I have been considering having a few extra piercings in my ears for a while now but had always put it off because I still wanted to have a look that was professional and elegant (for at work etc etc). However, when looking at the Maria Tash Instagram page, I was seeing so many ideas for piercing sites, using jewellery that made it look edgy and classy at the same time.

Yes, these are beautiful! I hate when you go to a jeweler and ask for body piercing jewelry and they look at you like your trashy because you have piercings!!

Maybe so, but for now only the rich and spoiled brats can buy this stuff. It's out of reach for the average working class Joe. Another example of the "haves" and "have nots". I think it's ridiculous. Anyone who would pay the amount of a new car just for this crap need to see a psychiatrist. (Jan Griffiths).

Hana Alexander I have been buying labret rings for mine. The best place is body sparkle. They have a bunch of lengths!

I'm so glad that people are starting to learn the truth about how horrible piercing guns are. It's refreshing to see places other than professional tattoo and piercing shops using needles :) these looks stunning but I think the price of the jewellery is horrific 😂

Maria Tash is actually a professional piercing shop... you have to be to get the blood borne pathogens certificate to use needles

Why are guns bad?

anxiety they cause blunt force trauma to the piercing. The type of jewelry used for a gun also doesn’t allow for swelling in almost any place it is put which could cause the piercing to reject or get an infection. Needles are a lot more gentle and make a place for a piercing.

@@anxiettyy And piercing guns can't be sterilized fully. Getting pierced with a gun sets you up for infection, and swelling has no place to go because the studs are way too short, and can become embedded in the piercing. Just get done with a needle. (Jan Griffiths).

For those so shocked by the prices; Maira Tash is a high end body jewelry store. They use real diamonds, sapphires, emeralds, gold, silver, etc. The cheapest jewelry they sell is a couple hundred dollars. This woman in the video is in a department store called Harrods, which is extremely expensive; think of it as the Rodeo Drive of London, if you will. Nothing there is cheap and no one that can afford to shop there blinks an eye at the prices.

Sophie they look amazing on you!! Maria Tash is a marketing genius! She went from personally piercing celebrities and other customers back in the day at her small shop in NYC, to designing her own jewelry and opening up more shops! 👏

Those piercings and jewelry cost as much as my car. I have multiple ear piercings as well (12 in the right, 11 in the left). I much rather spend my money on a new car, or like we did earlier this year (2019) have our porches enclosed, and new security screen doors put on our house, which is paid for. Our in the ground swimming pool cost about the same as well. I'd much rather have those things than "luxury" jewelry. (Jan Griffiths).

If you have multiple piercings, simple, minimal-style jewellery looks very nice and isn't so distracting...you look cool but not outrageous (unless that is a look you're going for like for a party!).

❤️❤️❤️ Gorgeous. I'm 53 and just had my helix done with a very similar design. I love it. Now I want to my second but placed higher up like yours. I'm glad I waited to do those because I prefer the higher placement. Thanks for sharing this amazing experience. By the way, your reaction to the price was priceless! ❤️❤️❤️

Sophie...that is killer looking. Very classy. Piercings can easily look tacky if the placement and style of the earring is not perfect. What I like about the earrings that you chose is that they can be worn for any event or occasion. No need to change earrings or buy more earrings.

I love Maria Tash piercings! They are super delicate and feminine without looking tacky or unprofessional :) Unfortunately I won't be able to purchase those anytime soon haha....I found very similar pierces like yours on Etsy though....they are Sterling Silver or 14k Gold and are sold for $10 to $100!

