Want to speed up your ACL recovery? Check out our newest course: bit.ly/aclsecrets
I wanted to share my experience with returning to sports after ACL surgery and what my journey has been like since my ACL surgery in 2020.
I also wanted to share my ACL journey update 1.5 years after getting ACL surgery, and how I've been able to come back stronger and finally return to sports again - and of course play my favorite sport - VOLLEYBALL!!!
I personally know how mentally tough going through ACL surgery can be, and even more so when you are an athlete who just wants to get back to playing the sport you love and just return to sports in general.
So I hope my video gives you some hope that it is possible to get there, and return to your sport after ACL surgery even stronger than before.
In this video, I also share some of the complications of ACL surgery that I experienced along the way, and how I've worked through each of those to get to where I am today.

Great video Victoria. Glad you’re putting out more content about your ACL journey. You’re covering nuances that I haven’t seen in other videos. Wish I had this content back in 2002 when I had my first bone patella autograft. But now heading into my second surgery (other knee- allograft this time) I can say that I’m going in with eyes wide open thanks in part to your videos. Cheers.

Thank you for sharing your journey. I too have some knee issues that I'm fighting through, and also was very troubled by hoffa's fat pad impingement so badly that I couldn't walk much. However I couldn't find much information on this as it's somewhat "rare", so it felt very alone in my recovery. If it's not too much trouble, could you put some more keywords into your title or tags explaining knee cap shattering, hoffa's fat pad impingement etc, so that more people who're suffering from the same issues can find your video and gain encouragement :))))) thank u!

I got cleared to go back to sport after 5 1/2 months post op yesterday. I only tore my acl and used a quad graft. So if you actually put the work in and do rehab always 3-5 times a week for the first 4 months straight you, you are able to clear all tests and have ur comeback around the 6months mark

My daughter is a hs junior. She’s at 5 months. They used a hamstring graft. She’s been working her rear off. She said she feels great and is wanting to join in on softball workouts really bad! She’s committed to play college softball already. She sees the orthopedic soon and we are hoping he at least clears her to start batting practice. I’m very nervous about re-injury and just don’t want her doing anything too soon. Her pt says he feels confident that she’s strong.

Thanks for the info! Glad to see you are going back to the sports!! It’s been 2 weeks of my ACL reconstruction and Meniscus repair surgery. Doc recommended 5 more weeks of non weight bearing on the right knee and currently I am having the stiffness with the knee flexion. Started rehab with PT, did 1 session so far and getting lot of pain during night time and it’s disturbing my sleep. Not sure how long it will take to get rid of the pain and stiffness.

This was just the video I needed thank you for recommending it. I had my surgery January 18th, 2020. It’s just not getting easier to bend to 90 degrees but I’m not allowed to go any further do to my meniscus. I would say it’s going great to the point where I haven’t felt much of any pain post surgery and haven’t even needed to take the pain medicine that they prescribe since two days post surgery which scares me because I feel like all the pain is going to randomly hit me later. Does that happen or is the beginning normally the worse pain?

Great recovery! I had my ACL surgery two weeks ago. I had an appointment yesterday with my doctor and he told me that it was 20% chance of me re-tearing my ACL if I return to sport(soccer) I’m really scared it would happen to me again. What do you think about that?
@VictoriaDorsano
@VictoriaDorsano Жыл бұрын
It’s definitely a possibility to retear again if you go back to playing your sport, but you can always get a sport ACL brace (it’s smaller than the full size brace) to help protect it too! If you wait at least 12 months post-op, the chances decrease significantly. I’d also recommend finding an ACL bridge program after you finish PT to prep your knee for soccer specific movements!

is there fat pads on both the inside and outside of the knee? I'm having pinching pain on the inside my knee walking and going up stairs and it's about 1 inch above my joint line and on the inside above my meniscus but just below my quad. my PT and surgeon said there's nothing there ligament wise and muscle wise
@VictoriaDorsano
@VictoriaDorsano 2 жыл бұрын
The fat pad can get impinged on either side, so it sounds like it could definitely be that, but the pain would usually be on the joint line because that’s where the pressure would “pinch” the fat bad (between the femur and tibia). How many weeks/months are you out of surgery?

Hi, that was a nice story. Now here is mine, On 14 june 2020 I tore down my left knee ACl while playing volleyball because of the knee twist while landing . Then I underwent ACLR on October 26 2020. Then I followed all the rehab process with so much of physio session. Its normal according to the doctor but still i have that fear in my mind whether I will tore again or not. I started playing few motnhs back , suddenly there was little pinch pain on my right knee last month. I started taking rest because of the previous ACLR history. But then after one month situation got worse then I opted for the MRI scans which revealed that there is partial thickness tear in my right knee. Doctor advised to get it repaired whenever possible . So , i underwent another surgery which is ACL repair on my right knee on 29th Jan 2022. Any suggestions or advice will be welcomed!
