The time has come to attempt my Module 1 (MOD1) test.
This is for my A1 License - It's a Full 125 License essentially.
The A2 license consists of the same modules, but you are required to ride a larger motorcycle.

I took 4 tries to pass my Mod 1 when I did my DAS, only times I made any errors was on the tests. Hour or so perfect practice before the tests and then ride to the test centre and cock it up lol. When I was finally booked in for the test I passed I hadn't ridden anything for 2 weeks, drove to the test centre after work, my instructor delivered the bike for me and I just jumped on and did it and pissed it. I decided to adopt the same approach for the Mod 2 a couple of weeks later and sailed through that with one minor.

Nope, Your CBT license is valid for two years. When you turn 17 you can simply ride a 125cc without any further tests e.c.t You just need to purchase, tax and insure the motorcycle of course..

Hi man I have a couple questions. The first being that I am very nearly 16 and I'm going to get an aprilia rs50 as my first bike and I want to know how easy it is to pass a CBT test?
@EvolutionMotovlogs
@EvolutionMotovlogs 8 жыл бұрын
+CoasterFreakzz500 Top 10's and showdowns The CBT course is quite straight forward and simple for most people. It's not necessarily a test - it is a whole day course which you spend with an instructor who teaches you how to ride safely. If you meet a safe standard you will obtain a pass certificate - if you do not, just revisit for another CBT and polish up on whatever you may be falling behind on. Most times you can pass first time, others can take a few attempts! To get a head start, revise your highway code and theory. Also, there are plenty of videos and information online for first time riders.

@EvolutionMotovlogs

They will teach you 99% of everything you need to know on the day. HOWEVER - you can get ahead of the game and prepare yourself by learning and revising the highway code/theory. I also spent some time learning the basic controls as to, where everything is located and how to change gears.

What’s the difference between a cbt and an A1 practice test?
@EvolutionMotovlogs
@EvolutionMotovlogs 6 жыл бұрын
CBT is your compulsory basic training (allows you to ride 50cc at 16, 125cc at 17). The A1 is the full license for a 125cc (no L plates required, can carry pillions and access motorways).
@OliverStevens414

I just failed my first attempt at an A2 license because of a 10cm skid on my emergency stop. The skid was measured because it was so small yet they had to fail me. I'm just going to wait 8 months until I'm 24 now and resit both mods and hopefully end up with a full license.

It's £450 if you do a training course with a test centre. If you are ready to do so, you can book the Mod 1 and Mod 2 yourself with the test centre. Mod 1 is approx £15 and Mod 2 is approx £75 - plus you need to pass your theory test.

You can't ride a motorway with a vehicle and L plates. At 17 you can take your full 125 license (A1) and this allows you to use motorways on a 125cc.

You may have already done a video on this question, if so sorry. But what riding position do you prefer between the R125 and MT125 and why? I'll be taking my test in June but I've only ridden a commuter and I'm trying to decide what style of bike to get after my test.
@pingu42069
@pingu42069 8 жыл бұрын
I'm not evo and I don't own either of those bikes, but I can say that the r125 has a more sport bike position - hunched over slightly ( though not uncomfortable ) and the mt-125 is more upright. The mt-125 is a more commuter friendly bike as it has a better turning circle and can carry panniers. Hope some of that made sense..
@EvolutionMotovlogs
@EvolutionMotovlogs 8 жыл бұрын
+6Twisted It's not something I have covered specifically in a video but I do plan to do an comparison. I've ridden three sportsbikes and loved every one of them. The seating position is not designed for long commutes but is something which you will adapt to. Overall, a more upright position such as the MT is and always will be more comfortable. The style of motorbike you ride is up to you, I'd suggest having a test ride or at least sit on the bike you may be interested in.

How easy is the cbt
@EvolutionMotovlogs
@EvolutionMotovlogs 8 жыл бұрын
+BIKELIFE HD It all depends on your background knowledge. If you are fairly familiar with the 'roads and the rules' and have had some past experience on a motorbike you'll fly through with your eyes shut. If you are new to the road and riding it's still achievable with much ease - just pay attention, focus and do some theory revision before hand. Remember a CBT is not a test, it's just training so you can take multiple sessions if you are not ready on your first.
@itsdangerouseu

