Absolute genius solution , I haven't been able to use my printers during the winter months and now you have provided the solution.

Glad I could help. That’s the exact problem I was having when I moved everything outside and this has helped so much.

Great tip. Dealing with the chill here in the Northern Alabama hills, and this will really help with resin temps and fumes! Plus, no more sticky covers 😃

An old/secondhand/(new?) kitchen cupboard can also work well. You can cut a hole to add ventilation (using standard duct connectors available at DIY stores) and the chipboard its made from is pretty good insulation to help cut down on the amount of time the heater needs to run. I'd recommend not running your ventilation during printing though as the heater may struggle to keep up with the rapid air change rate.

Wonderful. Good to see how it’s working for you and how a small heater works with it. I did think of getting a grow tent, but didn’t think of laying mine sideways 🙂

I originally thought about getting shelves in there and standing it up, then I realised laying it down made so much sense.

Horizontal use of a grow tent like this can be great for multiple printers but with bigger printers you may have issues getting the lid on and off easily. Also recommend having the printers as far forward as possible not at the back as shown here. There are lower/wide tents that are better suited than flipping a tall one on it's side. Not only will you have the base insert to use and easily cleanup the vents will be in more useful positions.

I don’t put the lids on for that reason, plus they’re all in there and protected from most of the issues they required their lids for. Seems to be working so far after about 6 months.

I do this exact thing. I have an inline charcoal filter and duct fan that pulls the fumes out of the tent and house. It's on my workbench in the garage. Winters are cold here so I plug my space heater into an inkbird and keep it at a steady 75F. I used my FDM printer to print duct couplings and magnetic hookups where it attaches to a vent on the back of the house. When I'm not printing, I pull off the hose and attach a magnetic lid to seal it off. I forgot the exact video, but I got the stl files for the magnetic hose hookups from them. They are on printables.

I just got mine because of your video. Setup in garage with a ventilation fan with a tube to the outside. Excellent idea. I will be putting my wash and cure inside too, the Isopropyl alcohol is very smelly and this solves all my fume problems.

Another thing we use here in Canada where it can get to -40 in winter is Egg Incubators. If properly insulated the incubator heat source is a better idea than a space heater.

Such a great idea and with the heater inside you catch two birds with one stone :D Definitely what I would go for if i was living in an apartment. Maybe I could even hook it up to the ventilation system that is used to blow out the air from the bathroom :D

@Dark0Storm

Unless you know what you are doing with ventilation setup may not be a good idea as connecting it up in the wrong configuration could mean you end up venting toxic fumes in to your bathroom!
@TashiMortier
@TashiMortier 9 ай бұрын
@@Dark0Storm Very unlikely, the vents had some special covers to only let air out and not in. Otherwise your bathroom would have smelled of the poop of the downstairs neighbors all the time, too. :D

@@TashiMortier most likely because it was installed by people who knew what they are doing... which is why I recommend only adding new connections if you likewise have that knowledge 😉

If i have learned anything a wash and cure station and a method to remove the fumes are absolutely essentially Grab a silicone pet mat from the store and a plastic razor scraper and you basically don't beed any tools besides those probably forever lol Thankful i hage a garage to work in but i hate wearing the respirator 24/7 when i am in there, only time it doesnt stink is curing
@amaurythewarrior

that would be good for me, i got a room in the basement, but temperature might be a concern. to what extent does the plastic cover that comes with the printer contain the fumes?
@PrimalShutter
@PrimalShutter 2 ай бұрын
If you don't vent out and just keep air enclosed, how do the fumes build over the surfaces inside? Won't they make every surface inside the tent sticky over time? I'm willing to think not because even the rails are inside the printer lids, still I find it weird to think about

Noob question : with regards to fumes, is the main issue whilst the printer is running? I know people wear respirators whilst adding the resin to the vat but do the fumes mainly come from the print process itself? Thanks

How expensive is the heating solution? Did you calculated the costs? I'm looking for a grow tent, but I heard they don't keep warm very well. How much the heater is.. heating?

One of my exact questions. I have almost the same setup as him with a slightly smaller grow tent and the exact same 500w heater and I can't seem to bring mine up above 15c. Very disappointing as I thought I'd finally found the solution.
@flagoon
@flagoon 5 ай бұрын
@@ricksanchez3557 you have 500W heater and it's not enough? Damn, I was looking specially for a smaller one, and I got 50W, but now I'm sure it's not enough. But I also bought brewing belt and I'm going to test this as well.

Do you have any problems with the reflective coating on the inside? Can you take out the printer and put in a bunch of UV lights and it turns into a giant cure station? There are a lot of cheap options for duct fans that hook up to it so you can put all the fumes in a hose to outside
@GrayScalpMiniatures
@GrayScalpMiniatures 9 ай бұрын
No issues with the reflective surface. They’ve been in there for around 6 months now and I haven’t run into any issues with that setup. You could definitey turn it into a giant cure station, but that would annoy me removing the printers so maybe a smaller grow tent for that as a seperate thing?
@markrond2395
@markrond2395 9 ай бұрын
Thanks for the reply @@GrayScalpMiniatures If you say there is no issue with the inside coating, I am going to upgrade my setup ASAP. This is such a great idea, I get what you mean about moving printers being a pain, even a little bump can ruin your day if its full of resin
@GrayScalpMiniatures

Maybe you could get a large enough one and partition it? So half is for printers, and half for curing. That might work.@@markrond2395
