My dirt oval has quickly become one of my favorite Backyard RC Tracks! I grew up around dirt oval racing and eventually found myself racing winged sprint cars here in the Northwest! A lot of the best racing happens on these dirt ovals around the country, but in RC the oval community isn't nearly as big as off-road. Because of that I waited quite a few years to build myself an oval, but I wish I would have built one sooner.
It's not only super satisfying to try to make perfect laps, but it's super fun to do battle with our 4x4 Short Course trucks! My track is a little bull ring short track, and with the short course bodies, we can really go wheel to wheel and lean on eachother in the corners! We have a blast doing it, and the setting in the woods at my house under the lights is super cool!
If you're thinking about building your own RC Track this is where I'd start, and you could even expand outwards to include an off-road track and have kind of a 2 in 1 setup! You'll probably get more out of your space that way, and it's easier to maintain 1 track than two separate ones!
