They have those LCD windows in Japan office buildings to reflect sunlight, they have millions of embedded crystals in them like an LCD watch face. Current runs through them to flip the window clear or opaque. Same tech as an LCD watch.

Another possibility is on a building like this with the same shape, build just the back end and edge of the hangar bay to scale even if it’s not the entire bay. With all the lighting and logos.

Big love for your work as you know. My view, as Captain (and as a film maker and model builder) - the angle is a camera cheat; it's throwaway, in a way. If you average the more meaningful narrative cues/hints, in the world of the ship, the bridge faces forwards, even if the tech is wrong (again, it's just a fudge, not intentional, not holy, just a tool for the shot) - no model has ever been made after it. My answer, if wanting to make absolute technical sense - which it never likely will! - would be to engineer the section on a rotating plaftform for demonstration of the fudge, while not compromising the visual

Hi Ed, thanks for the comment and the input. I'm wondering if you support me on Patreon and become the real Captain Kirk of our ship. I'd love the announce that both on my channel in a video with a big shout out and link to your channel and also on my Patreon page. We are now a real crew of 210 supporting Patreons and I know for sure they would be blown away excited to know you were the Captain of this ship. My channel now has almost 20K subs. The Patreon support is just $10 per month. I'd love you to come with us (lead us) on this mission. My mission is to hit 100K subs by the end of the year. Hope you will sign up! Wonderful! Congratulations once again on this amazing project! I'm glad you welcome feedback! :-) I love that you're paying keen attention to the psychological needs of the crew, that is wonderful. I also like that you're putting recreation areas right in the heart of the ship rather than pushing it away down in the lowest decks - it makes these spaces seem more central and therefore more social. For these recreation areas, please don't forget to have LOTS of area where crew can just sit or lie down. Lots of seating. I like the pool idea, though I'm honestly not sure about its current location, because it quite "enclosed", almost claustrophobic, with nowhere to sit by the side of the pool, and no obvious way to even get inside there. With no "poolside" there's more risk of drowning. What if you're swimming and feel dizzy or unwell? You need to get to an edge, but with your design there are no edges. You'll also need changing rooms of course. I'd have changing 'areas' with walls but no ceilings. For a bit of fun, the ladies' area is slightly visible from certain places on Deck 7. LOL Personally, I prefer pools that are more open and have lots of space around them to mingle, therefore I would be more inclined to have a pool nearer the centre of the deck, either raised or sinking into the deck below. To me, the only reason to put a pool on the outside would be for the windows, but I don't believe there are windows on this deck. Another idea for deck 8 - you have a turbolift shaft cutting through the middle. Maybe the shaft on this deck could be transparent, to open up the space more? Another detail is that I think you should MAXIMISE the presence of the trees by making them as visible as possible on deck 7 - so walls should have windows so patients can see the tops of the trees. It would be nice to have a line of sight to these trees from far across that deck somehow. A few more ideas… I also think you should try to use the location of external windows as a guide to where to put recreation areas, because those windows are precious commodities and people want to look outside when they're relaxing. Oh and can you do me a favour and put SOME crew quarters in the rear top of the engineering section, decks 16-18? (Even if it's just 1 or 2 quarters.) The reason being that if I lived on the Enterprise I would like the option of "living" on that part of the ship. If I worked on the saucer section, it would feel like I had a little more space between home and work. Also, I really don't think the contents of the very bottom few decks should have anything that demands people be in there much. Psychologically, I like the idea of those lower few decks being mostly uninhabited. It just feels wrong for there to be lots of people down there. It's like a creepy dark cellar. And CERTAINLY no bowling alley at the bottom! My final suggestion (which is no doubt already on your to-do list) is that every incarnation of Trek has shown that crew ALWAYS want to play sports. So you need areas for sportss such as squash, table tennis, fencing, pool. Maybe even a bigger area for bigger sports? I'm sure you're already planning this anyway. Lee (in Devon)

Hello my friend. just thought I'd pass along a bit of "gravity wisdom", With "gravity plating" any surface you apply it to is now a floor. If you are on a turbo lift, and you tip the lift the occupants will not know it, because they are standing on the plating . this may help to overcome certain problems you may run into. Great work, keep going.

My one nitpick is that I don't see sickbay having its own dedicated transporter in this era. The 23rd century transporter seems to me to be a big, complex device. Having dedicated devices for specialty applications seems more like a 24th century innovation. Also, the show always depicted medical emergencies using the main transporter rooms. Other than that, I am liking your efforts and the thought process behind them.

This is a magnificent undertaking done with the care that only a true artist can produce. However, I do take issue with you calling it the interior of the original USS Enterprise, which it is not. Since there are no "official" blueprints, it would be more accurate (and truthful) to claim that this is your rendition of the way you would like the interior to be like.

What an astonishing job you are doing fleshing out the ship as it would need to be for long missions, which are what the Constitution class ships were designed for. Everything you are adding makes complete sense and I even face slap myself that these things never occurred to me. Just ONE huge favor. No bowling alley. That was such a 60s thing and has been over with for a very long time. Something else to think about. A compartment for phaser firing practice. Not the 3d hologram stuff in the D but an actual long target practice area with pop up friend and foe, just like a gun range today. These people were out there a long time and really need a practice range to keep their skills sharp.
@Scripture-Man
@Scripture-Man 4 күн бұрын
I totally agree about the bowling alley. It's stupid, and even with artificial gravity, it just seems odd having that on a starship. I don't agree about the target practice, that sounds like a huge space for very little benefit when they can train on planets.

I love it! Love the idea of connecting the Sick Bay to the running track: absolutely logical. The idea of crew art hung around the track is equally brilliant. Well done indeed! I might recommend some benches or a picnic table inside the park: if you're out running, the park area is going to be the most likely area for a rest. Also consider a locker room somewhere in the vicinity
