If you have the resources, please go see a Physical Therapist. There's way too many fitness influencers making up BS all the time. However my PT did recommend new shoes, stretching and massaging my calves. I was told my calves were too stiff and that I heel strike alot when running

Because my casual flat shoes ripped I had begun using my soft elevated heel sneakers. I've had this exact morning pain out of seemingly nowhere and my knee pain flared up which I knew was from the sneakers. I've been meaning to buy some flat ones and this video makes it an absolute priority. Edit: A while ago I got my flat shoes repaired and a lot of my knee pain went away immediately.

This advice may be correct for some demographics, but from my experience and many others that i have talked to, stretching the foot and calf muscle fixes it. If you wake up with tight calf muscle and tightness at bottom of foot, stand flat footed a little away from the wall and lean forward to stretch. Then do other stretches of the foot and legs including the good foot stretch and supposedly useless one in this video. Do this before sleeping and after, and all day long. For my condition which i had for over a year, stretching helped almost immediately and has completely solved it for years.

@@navarrolewis8 I got from Dr office but probably can get online. It was tall up to bottom of knee area with open toe area. I bought black (color of boot) knee high socks to wear with it so no rubbing on skin. Has several straps for you to adjust. The 1st day the pain had already arrived when I asked Dr to give me a boot BUT on 2nd day the pain did not come. I would of worn it the rest of my life if I had to because that pain just affected my life in every way. 3 months & I took it off. My calf muscles were really small so take it easy until you get muscle built back up. WEAR IT RELIGIOUSLY & ONLY TAKE OFF FOR BATHING & BED. LET ME KNOW HOW YOU GET ALONG. 😊

@@navarrolewis8 Don't do shot. I did it twice. Yes it takes pain away but only temporarily. I went to all kinds of specialist did the PT etc. Not one of them suggested the boot. In the end out of desperation I had wild idea of the boot. I have concluded that the injury/inflammation just needed to rest & the boot keeps certain muscles from firing so much - which allowed it to calm down & heal. Scar tissue is a real thing & the more your body tries to heal it with sending it to injury- end results it builds up & causes more pain. Let me know of your progress. 😊

This man is leaps ahead of the medical field. Can confirm that stretch is the only thing to release my plantar fascia pain when driving for extended periods, i do it intuitively when driving and get an ache, but i will now add it to my daily stretch regime, thankyou.

This helped me too. Makes sense since the heel cushions shorten the calf muscle range, and it happens right after a 2 hour walk in a tall heel shoe

I watched your video yesterday and immediately did what you demonstrated. This morning I did some of the movements before getting out of bed. My pain decreased by 80% since yesterday morning. I continue doing the stretches this morning. Every time I get up to walk it continues to improve. Thank you so much. I’m an active 57 year old woman, weight lifting five days a week and I do martial arts. I have a black belt test in two weeks. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

@@Enforcer_WJDE Did you get custom orthotics from a prosthetics/orthotics company? Or did you get some crappy Podiatrist Dr. Scholl's type inserts? Orthotics absolutely work if they are custom made in a shoe with a wide toe box.

I have gone through a few treatments for my heel which cost a lot. I wish I had watched you video before going through that. I tried rolling my foot on a ball and stretching the foot and OMG I can walk without limping. I realize it will take a while to be 100% but I am very encouraged by the video. Thank you!

@@prodz9036hokas tend to have a raise in the heel 4mm on average compared to their shoes. And their toe box tends to run narrow if you have wide feet. I wish more companies had accommodations for wider feet and no heel raises.

I’ve had two flare ups of PF in the past three years and mostly wear Xero or Topo Shoes (very wide toe box and little or no heel elevation) and always go barefoot at home….so this can happen despite trying to avoid it. That said, shoes that allow for natural movement make sense for overall foot health, balance, etc.

Yeah crazy a lot says to pull the toes up and even wear a boot to bed but I find it’s making it worst. I feel that area is already stretched and inflamed why add to it. This is the second video I saw that says to pulls toes under. I will have to give this a try.

Oh dear, I just realised what causes my plantar faciitis, it's the additional heal- cushions that I used. I've been doing my morning walk for years, but the pain just started last year. When I bought those cushions. This is really helpful. Thanks.

Yeah it's bits and pieces here and there. You gotta put it together yourself or pay for a program. Make playlists: foot, knees, hips, etc. 👍🏻

For me, the most important part was buying the flat heel shoes with a wider toe box. Make sure you start wearing toe socks as well. Next build your load gradually - meaning once you get your shoes, take a week off, then building up 1000 to 2000 steps per week until you reach 10k. Do this while doing ankle circles in both directions, massaging your foot from heel to the toes and stretching your toes forward and backwards - stretch your calfs as well. Do this in the morning before getting out of bed and before going to sleep. Lastly, toe spacers helped me out a lot.

