My new Squirrel Buster Bird feeder

Enjoyed watching the variety of birds pay a visit to the bird feeder filled with peanuts. I especially enjoyed watching a squirrel get foiled. Shot this footage within 20 minutes.

@@ufartface I think the whole outer layer slides down. the squirrel's weight on the outer shell triggers the change no matter how he gets there .. unless the squirrel gets his paws stuck in the openings? but then his paw would be caught

Try coating the vertical support with Armor-All. That stuff makes smooth surfaces super slick.

Not nearly as funny as the spinning ones that leave the squirrels super dizzy, but looks very effective.

This is the only one that the Jackdaws can't land on. I put spikes on the cross bar of the post and removed the seed squirrel buster and that finally delt with the Jackdaws

It's metal. The seed is in a separate cylinder inside. The design is flawless.

I have 3 squirrel buster feeders (two different models) and both are different than yours. Is the bottom portion for clinging birds? My latest feederwatch video includes a red-bellied woodpecker too! *update* just researched it and it's a peanut feeder. I jumped on Amazon and bought one. Thanks!

You might want to put it on a higher hanging rod. At that height they are easy targets for cats.

I love squirrel buster feeders we are on a second bigger one and the little buggers still can't get any seed. But they eat all my avacado's!! Bummer!

How long did it take before your Blue Jays started eating out of your feeder? They look all around mine but they wont jump on it. I increased the tension to hold them but they cant seem to take a hint.

If you want more blue Jays, put out whole peanuts. BJs won't resist the peanuts! I prefer to buy raw peanuts.

It appears that the larger birds are bullying the smaller birds. Have you seen the home made feeders made with aquariums and pipes? After it is made only smaller birds can get through the openings to the seed. No large birds or squirrels can get in.

@MILDRID…think guy with fish tank feeder is CHRIS NOTAP I have fish tank I plan to make like that…don’t use PVC in place of metal they chew the PVC

If it only drops down then any squirrel that learns to hang onto the bottom will be able to raid the feeder. Myself I just keep a .22 Crosman close by, they learn to stay away.

you give me an idea put up a bird feeder and when the squirrels is trying to get it I have good target practice nothing we like better out here in Oklahoma than the shooting squirrels

Get a 2" diameter section of PVC pipe approx 4 -5 ' long from Home Depot and place it over/around the thin diameter wrought iron post you are currently using. Squirrels can not climb wide diameter poles.

Wrong, I did just that, and this squirrel hugged the 2' PVC and shimmed up the pole and after it's "lunch", slid down it to the ground. This squirrel figures it out. Their like weeds, they just keep coming and more of them. I had to just take my feeder down. :(

@@mhmitzee Just put some vaseline on the pole, if an occasional grey squirrel is able to climb your pole. Rain doesn't wash it away from a vertical pole. If squirrels weren't attracted to bird feeders, how would I know where to put my squirrel traps ? I am very close to disposing of 500 grey squirrels in a little over 5 years.

@@mhmitzee Grey squirrels are the most destructive of all rodents by a wide margin. Nothing good will result from having a lot of them in your neighborhood. Ask your auto mechanic about this when you are talking with him.

@@ccdogpark : As far as, automobiles, that goes for cats too.. My girlfriends cats chewed up my fuel rail insulators and destroyed them. I couldn't keep them out. They'd go up through my front wheel wells. That ended the relationship.

It appears that if a squirrel perched on the bottom half of the feeder, it could eat all the seed it wanted.

Perching on either the top or bottom half of the feeder pulls down the outer shell that blocks the feed ports

Because birds don't weigh enough to pull it the cover down. Those covers are on a spring which is strong enough to resist the weight of most birds leaving the ports open for them, but if a squirrel tries it they pull down covering them. They sell these bird feeders at most department stores including WalMart if you want to check them out and see how they work.

Birds like a BlueJay weigh up to 100 grams, Cardinals weigh up to 65 grams, while squirrels weigh 400-600 grams.

I have the exact same squirrel 🐿️ buster nut feeder, unfortunately I have the smartest brats in my yard so they figured it out how it works and now they are eating all the peanuts. Yes I have contacted Squirrel 🐿️ Busters and sent them the video of how my brats in my yard are having a major pow-wow….and have the nerve to stand at the glass sliding door looking in… Ummmm sorry to bother you, but the peanut feeder is empty…🐿️

I feed birds rabbits and squirrels. By far squirrels are more entertaining. Don't understand why people hate them. I've never had anything destroyed by a squirrel.

The BEST squirrel buster is a Havahart model #1083 "E-Z set" trap. I disposed of 23 last month (June 2019) alone, with 2 traps at the base of my bird feeders. I don't even use my older model Havahart traps anymore. And the best part about them is it takes a 1 pound animal to set them off so I never end up catching bird species that like peanut butter. 95% of the time, there is a grey squirrel inside my closed trap. The 1083 can be set in in less than 5 seconds with 1 hand. I then take them to the EXACT SAME spot in a nearby wooded area for the porcupine, opossum, hawks, and foxes to scavenge. If you take a carcass to the same spot, scavengers will very quickly notice that pattern and then nothing is wasted. Win-Win

👨‍💻I'M ON THE SQUIRREL'S SIDE - CLEVER R they not Seen alot buy & make these but they always get the seed :) 👍 i'd rather sit & watch squirrells swing hop try getting into feeders for fun👍🤪 Bugga the poop everywhere birds noisey also cant sleep in chirp chirp