There is a fair bit more “hate” in the comments section than I’d have hoped. People should just live and let live. It’s very true that another option is to get pierced with surgical studs & change them out for reasonably priced high end jewelry once healed. Some people don’t want to wait that 6-12 months and so Maria Tash has well cornered that market. Agree they’re a bit overpriced. Got 3 new piercings there and absolutely love them. My money, my business. Sophie, your choices are STUNNING! To all the negative posters, i recommend you just enjoy the sparkle in this great vlog and move on 💎😉😘

I think it really depends on where you are, for example in Dubai I leave my bags everywhere, even on the beach while I am swimming, my bag is there, no need to hide it, no one even looks at it... Because the crime rate is the lowest here in the world... But then when I traveled to Istanbul, I left my bag with my laptop in it for a second, someone stole it from my bag! There were cameras too and when I went to the police we literally saw on the camera the person taking my laptop out of my bag... it was heartbreaking lol, and this happened on a busy airport at a mobile shop while I was waiting for my new sim card! I found it ridiculous no one even noticed it, but anyways. Even if there are cameras it doesn't mean they can do anything about it, we never found the person, and I just bought a new laptop...

@@MeaGOfficial I agree, I am not that fussed with leaving my bag around in Dubai but I am also not silly with it and leave it unattended will nilly since there are plenty of have's and have-not's in our town! By the way, Maria Tash is launching her first store here later this month in the Dubai Mall!

As a person with a lot of ear piercings I couldn’t do this! Cleaning them is a pain as it is when they are healing I. And imagine being careful with the jewelry too. That being said they look amazing and you took them like a champ!

That's the great part of wearing the fine jewelry on the ears. It's unlikely you'll bump your ears on things. Fine rings and bracelets you have to always remember to be careful.

Really nice! Did both my ears 7 months ago, still healing. I'm a side sleeper and irritates it a bit. Make sure clean well for few months

they don't charge much for the piercing itself (compared to other competent piercers in my area anyway) and it's very hard to find fine body jewelry (with good design to boot). This company has been around for many years, I'm surprised it's only now having all of this extra growth

It's overpriced for what you get. There's other fine jewelry options. BVLA, bodygems, anatometal, neometal, Le roi, and other smaller brands like sleeping goddess. It's all beautiful, just overpriced. I like the ones she picked out

What a posh experience! Thanks for posting this, I had no idea places like this did piercings with needles (way better than guns). I just thought they did this at tattoo parlors. Which is fine, but this is way more luxe! Love the placement they did for you. The earrings you chose are divine. ❤️

The piercings are pretty, but overpriced. You need a lot of patience for the healing process, especially if you have several holes in one ear. I had 3 piercings on each ear and one on my nose. Unfortunately I had inflammation all the time and eventually I gave it up.

Andrea Pirringer I think I would have to do these one at a time and let each one heal before getting the next. The ear doesn't heal quickly in general and I think three at one time is just too much for such a small area with very little tissue.

@@sebeckley I also did not have all these piercings at the same time, but for many years I had "normal" earholes, then I had two more pierced. But there are different parts of the ear, some of which are very slow and difficult to heal. Some heals, but then it ignites again, e.g., when you unconsciously attack or not regularly disinfect. At night you lie on your ears and pressure is applied. Or the hair sticks to it etc .... It is also difficult in the nose, if you bark or scratch one's nose or makeup comes to the place and bacteria form.

sebeckley yeah she will have problems with them... I wonder why they did them all at once, they should know that it’s too much piercing at one go. Plus when ears heal they tend to bleed so the earings shouldn’t be „pretty” or it will be nasty. I guess they do it just for money...

I've had five piercings done by Maria Tash and none of them got inflamed, whereas the one piercing that I got done by a famous "regular" piercing parlour in London got so bad that I had to get antibiotics to calm it down. Maria Tash has the best jewellery and aftercare. They also don't charge much at all for the actual piercing. Yes, they're expensive (it is LUXURY), but I don't feel like they're overpriced.

@@sgo7142 that's really interesting, I also had a new piercing from a Well known "normal" piercing place in London, and after 5 days the pain and swelling was still so bad that I had to give it up. I was so sad, it took me years to pluck up the courage! So I wonder whether it is worth giving it another go either here or somewhere like Astrid & Miyu which is a similar idea but not quite so super expensive for the jewellery...

