress the budget choices too much. They're all relatively weak, so sand and loose, small gravel is your target with those. Shop by what looks fun and expect it to be weak, then there's no disappointment!