Not entirely true, I only wear minimalist shoes for about a year now and I still got mild plantar fasciitis from standing at work for 8 hours a day 6 days a week, and then going for 2-5 mile runs when I got home. I recently saw a study that showed doing slow single-leg calf raises in a stretched position every day for a few weeks (5 sec concentric, 3 sec hold at top, 5 sec eccentric) helped completely heal plantar fasciitis in a lot of patients. The first time I did that it caused crazy inflammation, I went to bed immediately after and the next morning the pain was completely gone. It returned because I haven't been as consistent doing that as I should be, but that's the #1 exercise that worked for me.

I noticed doing that extensor stretching feels amazing. One time I planted my heel onto the angle where my foot and ankle meet, shifted my weight from the foot on the floor to the foot on the foot, and got the most satisfying joint pop I’ve ever felt, I’d love to see if you can replicate it.

I’m on my third year with PF. Finally threw away the bloody expensive orthotics, my beloved Docs and extra wide new balance and I’ve been wearing barefoot shoes and toe spacers consistently for 2 months. Ive only ever gone barefoot at home so transitioning wasn’t bad. Left foot is completely pain free, both knees and lower back are pain free now, but my right foot is still experiencing PF. I’m in it for the long haul though.

My ankles hurt everytime I play basketball and my feet and sometimes even my whole leg can go numb. Is there exercises that would help this? They don't hurt normally at all or go numb unless I'm sitting in a position that makes them "fall asleep"

Same! This is new for me and id been stretching the other way and was about to by the foot gear. I just got up of the couch after sitting for a while, I'd been running errands all day that included some periods of standing in line...when i got off the couch i literally thought i was going to have to have my daughter help me walk! I've been doing this for 20mins(searched for relief bc it hurt so bad, even while still) and less pain already!!!

CrankyOtter Here, one can't get vit K2 off the counter. My doctors don't want to precribe it to me, they say no need!! As it's said that it can cause hemorragies. And not given to healthy people, only highly deficient cancer patients, under supervision. I can't understand how one can just take K2 so easily in the US?

You can get Plantar fasciitis from various things (other than just the shoes you wear) 1 cause is innactivity there are various causes of it not just the type of shoes.

This is new for me and I'd been stretching the other way and was about to buy the foot gear.😢 I got up off the couch to get rdy for bed after sitting for a while, I'd been running errands all day that included some periods of standing in line...when i got off the couch i literally thought i was going to have to have my daughter help me walk! I've been doing this for 20mins(searched for relief bc it hurt so bad, even while still) and less pain already!!!

When dealing with extreme plantar fasciitis I found a Chinese method on KZfaq that involves taking the knuckle of your index finger and massaging around the bottom of the talus. Worked instantly

its diet as well…when i went a couple weeks of good eating i noticed that pain going away and then coming back when i would break that habit of healthy eating.

Hm? I thought there are two options, strengthening the muscle fascia or lengthen in. But apparently there is a third option? Maybe also depends on the reason for the pain? Like running too much or it's the shoes

My issues is around the ankle that is swollen and or feel like inflammation and really hard to put weight on it but then after hours of put weight slowly it seems to be back to normal but wtf. It is really annoying!!

What if I have plantar faciatis and I almost exclusively go barefoot? The shoes I wear only a couple hours each week couldn't possibly be the cause of my pain.

Everyone is very different. Especially concerning feet!! Not one type of shoe for all. Not one type of treatment for all. One has to try out various things. For me, I have best benefit with a hard shoe, leather sole, and a 3-5 cm heel. Plus a padded insole. Take care.

I suffered for 3 years with plantar fasciitis.. I did with a yoga block stretching my plantar fasciitis, 3-5 times a day, I'm stretching my calves, when i needed and now I don't have 5 years any problem. I did myself a massage as well 👌

I can attest. I was stretching my calf and bottom of my foot, still do mainly for the calves but i had no idea how tight and tender the top pod my foot was. The relief i felt from massaging and stretching the top of my affected foot was pretty surprising. My pf is improving and I'm able to tolerate minimalist shoes better. #Strongfeetsaveslives

What’s the theory behind extensor stretching and it’s benefits 4 plantar fasciitis, It’s not explained at all? as well stretching the calves alleviated my plantar fascial issue alongside getting better running shoes?

You mightve over over-extended then. If the pain was sudden its probably not plantar fasciitis or it started out as that and now you have something worse from the worn out ligaments

I had been dealing with this exact thing for years but didn't know what caused it or what to do about it. I got laid off in August so I basically stayed home for 4 months and I didn't wear shoes cuz I didn't have to go out. After a week of not wearing shoes constantly, I noticed I didn't have anymore pain. Now I have a job again (yay) but now I gotta find some wide toe box shoes
