I'm glad you were able to push through and share this story. The top hat shadow person has been seen by some other people and they have had similar experiences. He would give of this hate filled disgusting feeling... Malicious even but wouldn't actually physically harm someone. I myself am glad i have never seen him yet but i have had my fair share of the paranormal that it probably just a matter of time.

Yeah that's nuts! I've never experienced anything like that! Binge watching Netflix is a must! I was just watching a video on earthquakes from Japan yesterday. Wow, that after shock was craazy, i could only imagine the first quake. And a shadow man!

I’m Alaska Native, both sides of my family’s have a long history of Healers/Shamans. I’m an empathic, and have always been in touch with spiritual things (I also help people by making medicine bags- either for protection or to help attract positive energy to them) and the reason closets tend to always creep people out, is that there’s very little living energy in them. They aren’t inhabited, they’re almost always dark, and that attracts “things”.

I had a similar experience when I was 6 or 7 yrs old in Colombia. My two sisters and I lived with our grandma back then and I remember that she always wanted us to brush our teeth and wash our feet before going to bed every night. Grandma used to have an old school washing station to wash our clothes on in her back patio and that's where we would climb to wash our feet. My sister's and I always felt uneasy going by ourselves to her back patio, so sometimes we would accompany ourselves and go together to do our business back there. Anyhow, on one night which I will never forget as a child, both of my sisters weren't home that night and I had to go back there and clean up. As I am walking to the dark back of grandma's house, I am turning the lights on as I go further. And when I get to the back patio as I am turning the lights on, I see the dark silhouette of a old man wearing a wide top brimmed hat sitting on the stairs that lead to her 2nd floor terrace. The shadow doesn't move, it just sits there with its fist under its chin as if in a pensive manner. I run to the front of the house and tell grandma, she checks back there and sees no one. I didn't go back there that night and never saw that shadow again, but I will never forget the silhouette of the man with a wide brimmed hat. I live in NJ and enjoy your videos, keep up the good work!

From what I know about Shintoism, I think I might have some explanations. When you go to a shrine, there is the belief that a kami (god/powerful spirit) lives in the shrine. It is believed that kami had powers over the land where they inhabit. Depending on the kami’s personality, they can be nice or very demanding. When visiting a shrine, you are supposed to leave an offering to show your respect to the kami that live in the shrine. This can be something like money or food like 🍙. By not doing so, the kami could get angry or wrathful. You can also pray to the kami for things like protection, good fortune, etc. From what you said, I guess you didn’t do this special ritual (of maybe you did?). Maybe for some reason the Kami was angry and it hurled rain storms, violent winds, and earthquakes. I don’t know if this is helpful or not. But if you didn’t know a lot about this, then this may be helpful to know.
@NihongoJohnny

Thank you so much for the thorough explanation! I really like it!! I think that might have been what happened. It was the first time we went and I think we only put a little bit of money in the offering box, but we didn't bring any food or anything else. So I think that could definitely be a possibility! Thank you so much once again for taking the time to explain this! :)

Coins should be sufficient enough. Especially if it was a lucky coin...I think 5 or 50 yen. The ones that have holes in them are especially loved by Kami

Wow! Your creepy paranormal experience in Japan. I have never had a paranormal experience myself and I honestly never want to. I can see why you wouldn't want to talk about it to much. It's wonderful you want to share this jarring experience with us. I feel honored for this. $100-$200 a month for rent! What!?! That's insanely cheap!🤯 It does sound very creepy your experience! Plus an Earthquake! My goodness! 😨

Seven or eight feet tall, blacker than darkness, wearing some sort of "top hat", full of hatred and anger... oh boy, you saw the famed Hat Man, a peculiar Shadow People manifestation which is known to be quite "aggressive" and full of negative energy. Be thankful he never came back, his hauntings are known to be pretty terrifying

Hey, I came to your channel from Loey's video. This is only the 2nd video I've watched of yours, but I actually like this off the cuff style more than the scripted one. You seem much more comfortable in front of the camera here. The other one wasn't bad, but you did have a more "robotic" or "stiff" tone in that video, where this one is more natural. Great stories! Thanks for sharing! I look forward to checking out some more of your content! Keep up the good work!

I really enjoyed this video. You held my attention the whole way through. I experienced my first big earthquake in Japan a couple months ago and I know the feeling you mean, that sort of feeling of “it’s out of my hands now and I may die”. The alert sound still gives me the creeps to be honest. Regarding the presence in your apartment when you were first describing the layout I was like “that sounds great!” Since my apartment in Japan is a much smaller more modern affair but after hearing about your experiences there I’m not so jealous haha. I have made the mistake of watching this at 1am but all the same I appreciate you sharing your experience.

You mention a shrine near your apartment ... it funny but it is often believed among older people in my country (I'm from Singapore) that places near temples, mosques and churches are a lot more haunted places than normal spaces. In fact one of the most famous haunted road in my country is lined with many temples and also, people would consciously chose not to buy houses next to temples and mosques.. Maybe next time you should try to avoid apartments near to such things ..

Hm.. I have read somewhere that despite those are blessed places, some astrals often visited for worshipping or live in there or just passed by. Well, I think it depends on the situation, like mosque, there has been said that good 'jins' are also worshipping like humans in there. But, i have a friend that live besides of the mosque yet i felt an unsettle presence in her house. My thought is probably the area is not the best bcs there are too much trees Sorry for the bad english

omg I can understand feeling a negative spirit and if you feed it by paying attention to it it'll slowly grasp onto you a little bit more every time. My Senior Year in College there were some haunted places/dorms and I lived in one and there was this presence that I felt in this one room and I kept being drawn to it. It only started getting scary when I started feeling it outside of this room.

So spooky!!! I would’ve been out by the first few time hearing the scratches in the closet haha. Wow, that figure... ugh makes me shiver. I’ve lived in South America during my childhood, one thing that fully stayed with me is the earthquakes, they freak me out, so I can relate to the unsettling feeling of...death, I suppose, that you could feel during one. 😊 hope that makes sense. They just feel unnatural when the earth beneath your feet that is so solid starts to move in violent ways haha Anyway loveddd the video. Subbed. 😊💜

Shadow figures gives me an unexplainable cold sensation that runs through my body, I have dreams of a female shaped shadow figure that stands or runs along ceilings & walls.
