I've had these glasses with nose pads sitting for awhile but never got them to feel comfortable enough to wear them for long periods and I was unsure on the adjustments. This video helped a lot! Got them almost perfect in one shot, thank you!

Best explanation ever. Have worn glasses for decades and progressives for around 20 years. If they're not adjusted well, it's miserable. At times I've gone to two and three different opticians trying to have them done correctly. This video helps me understand what the correct fix would be for the various issues. Thank you!

I have very bad eyesight so my glasses have to be adjusted just perfectly so that I can even see out of them properly. I have tried so many different optical providers and it is extremely difficult to find someone who can adjust properly. Believe it or not, even though it is hit or miss because of high turnover rates, Walmart has some of the better adjusters. I am hoping I can learn to do it myself. I am going to practice on my old frames.

Thanks for the feedback but I’m sorry to hear about this issue for you :( my last advice would be to try adding more tension or pressure on the temples to ease the weight on the bridge. You can also try softer nose pads if yours are removable. Look for extra soft (pillow) nose pads.

I’ve gotten my glasses adjusted so many times and still have red sore spots. I’ve tried different types of nose pads as well. Nothing has helped it. I have metal frames so they are pretty light. I guess my issue just comes from me having -4.75 prescription for both eyes and maybe my lenses are just too heavy. Next time I will get high index lenses. I also struggle finding glasses frames that fit my face because my face is quite narrow. Sighhh the struggle is real.
@myglassesguy

Thank you for engaging with the channel and sharing your story! That’s frustrating 🙃 I’ve had that issue before too. tightening the temple arms and even curving behind the ear more can sometimes help with red marks but it sounds like you have already tried that adjustment. You are right on with high index lenses next time. Another great insight is when you mentioned the fit, finding the right fit can impact the size of the lens. If a lens/frame is too big for you, it also adds a lot of unnecessary weight. This design is something to keep in mind your next time around… this one fits more narrow, the round shape helps cut down on the amount of lens material and the frame is already light weight to start with! enjoyoptical.co/products/path-530-gm

This was good information for people with glasses that have adjustable nose pads. However mine are plastic and are a part of the frame, so they aren't adjustable. The plastic nose pads leave red marks AND indentations on the bridge of my nose. The pieces that sit over my ears leave indentations on the side of my head too. The optometrist adjusted them but the adjustments made no difference. She told me that people have to wear the frames for about an hour in order to know whether or not there will be problems. I'm going to return these and see if I can exchange them for a different pair. I thought about ordering silicone nose pads but so far all the reviews I've read only mention that the pads prevent the glasses from slipping with no mention at all about red marks and indentation. Mine don't slip so the nose pads probably won't help, right?
@myglassesguy
@myglassesguy Жыл бұрын
thank you for watching the video and excellent question! I am sorry for the issue you are having with your glasses. If you were only getting red marks (feeling pressure) on your nose OR sides of the head, I would say these glasses could be adjusted to fit. BUT because you are getting pressure on BOTH, I would say you are making the right call to reselect a new pair that is lighter and fits well. Adding nose pads to the current pair WILL NOT help with pressure or weight, only slipping as you mentioned. I'm happy to consult further at no charge if you want to connect, you can reach me at josh@enjoyoptical.co thanks again for engaging in this community!

I’ve got the same problem and same type of glasses. There’s a tender pain now when I press one side of my nose, as well as dent and redness. The problem in my case could possibly be because I had surgery there years ago to remove a basal cell carcinoma. Sometimes I put a foam earplug on the bridge of my nose to hold out the glasses away from my face and nose, but obviously that’s only a temporary solution.

My main problem was not addressed and there may not be a solution. I have a very thin bony bridge. Adjustments do not work. Oversized bridge pads do not work. I have sewn soft rubber cups over the pads, but that does not work. It works better than anything else, but still leaves a large red area that aches. Contact lenses are out of the question for me as my eyes are deep set, and I'm 78 years old and do not want the aggravation. So other than some sort of band over my head holding the glasses off my nose, I don't know what to do. Any ideas? Thanks.

Thank you for the video. Would it be useful to rinse the frame in warm water before adjusting the nose pads?
@myglassesguy
@myglassesguy Жыл бұрын
You are welcome! Thank you for watching :) I would not use warm water to adjust the nose pads but you can use heat (warm water or a blowdryer) to adjust the temples on plastic (or acetate) frames. This would be relative to red marks or issues with your bridge fit, because there are times to tighten the temple (move it towards your head, by your ear) in order to remove some pressure from the bridge of your nose. One obvious caution is too much heat from water or a blowdryer, can damage your frame and the lenses can become "crazed" at certain temperatures. If you want more detailed info, feel free to message me at josh@enjoyoptical.co :) Thanks again for watching!

how to adjust the nose pads, if your ears are not symmetric and its difficult to make the frame straight? Thank you in advance :)
@myglassesguy
@myglassesguy 4 ай бұрын
thanks for watching and great question! this simple video may help... kzfaq.infoa7md6OENs7o?si=EUYvRXzCDoLorhcJ most of the time you can adjust the frame (not nose pads) to make the glasses straight on your face. You can also adjust the nose pads. I'll create a video on this for you soon, but the basic rule is if you move the nose pad up (or widen it) it will cause the frame to lower on that side. If you move the nose pad down (or make it more narrow) it will cause the frame to be raised on that side. Determine which side needs to go above or down and adjust accordingly :) video coming soon!

great question! typically when I've heard the complaint of sticking, it's just the style of pads. You can try fresh nose pads, that can help. Placement on the bridge doesn't affect the stickiness as far as I know. thanks for watching!

@myglassesguy
@myglassesguy Жыл бұрын
Hello! Thank you for watching the video and for engaging with a question… the rainbow experience is probably 1 of 2 things: 1. The edge of the lens is causing a reflection bc of the polish 2. It could be the anti reflective coating on your lens, that can sometimes cause the rainbow effect as well

It may be the chromatic aberration effect. It's noticable in polymer lenses starting from index 1.60. An 1.5 (CR-39) and Trivex don't have noticable chromatic aberrations and provide the best optical quality of all plastic lenses. However, CR-39 usually is not a material of choice for rimless/half frames glasses, but Trivex is. Also, they are not the thinnest lenses out there so if you have a strong prescription that may a point to consider.

@myglassesguy
@myglassesguy Жыл бұрын
Great question, thanks for watching the video :) Are your nose pads metal? If metal, they will NOT require heat. Some nose pads require more force to adjust. I would also add the caution that some nose pads are more apt to break as well. Use caution but it can take more force than expected for such a small device :)

Great question, Justin, thanks for watching! If your frame doesn’t have nosepads and you are getting red marks on your nose, you can adjust the temples to be tighter on the sides of your head. By tightening the frame on your head, near your ears, you can relieve some of the weight and strain on the bridge of your nose.
