This is the BIGGEST most complete interior model of the original Starship Enterprise ever built. Every deck from the bridge down to the cargo hold on deck 24! The bridge, briefing rooms, crew quarters, the transporter rooms (yes there was more than one transporter room on the ship!) Gymnasiums, recreation areas. THE ENTIRE SHIP! This video features a highly finished 1:100 scale dorsal section model and it's equivalent MASSIVE 1:25 scale version!

I have just been awe’d and amazed at what you have been able to accomplish and create for this entire starship build project! Outstanding work, creativity and imagination on your own singular vision for really trying to make the interior of this ship feel real and logical! Any place you can place energency personnel slides into your starship interior design, I am totally and completely with you on that idea. You would need to figure out how to get someone to decelerate down such very long multilevel slides to prevent serious injuries, though. Some of the standard machinery “Jefferies” style maintainance tubes could be converted to multilevel emergency personnel slides, as well! I have no issues with such an idea.

I really like the idea of those multi level spaces within this area, on ocean going craft one will often find machinery of indeterminate function crammed into unexpected places, so that detail lends further verisimilitude to the whole, and perhaps those stairs could access a hatchway leading to another gangway over further engineering elements, or the ships badminton court, I don't know that this vulnerable area should need a briefing room but nice design on it nonetheless, another poster mentioned possibly including one of those vertical ladders that we sometimes saw and this seems like a good idea for such a restricted space, in addition to tying your project directly to a little used part of the original ship that all would recognize, your imagination is on full display in this build, great work

I totally agree. I love the idea of the crewed areas having to be build around the huge machine structures within and that the shape of the ship is about where the machinery is, hence it's shape. I really dislike the LCARS displays that just show the ship as a bunch of horizontal floors. We need to see a big arse engine and fuel tanks in the engineering section to justify it having to be built below the crew saucer.

Loved your rendition of the UFO theme song! I loved that show, and at the time there wasn't much other sci-fi on TV (well aside from the TOS re-runs, of course!). Your idea of an escape chute is hilarious, however, one would be travelling down 8 (?) decks, it would be like taking a slide off of an 8 story building, it would be scary and you would really be moving by the time you got to the secondary hull. There would need to be some kind of sandbags or safe landing platform for anyone using this form of escape. And if multiple people took it, they would pile up on each other at the bottom. It's a really fun idea, just unsure about how safe it would be? Keep up the great work, love your imagination and enthusiasm!
@mrtrek2117
@mrtrek2117 4 ай бұрын
UFO was a great show indeed! My idea with the slide is that there could be some kind of gravitation 'nulling' effect to the speed of descent so that it goes rapid to start with but then the speed is dampened near the end of the slide. There would be a gentle gradient also allowing escaping crewmembers to simply stand up and walk away.

Strangely, there's just something so tangible seeing this model that a hyper-detailed computer generated model just doesn't convey. And I actually really like the idea of putting more non-essential spaces (conference rooms, etc,) in the dorsal section along with connective utility conduits/passages/shafts,. with the idea that you have the engineering section and saucer section focusing on the more critical functionality (especially if the saucer should ever become separated). And now with you creatively exploring how a 2-deck tall space might be like at the base there...just wonderful! Bravo!

This is so cool seeing how much bigger the 1:25 scale model is compared to the 1:100 especially seeing how colossal the final model is going to be. I love the idea of the large open space, I thought maybe the large grey item was something to do with the saucer separation like a landing foot or boarding ramp. I love the escape chute although I’d be terrified to use it myself. I will say though I hope you keep the windows the same as the original ship. I like the reasoning behind the changes but it’s just not the enterprise.

I highly recommend that you get a cheap LED laser engraver cutter, like five or ten watts to cut multiple patterns in great detail from cardboard to decorate the ship and make it more recognizable. If you have to cut all those thousands of parts with an exacto knife or a razor blade. It's a joy to build your own projects to explore a ship you have never been on and making new things no one knows about. I too am designing a ship, at full scale and although it cannot be made exactly like the movie Enterprise but it can be functional and recognizable as the enterprise . I need a model builder to help with my project and was thinking about asking Adam Savage to work on it in the future.