Ayup mate, just one question about the A1 (Module 1) test. I have a Yamaha yzf r125 your old bike funny enough, and I've had it for about a month and I really want to do my A1 test so I can take the L plates off and ride on motorways. So do you think that I can do the A1 test with just 1 month of riding on a 125? I seem quite confident but just your opinion will help. Also how much did your test cost? Congrats on passing and hope you pass your a2 soon! Keep up the good videos mate. Cheers
@EvolutionMotovlogs
@EvolutionMotovlogs 8 жыл бұрын
+Dangerous M8 Ultimately you will be the only one to answer that question. If you are confident enough and have the riding ability to pass it then go for it! It's only £15 to book on your own motorbike at a local test center. Just remember, you'll need to be able to perform figure of eight, riding through cones, emergency stop and some other stuff. IF you don't think you are ready, give it some time and practice or alternatively book some lessons with a instructor. I hope this helps mate :)
@itsdangerouseu
@itsdangerouseu 8 жыл бұрын
I went in today to my local training center and they said it's best to take lessons before i jump straight into doing the actual test but it's so expensive to do. There is the problem that the bike I have doesn't have the best turning circle as you would know yourself and i wouldn't feel confident to do it on my own bike and the bloke i spoke to today said that i have to use my own bike :( I might just keep trying the test to see if i can pass because it was £500 for a full training course at the place i went to today but i can't afford that atm.
@EvolutionMotovlogs
@EvolutionMotovlogs 8 жыл бұрын
Of course they would suggest extra training, if you can afford it then it's a no brainier but as you've explained it's just ridiculously expensive. Keep practicing in your own time and give the MOD1 a shot - what have you got to loose? Admitadley, the poor turning circle does make it a little difficult.
@itsdangerouseu
@itsdangerouseu 8 жыл бұрын
Yea might just give it a go, it is around £15 which isn't too bad to be honest, do you know how many times you can attempt it? if it's a few times i might as well just do it instead of spending £500 on training and still fail. I might just give it a shot. The only thing i think that is making me not do it is that the bike isn't the best for it. Thanks for your help anyway mate, keep up the good vids!
@EvolutionMotovlogs
@EvolutionMotovlogs 8 жыл бұрын
+Dangerous M8 In theory there is no limit! However if you are struggling after an attempt or two it may be worth booking some training as oppose to trying to bluff it. I'd say go for it and see how you get on! Thanks for watching and stay awesome :)

+Kyle TheTreeKat I think so too! Insurance wise it has fluctuated so much from bike to bike. My MT125 is about £600-£700 Fully comprehensive (2 year NCB). However my Aprilia RS50 was £450 third party fire and theft with 0 no claims bonus.

I don't think a 50 would move me to be honest 😂 and yknow 32 on a 70mph road to get to town is gonna get me killed, Idk I'll sort something out haha. The A2 license is a pain in the ass...basically you have to be over the age of 25 to be able to do the test on a 600cc. If you are under the age of 25 and over the age of 19 you must do the test on a restricted bike it doesn't matter what cc it is in the eyes of the law and examiners. What the bike has to be is under 47 horse power and not be any less than 170kg so stops you from jumping on a 2 stroke Italian rocket that'll put out 60 horsepower and weighs less than an Americans thigh. Once you have had your A2 license for 2 years you can ride up to a 600cc. Still need to wait until you are 25 to do your A license though and be able to ride anything you want -.- also how many Cbt's you had? and did the A2 license not interest you? Cheers for the upload!
@EvolutionMotovlogs
@EvolutionMotovlogs 8 жыл бұрын
+uPlum Yup, you've got it there. The license system is slightly frustrating I find. I'm not old enough to do my A2 as of yet - and I've done 2 CBTs.

i'm 32 and currently ride MT125 and doing DAS next month, what's the difference doing the mod 1 on the MT to a bigger bike? slow control is so easy on the MT i could probably do the slalom with just throttle but that seemed so much harder on Z650 i tried out as a tastrr for the DAS
@EvolutionMotovlogs
@EvolutionMotovlogs 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Andy G, theoretically the test is identical in terms of the pass criteria and what you'll be doing. The only real difference is the motorbike that you're demonstrating your competence on. The 125's are very nimble, light weight and forgiving. Once you've adapted to the extra throttle power, braking power, weight and how the bigger bikes feels you'll ace it.
@EvolutionMotovlogs
@EvolutionMotovlogs 5 жыл бұрын
Apologies for the slow reply, your DAS must be soon approaching! The mod 1 & 2 tests are identical, you're literally just demonstrating capability on a larger motorbike. The 'bigger bike' is obviously heavier, it's got more 'go power' and better 'stop power'. Other than that, in essence they're identical. You just need a few hours or days to adapt to the bigger bike, principal is the same.
