I was so impressed by the quality of all of the food I had in Japan when I last visited. I think they really pride themselves on perfecting each component of a dish. I really appreciate that they seem to be so detail and service-minded oriented. Even the sushi that I got from 7/11 was gourmet quality compared to the sushi chains and most Japanese restaurants (except for the really high-end ones) here in Australia! Truly a foodie's dream and so fun to hear your observations ☺.

Do you know and remember what Japan did to China in WW2? They invaded Manchuria in 1931 and later invaded the rest of China in 1937 to start WW2 and then raped and killed 300,000 Chinese people in Nanjing. The Japanese government and some Japanese are still hostile to China today. As a Chinese person you should know history and what Japan did to China without showing remorse to this day, you should remember this when you judge Japan. But I guess they don’t teach Chinese history or it’s WW2 invasion by Japan in Australia. My view of Japan is affected by this and Japan’s aggression to China.

I was so close to visiting South Korea and Japan at one point. I'm a Motion Capture performer and in late 2015 I was in contact with Capcom about the facial likeness role of Leon for the Resident Evil 2 Remake. I failed to mention I also have a voice acting background, in the end I lost the part and I can't forgive myself for wasting such an opportunity. That would've been a real dream come true to work in Japan and visit South Korea.

Thanks for all the information. So, cash is king in Japan. That's good to know for when I finally travel there. I also saw a lot of queues for restaurants. But you still managed to find great places to eat. You looked beautiful in the Kimoto. I heard Japanese people love seeing foreigners wear kimonos. It seems so since nobody had made a big deal about it. Thanks for sharing your experiences. Have a great day.

The sanitary conditions in public places can be understood by walking down any alley in Japan. By tapping the destination from the current value in the application, the railway will suggest options according to the shortest time, minimum fare, and time zone.Even if it is complicated, as long as you have a mobile IC and a transfer application, you can easily go anywhere.

The food looks amazing! When I travelled to korea, I tried a box of fresh strawberries at a grocery store in the Hyundai shopping centre with my friends. It was the sweetest and most delicious strawberry I have ever tasted in my life! I live in Sydney Aus, the strawberries here are mostly sour and rarely sweet. Also, I like how you guys package fruit with so much care. I really want to go to Japan and come back to Korea one day. I was only there for 9 days. I miss the food sm. Street food, cafes, restaurants and convenience stores are so awesome.

You should go and visit a well established strawberry producer. You would be impressed on, not only, their dedication but why their strawberries are next level. Look for amaou white and red (Japanese) variety; it is considered to be the "king of strawberries". They often offer self picking for a specific duration, as you can eat and pick at the same time😂😂😂😂

Isn't Samsung Pay an option in a lot of transit and locations in Korea? I figured most use it instead of Apple Pay, but am curious what the split is among users and vendors.
@archie4oz
@archie4oz 5 ай бұрын
Technically she's not so much using Apple Pay as Mobile PASMO. Apple Wallet hosts the PASMO card and you can load value onto it from your designated Apple Pay card (credit or debit). The issue she mentioned running into in Korea, was that Apple Pay (and I presume Samsung Pay) only work with Korean (bank) issued cards. So inbound visitors can't use it. We had the same problem in Japan early on because Apple Pay originally only supported NFC-A EMV, but NFC-F FeliCa was the de-facto standard in Japan. When Apple launched Apple Pay in Japan only Japanese NFC-F cards worked (many Japanese cards are dual-mode EMV/FeliCa, but foreign issue are usually just EMV), so most payment terminals weren't compatible with foreign issue credit cards. Of course this was ameliorated by transit IC cards (e.g. Suica) being able to charged and supported all over quite a bit. Nowadays it's a lot better since Apple Wallet natively supports Japanese transit IC cards, and many payment terminals were upgraded to support EMV in anticipation for the Olympics.

In Europe, local restaurants and many other local shops prefer cash or it has to be a local chip card. The German bank chip card is very much loved. The fees for using regular credit cards are an issue too. And I hear VISA is raising fees soon. It's probably just going to affect the US, because they can get away with it there. If I visit South Korea, are they credit card friendly for VISA, Mastercard, AMEX, etc, or do I need cash? Street vendors probably want cash.