Absolutely loving every minute of these videos! And I remember that UFO show, those moonbase women were hot! I know this isn't canon, but here's an idea to expand on your multi-level compartment in the dorsal. What if during year 4 of the Enterprise's mission, Kirk and Scotty have a photon torpedo launcher installed at the rear base of the dorsal to cover the crucial lack of rearward weapons fire arc. It would be installed during a routine maintenance docking at a starbase, according to Scotty's design and supervision. Starfleet likes this idea so much they later expand on it which results in the larger dual launcher compartment at the base of the dorsal on all of the refit Constitutions.

I agree 100%. The Constitution for her time was very powerful. As for the dorsal, quite frankly, it is open for interpretation really. I'm almost positive there is no "cannon" sources for what would be there and whatever you decide on will be perfect I'm sure. That being said, I am glad you deleted the mini-lifts and incorporated an actual turbo-shaft connecting the saucer to the engineering hull 👍 Perhaps along the leading edge of the dorsal could be the "Jeffrey's Tube" with emergency stairs.
@Starshipsforever
@Starshipsforever 4 ай бұрын
We kind of do know because in Star Trek: The Motion Picture, there's a map in the turbolift Kirk takes to get to the bridge from the cargo bay and you can see there's at least one main turbolift shaft running right up the middle of the dorsal along with about 5 sub branches.
@bloodyirishman5758
@bloodyirishman5758 4 ай бұрын
@@Starshipsforever One could argue that the MSD you are referring to is for the refit and not the original Constitution Class. Obviously, so much was changed, altered and upgraded for the refit Enterprise that the configuration of said refit could easily be vastly different than her original layout. These facts aside, I do believe that having a direct turbo-shaft transitioning the main hull and the engineering hull via the dorsal is a must.
@Starshipsforever
@Starshipsforever 4 ай бұрын
@@bloodyirishman5758There's also the MSD display of the Enterprise's sister ship Defiant as seen in ST:ENT's "In a Mirror, Darkly, Part 2" which corroborates the turbolift shaft running straight down the middle of the dorsal neck was a thing pre-refit.

@@Starshipsforever Yes, you're absolutely right. I believe the display you are referring to was the status display brought up when they were identifying the location of the Gorn but I need to watch that episode again to be 100% positive. It was made by Doug Drexler if I'm not mistaken...please correct me if I'm wrong on that. Curious your take on this. In that display the Constitution is split down the centerline. There is the predominant "tubing" shown from the engineering hull thru the dorsal and part of the saucer. But, there is no "tube" in that display traversing up the the well known protrusion at the rear of the bridge. Also well know to be on said centerline. Could the displayed tubing be instead main power transfer conduits? Especially since as mentioned the tubing does not follow the well established shaft that would and should connect to the bridge. Does create the rabbit hole as it were for if those shafts are not turbo-shafts then it creates the issue of room in the dorsal for said shafts at least by how the diagram in question is laid out.
@Starshipsforever
@Starshipsforever 4 ай бұрын
@@bloodyirishman5758 Yes, Mirror Reed zooms the display in on main engineering in the secondary hull, so if you don't freeze frame it or go to image sites, you won't see the whole thing very well. And yes, it was based on a cutaway made by Doug Drexler and was on his website for many years. The full art is available on the Cygnus site and is well worth it. You can see that there is a central main shaft in the dorsal, then in the saucer there's a central shaft that runs up all or most of the saucer decks to the bridge. In the TMP map, it shows two separate shafts.

Happy Easter treckers and treckies. I don't know how you identify lol😂that 10 floor slide would need to land in a splash pool to stop crew from breaking legs and we all know somebody who would slide headfirst and die.

The 'chute' idea is nice except, what do you do when the gravity plating is deactivated? Also, are you planning on adding the horizontal turbo lift shaft above deck 8?

