i think usopp not having a more deep backstory is more in line with his character, he's just a normal guy who's trying to chase his dream but he lacks the strength that the others have so every time he has a win he has to put in mountains more effort than everyone else

more than that, usopp's father is an actual famous pirate in shanks crew, and the kind of man usopp wanted to become. He is not the strongest but has matured and did some of the most important acts in the whole story, even saved luffy without him being aware in dressrosa and at the same time freed every toy citizen in the island. He has won the right, merit and respect of all the people who admires him

mountains more effort than everyone else? that's bullshit. he was literally immune to perona just by being negative. without her negative ghosts working on you she's not strong at all. even with luffy being immune to enel's electricity he could still mold metals, use his trident, move incredibly fast, etc.

I think the more underrated part of skypiea is the Noland backstory. It was so tragic what happened to them. The payoff was good also. Keeping the promise from one decendant, and another who believed his ancestor against all odds. The only criticism I had is how the fight against Enel concluded. It was so lackluster, but Enel is still such a great villain imo.

More so than the nami moment , in arlong park the best moment for me was "this room can't be here anymore" as someone who was abused and hurt in a specific location like nami ,that moment breaks me. It's a moment in where luffy fully understands how to help nami and free her mentally. I wish my "room" didn't exist anymore... but it does... the people are no longer there but I wish it was burned down... and thats why ,to me, that moment was even more impacting than her stabbing the tattoo.

Fishman Island has my favourite One Piece quote. It is when they're showing a memory of Fisher Tiger talking with King Neptune and Queen Otohime about finally having escaped from being a slave to the Celestial Dragons. Skypiea is my favourite arc. It has a wonderful payoff as it makes it so abundantly clear how much the bloody feud between the natives of that forest and Enel’s lot matters to the tribe, and the vindication of the explorer’s legacy. I always feel a deep, warm feeling of happiness whenever I think of the moment when Luffy rings the bell. GOAT moment, I could read that arc until the end of time. I also feel that Skypiea truly captures the creative, explorative side of the manga. It’s so unique, a real oddball arc in the manga as it has very little to do with the overall narrative. It’s really self contained, and I think Oda really tried to come up with some of his most creative material in the arc.

Exactly why anime OP is NOT the way. As an OP manga reader, I feel so much pain when people say they hate Dressrosa because of all the flashbacks dragging the story which is never part of the story. I really like the whole east blue arc in connection to treasure, and what treasure means to all of the characters we see. for example, in orange town, Buggy sees treasure as just riches, but the mayors treasure is the town and the dogs treasure is his former owners shop. we also see that luffy's treasure is his hat. fast forward to arlong park when we learn nami's backstory and luffy gives her his hat it means so much because that is his treasure, but more importantly she is a friend, wich is luffys greatest treasure.

I will still always maintain that my favorite moment in all of one piece is when zoro goes up to mihawk and bows to him and tells him "train me so that I can beat you" then mihawk says how can I train someone who can't beat the apes and he says he did is so powerful it hits me harder than "nothing at all" or "I will never lose again" or even "I wanna live" is because it shows that without their friendship, without their found family, they don't know what they'll be so they will risk everything even what they hold most dear to them (that case Zoro's honor) to help another member of the crew. Obviously that made zoro my absolute favorite character in the story but it's more than that. A long time ago, a reader asked oda why luffy doesn't kill and oda said is basically because he wants to reuse characters and that luffy doesn't kill because in his mind, luffy doesn't have to. In one piece, you don't die when you die, you die when you lose your dream, you die when forgotten. Zoro and all the rest of the crew are willing to sacrifice their dreams for luffy so he can achieve theirs and it's implied luffy would do the same for them. One piece is a fun manga that the only person who is having more fun than the crew or audience is oda himself. I'm glad you were willing to take the time and read one piece and judge for yourself garnt, as someone who has watched since along park, it mean a lot that you were willing to make the commitment to giving it a try. I'd also like to thank whoever read this whole comment.

I just currently finished dressrosa arc and I watched all of it in 6 months. yes, that took me a while but real life responsibilities exist. It's a Rollercoaster of emotions and I love it

Once you catch up with the anime, I strongly suggest to then read the manga, so you don't get spoiled with certain stuff that happened in the manga that still hasn't happened in the anime.

To be fair getting to the end of Dressrosa in 6 months is pretty good imo. I don't feel like it's taking you too long. I also agree with the other comment in that you should be caught up to the manga when you're done with the anime.

4:52 drum island had some of the biggest lore drops. Ace, blackbeard, whitebeard where, abd maybe, haki were first mentioned in this arc.

@@istvanlorinczi2817 Exactly. Garnt is doing fine as the perfectly sane bachelor he is. Gigguk, however, he's getting married and moving up in the world! Garnt still on that sigma grindset, though.

In terms of the anime especially for the wano ark they have really upgraded the animation especially you could really tell how much love went into it when luffy fights Kaido

I remember watching the Arlong Park arc and that episode where Nami pleads to Luffy to help her was SUPER sad to see, but then when he screams out that he was going to help her, it was equally emotional and cathartic. I was already interested in One Piece up til that point, but that episode was the one that sold me on the series.

I haven’t seen alabasta since I was in elementary school, and I still remember so much of it. Truly one of the best arcs and it was so early on in the story too

Drum arc was also the first arc to hint and mention Blackbeard and his crew. Rayleigh actually had a cameo on Buggy's flashback back in Orange Town but yeah he was properly introduced in Sabaody.

until i found this video, i never thought i'd find somebody that i'd completely agree with when discussing arcs. i don't know how to explain and why i was so happy while watching this video, because it was like this man just took the words out of my mouth.

We got some friends to start One Piece about 3 years ago. Then we went on a trip to Tokyo with them before they reached Marineford / time skip. We had to physically shield them from Ace spoilers basically everywhere. One of my favourite moments was them finishing the last episodes of Marineford just before we entered "One Piece Tower" :) It was freaking amazing

You know I just caught up to the manga late-april and yet after the recent finish to the Luffy vs. Kaido fight, I'm already feeling nostalgic enough to want to re-read the entire thing. So much so in fact, that I'm going to go through with it, not just because it means I can consume more One Piece.

Fishman island had the best moment in the entire series for me, Jinbe donating blood to Luffy, as well as my favourite character Otohime. Both of these easily put Fishman island in A tier for me, but yeah, it did have some issues with pacing, bad villains (though thematically correct, Oda could've made them a lot more lethal), as well as coming off the hype of Marineford. However, I still think Jinbe donating blood to Luffy was THE most well constructed and beautiful moment in the entire series, and over a decade later I just still can't get over how good it was. Yes, it's been over a decade now since the anime finished with fishman island. Not to mention how Otohime is THE best example in the story of just a thoroughly good character. Like Lawful Good, if there ever was one. She fought day in and day out for what she believed in without any hatred. She died telling her family to not hate the humans, and her PURE GOODNESS ALONE turned one of the most vile pieces of absolute garbage on the planet into a rather respectable person that would later stand up for Shirahoshi being attacked by Charlos. Truly S tier character and I miss her so much.

whitebeards death was so sad cuz if u think about it he was dreaming for just a family to have more than the most sacred treasure or anthing and when he had a large crew going he had finally made his own family. and especially hte fact they just killed him off so fast i wish we could've seen him more instead of only like one arc.