I have hated my birthday since age 25 and so, I always try and do something big or "different" to distract myself! haha! Hey, Sophie! Love the piercings! The jewels are very nice and the place looks very safe, which is great. As someone with piercings and tattoos, I'll ask you to pay attention to what you're eating throughout the beginning of the healing. I found out with friends in Europe and North America that the body piercers don't usually talk about how food might affect the healing process. Here in Brazil we're always advised to stay away from pork, fried foods and sea food at least for the first 2 months of healing to avoid an allergic reaction. Enjoy your new piercings!!!!

I do not have nor do I want any ear piercing but I watched the whole video because of You Sophie! :) Love the way you went through the whole process and how the ladies helped you during it, they are indeed lovely, no wonder one of them is a subscriber to you! I like the idea of bringing these kinds of piercing to the luxury style, very good concept and business idea, I think Maria Tash or the designer are going to make a fortune on this. These pieces are indeed very pricy but elegant and unique and they match your style perfectly. Hope that your ears are recovered now, they did immediately go red. They’re “ overpriced “ because their jewelry is for the most part 14k gold and up , the majority of it being 18K Also the majority of it is adorned with actual diamond/s Got my 2nd cartilage done by their company , and all the jewelry really stand out and are bold but beautiful .

Never pierce your ear with a gun because it's never sterilised, so Imagen all the bacteria building up on. It's the quickest way to catch a serious infection. Needles will always best because a professional will open a new pack In front of you to show that It hasn't contaminated, It also depends on your pain tolerance but generally needles hurt way less because It's a thin needle being pierced into your body for a minute. (I learnt this after getting pierced in Camden Market at Cold Steel which is the oldest piercing shop in London.) And for aftercare I would highly recommend boiling water and mixing a teaspoon of salt to the water, Wait for the water to warm and use a Q-Tip to clean the piercing. When finished flip it around never touching either side of the Q-Tip using the other side continue to clean It If needed. Try avoiding touching the piercing because your fingertips have a million germs imagen touching an open wound you've just applied more to it, so it'll take even longer to clean. NEVER accept a cleaning solution because It's always filled with chemicals that will ALWAYS affect the piercing. * Personal Experience* You can also use 100% organic Aloe Vera to the piercing If It feels irritated It will work has a natural pain killer and cure any infection.

I did some piercings with the gun to save money, even though I knew better. What a terrible idea! I ended up having to take all of them out, and now I’m trying to save up to have them redone with the needle. I can’t wait to have my ear finished even more now that I’ve seen yours! The jewelry is stunning, and for people with sensitive ears it’s perfect since you can choose gold.

Have been waiting on this video. My goodness Sophie your piercings and jewellery look amazing. Wish I could afford to get further piercings done here. So tempted when I was last in Harrods but it’s rather pricey. Appreciate the jewellery are of excellent quality. Customer service looks great too. Speedy healing xx

Sophie... Thanks so much for this great video... I think I was one of the first Westerners to have three piercings in each ear as I Pierced my own ears with the extra two holes in 1975.... Maybe I was even a trend-setter as I did not know anyone else who had the three holes in each ear... In those days I just took a 14K gold ear wire and sharpened it myself with a file... then I put a cork at the back of my ear and pushed it through... Yep... all by myself... but all mine are in the lobe... now I like the upper piercing too... You look amazing and you chose very wonderful earrings...

omg wow....i loveeee that! i know this video is a year old but it popped up on my feed and i have always wanted to get a piercing like that but when i got my 2nd hole done, it got infected and i had to take it out and this was like 3-4 yrs ago and haven't gotten anything done since then. i would love to do the same areas you have, but am scared. i duno why it got infected so fast....i did wat the lady said, but then again i think it may have been the piercing guns that everyone keeps talking about, which i had no idea at the time. and now i know....but urs looks absolutely stunning.

I went to the one in NYC and got the tiniest star stud and it was going to be 1300USD....so I put it back LOL..I was assuming because the piercing price is so cheap the jewelry wasn't that expensive..wrong-Always ask:) Yours look awesome though!