I am enjoying this build very much. I can't believe the speed in which you are building these pieces from week to week. Very impressive. A question about the impulse engine deck though. I see you are referencing the FJ prints for some ideas. Is your final build going to have that particular engineering deck as shown in this update for the impulse engine room and then a similar room in the secondary hull which has also been called the engineering deck. The curved wall above the red grating reflects the secondary hull's curved engineering hull ceiling. The tubes behind the red screen were part of the warp engine reaction chamber heating unit, according to one source. The impulse engines have a different interior look to them according to a cut-away picture of the Enterprise that I have. This is just a notation. My personal belief is that the Engineering deck shown in the series is the one in the secondary hull. I could be wrong, though. This is your build, however, and you should do whatever treks your mood. I'm not trying to take that away from you. You have some awesome ideas for the different decks and that escape slide is pretty awesome. You did ask for comments and thoughts. One more note about your observation platforms that surround the saucer section for your final build. Instead of allowing a catwalk above the back end of the saucer, I would suggest you do it over the front end, instead. Seeing how close you may be putting that crossover walk to both of the Nacells gave me the feeling of "not such A good idea" only because it is human nature for people to touch things that are not made to be touched. The first thing I thought of when I saw that idea was all of the scratches, gum and stickers that people might put on those engine domes from touching the collectors. I can see the amount of TLC you are putting into this project and I would hate to see even one scratch on anything that you've built, especially on something this size. Keep up the great work, Mr. Trek! I can't wait to see your next update. Mark

The only thing I would like to see is more of the structure. I imagined the dorsal section being very rigid with heavy structure and lots more utility and engineering sections. Lots of large conduits and such. Big braces making the corridors even more narrow. I picture lots of ladders between decks and maybe only one turbo lift access point. But I don't know. I'm an engineer and tend to think like one. You are doing a wonderful job and I am definitely a fan.

Since gravity is artificial anyway, they could flip a switch and go up the slide. The inertial dampers would catch them safely either way. In fact, there could be a running track on a "wall" surface, like in "2001 ".

what if on the other side there is a slide going up into the saucer? they use artificial gravity anyway, so they could just make an inverted slide that slides upwards

Absolutely! Totally didn't think of that. Issue in the secondary hull, everyone slides up to the saucer and vice versa!

I'm anxious to see more machinery, tubes, ducts, GNDN things in some parts of ship. To me, it looks to much empty. A space ship should have more mechanical things, specially in a important part as dorsal structure. That's my thoughts.

Idea! Rent any location Put all models built so far on display and accept donations at the door. This will raise money and public awareness of your project. It will also lay a smooth path to your goal of a 50 ft ship.

Yes, it would be neat but the dorsal section of the Constitution-class Heavy Cruiser is too narrow to allow this. Compartment that takes up multiple levels would compromise the structural integrity of that section. On dorsal deck 8, you really need to bring the turbolift shaft forward by means of a horizontal shaft. A crewman is capable of stepping on the turbolift on the bridge and travel all the way to deck 24 without having to change to another turbolift. I realize that this is your interpretation of the Constitution-class but us true Trekkies would rather you stick to the established deck plans that exist of this ship.
@mrtrek2117
@mrtrek2117 4 ай бұрын
My single question to you is this, why would a crewman ever need to travel from the bridge directly to deck 24? Though I try, I can not think of a single occassion anyone would need to do this.
@artan6966
@artan6966 4 ай бұрын
@@mrtrek2117 Just because you cannot think of a reason for anyone to do this doesn't mean that they cannot. Any Federation starship that has a secondary hull has turbolift shafts that attaches the saucer and the secondary hull together. Here is a scenario for you. During battle, the ship takes enough damage to be in jeopardy of a matter/anti-matter explosion. Dumping the anti-matter is the only way to avoid this from happening, but during the combat the automatic ejection system has been damaged. The only way to successfully accomplish the anti-matter is ejection is going down to deck 24 and throwing the manual ejection lever. The turbolifts are still online and a quilified engineer can make the trip faster by turbolift than by going down ladders and slides.
@mrtrek2117
@mrtrek2117 4 ай бұрын
@@artan6966 The secondary hull is the engineering hull, do you think there would not be a single engineer in that entire hull that could head down to deck 24 in the turbolift, would there only be one engineer (who would be on the bridge) who could eject the anti-matter. Again, there is not a single occasion/emergency that would require anyone to travel from the bridge directly to any location in the secondary hull.
