The objects we use and touch on a daily basis deserve our greater consideration. Here's what I would pick for my ideal minimalist everyday carry in 2023, in a timeless brown and black color palette. As a "normal" person in a safe city, my daily life does not require knives, flashlights, or even pens. This is a minimal city EDC; a glimpse of what's in my pockets, with a mix of leather, metal, and a some practical, technical fabric thrown in.

Great video. I like watches and both of these are on my shortlist for future purchases. I am also going to look into clip on sunglasses - life is good when I wear my contact lenses but when I’m in my regular glasses and it becomes sunny, this looks like a perfect solution.

That's a great EDC. I have a Secrid wallet, but have a Bellroy card sleeve on offer. I have the key cover plus, also from Bellroy. I really like your phone sleeve, so I think I'll might order one. On my wrist is a Panerai 292, which I've had for almost 13 years now.

@@ThoughtworthyCo I have one question about the phone sleeve. Isn't it too big in your pocket? I have an iPhone 12 now and it would add about 2 centimeters in width and 2,5 centimeters in length, compared to a case specifically made for the phone.
@ThoughtworthyCo
@ThoughtworthyCo 8 ай бұрын
Yes it definitely adds bulk, that's an unfortunate con of a phone sleeve. Since my phone is the only thing in my right pocket, it's not a big deal for me, but it can be a problem for those who wear tighter jeans or have smaller pockets. Their regular sleeve without the pull tab has quite a slim profile, and that's what I would go for if I was using an iPhone. My phone is just a bit taller than an iPhone, so I decided to play it safe and get the slightly larger sleeve with pull tab instead.

I’m baffled still that people carry these wallet, cash and coin still in these edc videos. it’s been like a decade almost for contactless and I’ve never carried cash or cards since. I don’t even know my pins like that

@@ThoughtworthyCo How does it not promote consumerism when you reach out to brands to make a edc video for. Every brand claim to be green and sustainable, it will be shipped across the world with a cargo plane anyway. I don't need extra sleeves for my phone and wallet, I have pockets, and have a watch in my phone. That said, there's nothing wrong with promoting your own lifestyle, I was totally inspired by your floor desks. I cut the same ikea table down to 32 cm to fit my legs, detached legs off a chair for comfort since we don't have Muji in my part of the world, and I love this way of working at home.
@ThoughtworthyCo

Let’s be clear what we’re talking about. What I inferred from your original, very succinct comment is that our video came across to you like an advertisement for the purpose of commercial gain. You questioned our integrity, presumably because of our positive opinions about the products. I then directed you to an article with a transparent explanation of our curation process. In short, these are my *ideal* selections. It’s only natural for me to have good things to say, since I’m not going to pick things that are terrible. You have since pivoted from your original point, and what I gather is you now have other complaints. “I don't need extra sleeves for my phone and wallet....” You may not need phone cases or wallets or watches, but that doesn’t mean others shouldn’t use them too. “Needs” are subjective. Someone who lost a kidney and is living well wouldn't go around asking you why you need two kidneys. It’s, thankfully, completely irrelevant. “How does it not promote consumerism when you reach out to brands...” Most of our thought process has been explained in the article I linked to. I would prefer to not repeat everything that was said, but here’s a quick summary: Very simply, by reaching out to brands that we think are “better”, our intention is to inform viewers to consume better, not consume more. Content is simply information, being more informed in itself isn't a bad thing. “Every brand claim to be green and sustainable…” Because every brand claims to be “good”, does that mean there are no brands doing better than others? Is there no need to know the difference between purchasing from an inferior, dishonest company and purchasing from a superior one that’s more honest? Content is one major way to assist us in distinguishing the difference. Not sure what your point is, exactly. “That said, there's nothing wrong with promoting your own lifestyle…” If we extend your previous arguments, we can also argue that by promoting our lifestyle, it has resulted in the undesirable outcome of more consumption. You were influenced to purchase the same IKEA tables; you had to replace your old working desks, and you chopped off good material to achieve the desired effect. This would not have occurred if we didn’t create such content. So maybe there is something wrong with promoting our lifestyle after all? The ethical dilemma will be endless. I respect your opinion, but there isn't complete consistency in its logic. In closing: You may have different principles, but for us, we don’t judge how others live or how much they consume. My lifestyle is not superior to anyone else’s. In the end, we create content with as clear a conscience as we can (as flawed humans), but viewers can still misinterpret them if they choose to. P.S. Fully appreciate your support by watching and commenting on our videos. I harbor no ill will towards your comments, and I hope my responses don’t come across as hostile. That’s just the unfortunate nature of a serious discussion.

@@ThoughtworthyCo So let's go back to my succinct comment. Thumbnail where you pose with product, in depth review of each product with modelling and closeups, affiliate links, medium article justifying it and to drive more hits.. yeah it's a nice commercial. You want people to click on your kit and buy stuff. Unfortunately for me the whole video was an ad, not just a skippable segment most channels these days have.

I see. Sounds like you just described a very normal content creation process. Healthy skepticism is great, cynicism can be toxic. Like I said, viewers are free to interpret it however they please, so it's completely your choice if you prefer to be this cynical. Cheers.
