My Modest Sword Collection For a really nice vintage collectable World War II Japanese Type 95 Shin Gunto NCO Sword you're looking at $2,500-$15,000 and up. Below is a little more info on all my modest sword collection.
1. Snow-Tac handmade Medieval Gladius short sword, so I was inspired to make this sword from the Netflix movie series "The Last Kingdom" I wanted it shorter for a lighter version and I wanted the wider fuller like his movie sword. Specs: Full tang 5160 spring steel, blade length 17-1/2" handle length 6-3/4" Ov. Length 24-1/2" it has the wider 1" fuller, by making it with this wider fuller I was able to get a sword that would normally weight 2.0 pounds down to a mind blowing weight only 1.4 pounds! The pommel end is dressed with a 1 oz pure silver St. Christopher medallion on one side and on the other side is a 1963 90% silver quarter year I was born.
2. Talon Claw Calvary-Wakizashi, this is a 1095 high carbon steel and I tempered the blade down so the steel is not as hard fully tempered. 1" wide X 22-1/2" X 1/8" thickness the blade was cut at angle and finished angle when quenched. The handguard is a guard off a Rambo First Blood hollow handle survival knife, made with a 1" aluminum tube and the swords tang runs full length through the aluminum handle and has been liquid cold weld filled, with a (Eagle Talon Claw Pommel End) titanium lockout pin
3. United hand forged Wakizashi 20-1/2" blade with fuller, 9-1/2" handle 1060 carbon steel
4. Short Wakizashi made from a longer 1060 katana, I cut the blade down to 18-1/2 with a 8" shorter knife size samurai handle, the hand guard is handmade out of commercial bronze. I cut down the original scabbard to size.

That 2 blade set is exactly what im looking for with the only difference being the larger blade having a single edge with a wharncliff point.

The first one looks like a variant of a gladius, nicely done.

It is....I wanted the wider fuller and luckily my wheel on my high speed 2" belt grinder the 2" x 3" wheel with a 1" convex hogged off a perfect 1" fuller, it was like just fate or stupid luck. lol! Then I thought I can make these.

Thanks! It is a pretty bad ass setup....I'm very proud of them and the Gladius short sword is a incredibly light since I made it with a 1" fuller's there's only 1/8" between the fullers concave wall. Most Medieval swords are around a standard weight of around 2-lbs, I got this one down to super light weight of only 1.4-lbs!

I too have a modest sword collection each of them different, 4 are sharp and one blunt for training purposes in stainless. One is a very sharp iaijutsu katana that I keep by my bed. One is a shortened highly customised ninjato, a straight gatana which was a gift from a friend and a USMC NCO sword which frankly is my favourite, those 3 in stainless steel. I also have a select collection of sheath and folding knives. Some people say that stainless steel isn't great for blades but I think it's well good enough. I also have an original issue Gurkha kukri and a tactical tomahawk. Variety is the spice of life. I've had many cuts on my fingers and hands but now I wear cutproof gloves when I sharpen and play with them.

A stainless steel sword will kill and is just as lethal as a carbon steel sword....when it comes to the blade hitting the human body with a single blow the energy and cutting force will kill instantly. As combat medic/medical specialist /EMT with over 3000 EMS calls to my credit and I studied to be a physician assistant understanding the human body our bodies are under osmotic pressure, so just the single blow from a stainless steel sword or carbon steel sword will cause hypovolemic compromise to the vascular blood pressure from the energy in "joules" delivered from the blow to the body which is under osmotic pressure, then comes cardiovascular compromise from instant blood loss from the cut regardless of the blade steel. Carbon steel swords hold their resale value better because they're easier to sharpen and the medium range carbon content can handle severe blunt force shock better, there's way less chance they'll break under combat conditions. Self-defense applications are very different than combat applications. Carbon steel=combat conditions and Stainless steel=self-defense applications when it comes to swords and their steel. Stainless steel sword is still a formidable self-defense weapon, carbon steel sword is a formidable combat weapon.

Well the Medieval Gladius 17-1/2" blade I made out 5160 is seriously razor sharp and only problem with it is I actually made it too sharp and that makes it extremely dangerous. The light weight Talon Claw sword is the one I would grab if I had multiple attackers it's super light and fast, very sharp 22-1/2" X 1" blade with 7-1/2" handle the handle is solid liquid cold welded full tang, it 's cross of Calvary sword and Wakizashi, it's not going to weigh you down.
