I proposed to my husband, and to get the ring size, I bought a plastic ring sizer with the cover-story of buying a ring on etsy for myself. I claimed that I couldn't do it on my finger and didn't understand how to read it, so I said, "let me try yours!" I measured his pointer finger on his right hand, then measured mine. His was over twice the size, so I said, "Holy crap! What's your middle finger size??" We then compared ring sizes on all our fingers. He came away from that experience with the knowledge that I have tiny, stick fingers. I walked away with his wedding ring size.

This is one of, if not THE, best proposals I’ve ever heard. I’ve been married for almost 30 years now. Proposal recommendations: mess up a lot. Make it a great story that wants to be retold. A great proposal is ok. But make your proposal a story you are going to want to retell for decades. That’s the best kind. Well done, Garntt.

Having done what was basically a real proposal for a class assignment because I was able to be partnered with my then girlfriend for the marriage project, I can relate to how it feels when actually going through with the proposal. There were only 2, maybe 3 people in the entire school that knew I was going to propose during friday assembly with a cute video of our past pictures and the lovey-dovey punk rock music we both liked. When it was my time to get the ball rolling, they handed me the mic. I couldn't say a damn word, all I could do was go get her from her seat and bring her down front with me to watch the video with the entire school. I signaled the guy running a/v to get the video rolling and we all watched and waited. I turn to her and as I get down on my knee the music hits that moment, the "will you marry me" appears on the screen, and neither of us could say anything. She nodded and I gave her the ring, the entire auditorium filled with cheers from ~400 people. It was the single coolest thing I've ever done but I don't regret not being able to say anything. My only regret was not taking the moment all the way. School sucks so we didn't go for the kiss, just a long hug before going back to our seats. We should have gone for the kiss anyway, maybe staff would've gotten at us for it maybe they wouldn't have, I just wish we had the moment. Honestly wanted to pick her up and carry her out the door to really go the distance but I was a scrawny dude then :P

Talking about 'The Beginning after the End'; being a light novel reader myself I can confirm that it is totally worth it. Having read both Mushoku Tensei and The Beginning after the End I can't say that one is better than the other, but if you liked Mushoku to such an extent then you will definitely love the webtoon.

I can. Mushoku is better. Mushoku does a really great job at making Rudy feel like his past life mattered, and is a major part of who he is. And he was just a NEET in his past life who never did anything. But in The Beginning After the End, he's meant to have literally gone from living on the streets, to fighting wars on the frontline as a dictator with a lightsaber, and it just doesn't feel like it. Rudy feels pretty real. Having the maturity of someone quite a bit older than he's meant to be. But having the complete lack of social development, lack of experience with relationships, and lack of confidence, that you'd expect from someone with a past life like his. But Arthur doesn't. He's hyper emotional and feels pretty much the same as every other 'cool' teen protagonist. The exception being where he first meets the King of Sapin. I wish his character remained consistent to how he was then. (I know he's meant to be emotionally immature from his past life too, but it's not done particularly well in my opinion). I still enjoy The Beginning after the End. But Mushoku is definitely at another level to it. At least in my opinion.

Besides both being progressive fantasy and similar figures, I'd say they are both almost completely different stories. Mushoku Tensei is a redemption story more focused on Rudeus in a new world and protecting your loved ones from immutable circumstances. TBATE is about a former king who's closed everything off and tries to gain new connections but is shadowed by an unknown enemy that is built up from the beginning and the consequences of his life before. Mushoku excels in worldbuilding while TBATE focuses more on the fantasy of magic and power systems of Arthur. They both have their great aspects and I recommend both after reading both the webnovel of mushoku and catching up to current chapters of TBATE

I think the whole proposal thing is a bit forced by American movies. Me and my gf at that time were just chilling on a hammock during our summer holiday and just said 'hey, I really love you, maybe we can get married'. 'I thought the same thing', and then we went shopping for rings the same day. I wouldn't have guessed her ring preference, or her exact size, so it was for the best.

With my now wife we started dating back in 2012 and we joked about if we get to 2015 still togheter we were gonna marry, so fast forward to dec 31 2014, i didn't wanted to happen by default, so i proposed 10 seconds before finishing 2014, with a ring on a Pokeball. We married in 2015 and we are still happily married, and close to our 10 year anniversary.

Don't feel bad I think all proposals at some level never go as planned. My now-husband and I drove cross country in the dead of winter to spend Christmas with his family and that whole trip I knew how, when, and where I was gonna propose. I communicated to the family slight details. We get to Pittsburgh I tried 5xs to propose but something kept happening then I finally gave up and proposed in the snow. Now we are married and watch One Piece together every week and stream together it all works out LOL

So I plan to officially propose to my GF of six years this year at our 7th anniversary. Originally, I wanted to be sneaky about it and did measure the size of a ring she'd already had (one of those couple rings that aren't engagement rings and stuff) but remembered that it was one of those adjustable rings so the size wasn't quite right. I then asked her, cause she mentioned she wanted to get a new ring anyway if she's already found one in her size, she said no. Now, last week, I was smoothbrained enough to ask her if she has a favourite gemstone and, well, she figured it out and I said that I'v been thinking about it. We're kinda engaged anyway, just like unofficially, so she wasn't terribly surprised or anything but I still hope that it's gonna be a proper proposal in August. We'll go to a jewler today to figure out our sizes. Now, if that restaurant I wanted to book a table for would finally reply...

ok, now that you want to give web novels a go, I have a recommendation. (you said you want to read the beginning after the end) when you're disappointed and think that you saw it all when you doubt yourself forever liking an isekai, when you think isekai can never be deep or epic when your literary friends tell you that epic literature has been piqued by homer and No one can do it better remember this recommendation. (side note: don't waste your first time reading these books, if you're not in the mood for this don't start it and come back when you're ready) here it goes: lord of the mysteries and reverend insanity good luck.
