This is a detailed overview of my lowered Tiger 900 Rally Pro, including all Touratech customisations. I'm 161.5cm or 5ft 3" and this is my first motorbike!
[UPDATE: (52seconds in video) I'm 5ft 3" or 161.5cm. Turns out I'm a little shorter than I thought (not 163cm) 🤣 ]
I got my motorbike license middle of August 2021. Without any previous riding experience I jumped straight onto my lowered Tiger 900 Rally Pro which was fully customised by Touratech. Thanks to their help I was able to touch the ground with both my feet and feel confident on-road and off-road.
In this video I show you what was customised and what made all the difference!

Thanks - looks like a nicely balanced bike with the lowered seat and adjusted suspension. Thinking about a Rally Pro also, but was concerned about the seat height. I currently have a lowered T7, but the Rally Pro even with the seat at the lower level felt more stable and less top heavy than the T7. Thanks for the tips.

You did the right thing to lower it. All the playing teeter-tooter advise, thanks but no thanks. My bike is lowered 1&3/8" in back and 1" in front, I'm very happy with how it rides, and very happy with maneuvering. You don't really need both feet down flat, you need enough foot on the ground to be comfortable and not have so much weight of the bike on 1 leg when stopped.

Wow that’s awesome to see you are happy on your own bike now! 💪 I (Anna) lowered my Himalayan too because I’m 1.60! So to begin being on a big bike like that you did right, but… if I can give you my personal advice, keep the spare parts and be ready the revert the setup in the future because the more you will be confident with the weight and handling off-road the more you will want a taller bike again! Hi Fiona, thanks for the video. Very informative. This is probably a dumb question, but, your lowered Rally Pro’s seat height is roughly the same as the GT low model. Why not start with that bike instead of going through all the trouble of lowering it? I have a 2020 GT low. I’m 5’6” but with 30” inseam (almost same as yours). Do you find the lowered bike makes it hard on your knees for longer rides? (Since they have to bend more than on a taller bike)

Congratulations on the courage you had to use a Tiger rally as your first bike. I was asking you for a clarification on the lowered saddle, in the video you say that the lowered saddle has also been made heatable, and also you have recovered another centimeter, so a total of 3 cm. Is this a saddle made for you? because in the touratech catalog there is no thank you.

Thank you Alessandro. So the Tiger 900 Rally Pro always has heated seats, which you lose when you switch to the lowered seat. Touratech did custom make this specific seat for me. They shaved 2-3 cm off without losing the heated seat function.

Thanks! Excellent video. Have you noticed a quality in the suspension on the road since it has been lowered and also when off roading? Less comfortable and control? Also, since you were a new rider why did you decide on a bike that size to start with? Also, what other bikes did you consider like KTM etc? And why that bike? We are wearing the Touratech Compañero Suits, consisting of a super vented summer suit and an additional waterproof and windproof layer (though I'm just wearing the summer suit here). I know I chose a very big first bike and I certainly wouldn't have done this without the Touratech customisations that gave me extra confidence as a short rider. My partner Sandra was riding the Tiger 900 Rally Pro and ideally we wanted to ride similar bikes, rather than have me on a super light dirt bike and not being able to keep up on the road trip. I love the bike but I also have fun on smaller bikes! I also considered the GS as I had the chance to ride it for some off-road training and also got on great with it. We actually started our world trip on a GS. I don't like test riding bikes as they are rarely lowered enough for me to feel confident, so it was a matter of sticking with the Tiger which we had been riding two up for about a year already. Sandra noticed a massive difference in the suspension on her first ride. She couldn't go back to a stock suspension now. As for me, I have to admit that I've been spoiled a little as I never rode the stock suspension (bike was too high) so I can't tell you how it compares, but I can tell you that I'm very happy with it :)

Interesting video and mods by Touratech however many of these mods inevitably will compromise the bikes performance. eg off road bike with reduced suspension or side stand being raised meaning more susceptible to falling over etc. On top it would be interesting to know how much shorter people are going to have to pay extra on an already expensive bike for these mods. When are manufacturers going to start building proper adventure bikes with similar performance that fit the very many riders who aren't tall. eg 100hp / 185kgs / 810cm seat height etc adventure bike ?
@advtravelbug6100

The seat lowered your ride height 30 mm and the forks and shock lowered the bike another 20 mm, correct? Lowering the forks 20 mm and the shock 20 mm makes the front and rear of the bike equally lowered by 20 mm, so the whole bike was 20 mm lower, not a total of 40 mm, right? 20 mm bike lowering plus 30 mm seat gave you 50 mm lower ride height.

Does it already have the same seat height as a Tiger 900 GT Low?
@advtravelbug6100

It's actually even lower as it was fully shaved down / customised by Touratech.

interesting. would have personally gone with raising the bike to increase ground clearance as a priority. nice movie

Thanks and I may do this in the future. But I just got my license and this was my first bike so getting my feet on the ground was my main priority to start with. But I know this comes at the cost of ground clearance and I can address this as I gain more experience. I know a lot of people who think this bike is too tall for them so just wanted to show them that it can be lowered beyond the lowered seat option of the dealership ☺️

Yes for sure any customisations always are but this is Fiona’s first ever bike and there is no chance she could have ridden such a big first bike st her height and the original seat 😅

Worst crash bars on the market - had a set of their lowers on my T7 - they bent twice at the tabs (in soft sand no less), the second time VERY badly - sheering of the oil cap and almost breaking the engine case. ZERO response/support from TouraTech who would simply not stand behind their products - they will never get another dime of my money, sorry.

Wow, that sounds terrible. Well I have to say they work great on the Tiger because I can't even count the amount of bike drops I've had with it! Haven't heard anything like this from anyone else using them. Lea Rick from Got 2 Go is using Touratech on her T7 and she is very satisfied with them. Are you sure they were fitted on correctly? I mean it's not rocket science, just can't believe you had such a bad experience with it ... sorry to hear that!

That’s a fair question, actually we chose to have the same bike initially and he work was done afterwards. I’ve not found that any of the changes have been hard on my knees at all, but this could be because it is a different bike?

Let me ask a question: Regardin the Touratech Suspension lowering shock (-20mm) for Triumph Tiger 900 Rallye Pro from 2020 Type Explore HP/PDS, the Touratech web side says¨IMPORTANT: We seriously advise against sliding the fork tubes up in the fork clamp. This has an extremely adverse effect on the motorbike's handling¨, but they did that in your Tiger, Any new opinion regarding this?

We understand that the sentence means that Touratech recommend lowering both the front and the rear, i.e. both, and not just putting the fork through. Hope this helps :)
